Tia Chucha's Centro Cultural is a unique and vibrant cultural space in Los Angeles. Established in 2003 by Luis J. Rodriguez, Trini, and Enrique Sanchez, it began as a café, bookstore, and cultural hub. In 2007, the café and bookstore transitioned to a nonprofit organization, allowing it to expand its mission of providing year-round, bilingual, and intergenerational arts and literacy programming. This gem offers a great selection of books, particularly focused on California, Latino writers, and diverse topics. Visitors can attend open mic nights, dance parties, and special events featuring local vendors. The bookstore is praised for its beautiful variety of children's books, inviting visitors to spend hours browsing. Tia Chucha's Centro Cultural is a beloved community hub, offering a wide range of free or low-cost arts and literacy workshops for all ages.
Cool little bookstore and events space. I'm reminded of my old hippie days. Wonderful vibe!

I sign up during the holidays for their tamale making events and this past weekend there was a meet and greet with the cast of La Bamba. They also have a great variety of empowerment books to buy. In the city of Sylmar.

This place is one of a kind. A gem. Buy books or check out their events. If you live nearby and haven't been, stop sleeping on this place. Great people.
