Worst meal and service I’ve had in a long time. Expensive and not worth it. Would never go back

We stayed at Sunnyside in March while spring skiing at Palisades. Our stay was absolutely incredible and we plan to stay again! The views are unmatched, residing directly on the water, making for incredible sunrise and sunset views. Our drive to palisades was an easy 15 minutes at most. The staff were so friendly, and the amenities far exceeded expectations a with a healthy continental breakfast in the morning, afternoon tea, filtered water stations and more. This lodge had such a warm and welcoming vibe, and guest could make themselves at home snuggled around the fire place, or getting a drink at the bar. The large bay windows around the entire circumference of the lodge allow for incredible views from every room!!! We will be back and look forward to visiting in the summer! This was the perfect end to our trip and it was very difficult to say goodbye. Thank you for an excellent stay!

Quant tahoe classic design along the shore of Lake Tahoe. Favorite for a romantic getaway , or a nice meal with a lake view.

Downhill! Changed menu. This place used to be among the best & now it’s among the worst in Tahoe. Steak & Brussels were burned. I had to peel black char off them. Couldn’t get past burnt flavor. I ordered steak rare & it was medium well inside. Do they have a teen chef? Any adult could cook better than that. Yak turned out to be basically a bowl of chili. Salmon on Buddha bowl was small and inferior. Fish & chips were clearly out of a bag of pre-breaded frozen. Chef clearly had no interest in working with allergy challenges. After decades of Sunnyside being a treat for us, we are totally done with them.Food & drinks: See my review above

We visited Sunnyside’s restaurant for dinner on Friday evening. We didn’t stay at the lodge though. The lodge is beautiful- it is located right by the lake near Tahoe City. If you don’t find parking in the lot right in front of lodge - there is a lot next to it and street parking. You’ll have to enter through the main lodge door to get to the bar and restaurant. Inside, the decor provides a cosy cabin vibe. There was live music at the bar but it’s not really audible from the restaurant tables. We were lucky to be seated by the bay window facing the lake. Overall the atmosphere is perfect!?There were tables available when we got there- though we were a little early and it did fill up soon after. Our server, Susan, was very helpful and checked in on us frequently and provided recommendations. Service did take a while as the restaurant was a little busy later but we didn’t have to wait too long for anything.Quite a few things on the menu were not available- one of the starters, one of the entrees and even one of the wines. We ended up ordering the calamari, fried zucchini, guava daiquiri, Buddha bowl, fish tacos and the Thai hot pot.The calamari was a little disappointing- it wasn’t the typical ring-shaped cut and some pieces were too chewy. It did come with a very nice tomato-wasabi sauce however. All the other dishes were as expected- the Buddha bowl was surprisingly good with a good blend of flavors and texture.Overall I’d recommend Sunnyside but maybe not if you were looking for a specific dish.

We canceled our reservation of 12 due to the rudeness of John, an employee we spoke with on the phone day of. I called to confirm my reservation and inquire if the patio was open. He acted like it was an idiotic question and explained that he couldn’t just “snap his fingers” to have the patio ready. It was such a strange interaction. The feeling I got was that he hates tourists. My cousin got married here in 2006 and we were looking forward to a reunion. We ended up deciding not to give the restaurant our business.

We were seated by the kitchen and bathrooms. The noise level of the dishes being dumped behind us was tremendous. The noise level unacceptable. Enters came right on top of the salads. Poor execution!

Went for dinner on a Sunday night and the service was TERRIBLE. First they forgot to take our dinner order, then they told us it was last call to order food, then they forgot to bring our appetizer but still tried to charge us for it. When the food came, they forgot to bring silverware & condiments so we had to steal them from another table because the waiter kept disappearing. It wasn’t even busy! They rushed us out at the end (we had been there 45 mins and it wasn’t even 8:30) and included a mandatory gratuity even though we were only a party of 4 (the menu says automatic gratuity for parties of 8+). They were completely unapologetic throughout. And the food was pretty mediocre. Overall terrible experience - go somewhere else!

The food was over cooked and very small portions. One small piece of fish in fish and chips. No refills on lemonade for kids. The coleslaw was very dry and heavy on the onions. We have eaten here for years and always enjoyed it but not this time.

A Snowy Evening Delight at Sunnyside Restaurant and LodgeOn a night when snow was rewriting our dinner plans, Jessica and I found ourselves seeking refuge at Sunnyside Restaurant and Lodge, a gem on Lake Tahoe's West Shore. Ditching my grilling ambitions for a cozier setting seemed like fate as we pulled into Sunnyside, a decision that turned out to be a stroke of culinary genius.Arriving a tad early, we were welcomed to the bar, where the bartender was already in full swing, ready to quench our thirst and warm our spirits. The menu, rich in choices, made our decision-making a pleasant challenge.Sunnyside, like Garwoods, boasts stunning lake views, making it a summer hotspot. But on this blustery evening, with snow painting the world outside, the warmth of the bar felt like a sanctuary. The atmosphere inside was as comforting as the weather was wild. The bartender, doubling as our server, was nothing short of fantastic, ensuring our experience was as smooth as the drinks he expertly crafted. Dinner was a parade of flavors, each dish hitting all the right notes, making us forget the chaos of the snowstorm outside."Sunnyside Restaurant and Lodge: Where comfort meets flavor, no matter the weather."

I love this place in the summer and wanted to check it out in the winter. It was pretty empty and didn't have the same lakeside vibe. Just looked tawdry. The food was not great and the tomato basil soup in particular was super sweet (yuck!). I don't recommend it.
