What a great first impression Granlibakken made! The resort is tucked away south of Tahoe City. We saw the sign to go into the resort and was greeted with an adorable set of starry lights on lamps guiding us to the resort. The lobby itself was nestled a bit more deep into the resort (for us, we came in through the poolside so had to loop around) but wasn't hard to find. One of the things I really loved about the Ganlibakken was just how friendly every single person was and full of character. People were not only chill but just super helpful and kind. I had a broken zipper on my jacket and the staff at the front desk were so nice in just offering advice and trying to open the zipper as well. There was also an ice scraper available to utilize which was uberhelpful for us as it snowed a bunch when we were there. The rooms were spread out across several buildings throughout the property and the inside was super comfy. The heater worked well. The beds and blankets were super warm. The view outside of all the snow was wonderful. The shower was solid and had good pressure/temperature. There was a small closet, microwave, and fridge as well.Love also that the resort is created where you should be able to get to most of the amenities by walking. So even though our room was more north, we were able to walk to the restaurant pretty easily if we needed to without driving around as well as the pool. (Just be aware that pathways of course are slippery in the winter). I also loved the various activities around like the jacuzzi/pool that were open in the afternoon during the winter to of course the snow hill with sledding/lessons for skiing and snowboarding. Really neat and will review those separately. Even the food was all surprisingly solid when it was the last thing I expected!Slight pain points that the hotel was aware of!*The WiFi was super spotty. The hotel tried to help with more options for Wifi codes but unfortunately didn't quite work right.*The gym itself isn't too bad with some free weights / some cardio machines / a barbell. It was leaking though during our visit so some of the gym was inaccessible. Also recommended to bring your own towel and wipes as they weren't available in the gym as well as your own music.*Be aware that parking may fill up close to your room. Also, if you are planning on using the snow hill on the property, I'd recommend taking the car if you can so your supplies are nearby. Although that area fills up a bunch, parking is usually available at least to the sides of the snow hill. Can't wait to come back!

This was our third time staying here, and it was the best yet! We stayed in Forest Lodge, Which ones newly updated and had a delightful view of the forest. We were so happy With everything, not only a great location with a hard to find old Tahoe vibe, but just as important everyone at the front desk was so cheerful and helpful. The breakfasts there are great, and the food at their restaurant is first rate. Will definitely come again!

Loved the property and the staff were so nice! Restaurant had great food. My room was huge and super clean. My favorite person was the front desk guy, I didn't catch his name but he described himself as "a simple guy from LA," he was so sweet. I will definitely be back in the summer. Thanks for a great work visit!

Very old school Tahoe hotel so don't expect modern rooms; but, everything you need is there and done well and priced fairly. It's very family friendly so you will be surrounded by families with small children.

Our recent stay at Granlibakken, was made extraordinary by the impeccable service provided by Sam. Despite the inconvenience of being without power for two days, Sam's proactive and attentive approach ensured our comfort. From assisting with food arrangements to sharing valuable tips for skiing, he seamlessly blended professionalism with genuine hospitality. His local suggestions for entertainment revealed his deep knowledge and enthusiasm for the area, enhancing our overall experience. Beyond his professional demeanor, Sam added a touch of warmth and fun to our experience, Granlibakken is fortunate to have such a dedicated and personable professional on their team.

Great location & exceptional staff. Great area for snow sports, close to the Palisades. The staff worked very hard to ensure we were comfortable during the February 29 - March 3 2024 blizzard! Great food selection. Was here for a conference. Will be back!

Great spot to vacation as the location is superb and rooms are magical. The homey lodge feeling is exactly what we wanted for a mountain getaway. Max at the front desk was super informative and helped make our stay even better. Would certainly stay again!

The room was nice not a problem big and comfortable. The service was ok the food is amazing just when we had went to the pool/hot tub there was these weird guys that touched my mom inappropriately and my almost my auntie, and they was naked in the pool beating there meat kinda weird and tried touching me too ( I’m 17) and they said they was from all over the world switching there story’s every time and one was edging too kinda crazy.? and they was very drunk it’s just there was no staff there but that was really the only problem so far. And the weather was bad but I mean it is a ski resort so. Not really kid friendly.
