My sons and I stayed at the FLL over the New Year week if 2024; it was our home base, while we skied and snowboarded at the various Tahoe ski resort. We were very happy with this Lodge. I loved walking down the private pier at sunrise. The room was really clean and well kept, and Brian, the property manager, couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating if he tried. He, and Gabby, his assistant (??) were very responsive the couple of times we needed them. I'm already looking forward to staying here over the summer, when they do evening bbq's and the pool is warmed up and ready for swimmers! This was a lovely memory-making family trip.

Beautiful accommodation Looks newly remodeled. I got a one bedroom and it's so cute. Comes with a full mini kitchen (4 gas burners, cups, plates, lots of pots and pans, coffee maker, utensils, lots of cutlery, everything you need to be your own chef). Bathroom is beautiful. Lots of towels. Comes with shampoo, conditioner and body wash by Papaya brand. Made my hair as soft as a newborns hair!!! Everything was perfect. Lots of lights and high tech ceiling lighting with fans incorporated into the lights that can push airflow as well as pull airflow. Interesting nice touch. The place is super clean. I walked in and really looked like a brand new lodge. Host is super nice and friendly and helpful. The lobby is very cozy and nice. I will definitely come back!!! Shops and restaurants are just a few steps away. Very close to Northstar Ski Resort!!I definitely recommend this Lodge.

The only reason why I'm giving it two stars is because of the location and beautiful lake. Everything is close by (shops, restaurants) and walkable. They have the prettiest lake view right in front of the lodge. I assumed the lodge would be decent from their supposedly "4 star" lodge. I found out when checking in that their cabins are privately owned. Cabin 18 was not clean, it smelled old and stale, bathroom had mold in the shower, lights weren't' working and I felt so uncomfortable for my toddlers to be crawling around. It was so dirty that phone was sticky and it was just disgusting. The front desk never checked in on our stay and there was no cleaning services. The rooms definitely could use a upgrade, It was so outdated. I was so excited to stay from the reviews and photos I read and saw and it turned out to be such a disappointment. Not worth the price.

Beautiful location and so calming... depends on which lodge you stay in, there's a lake view. The place is super cute and clean. The best part of the trip and experience that made it extra fun were Gaby and Brian -- who works the front desk. They are so sweet, kind, and accommodating! Thanks for a great experience!

We have stayed here many times so I leave this review so that others do not make the mistake we just did. We unknowingly booked online through a third party that is not associated with the Franciscan. This means they are privately owned and managed by a third online party that you cannot reach if there are any problems. The front desk doesn't even show your reservation, because that unit is not in their system. When our recent stay included no shampoo, soap, a non working refrigerator, not enough blankets and pillows- we had nobody to call. I won't mention the unit number so as not to hurt the owners business- but just beware when booking!Still 4 stars because this is a great place to stay even if these particular owners/property managers are not up to par.

We had the best time here! You won't be disappointed. I took my two toddlers and met up with two other families here, we were all able to stay close to one another on the lakeside. So perfect for being able to let the kids run free to the beach, I could even see them from my cabin if I needed to grab an extra towel or something. (Water is super calm and shallow right there at the beach). We stayed in a studio cabin, cute, rustic, had mini fridge, coffee maker, dishwasher, oven/stove, microwave. Everything we needed! Highly recommend for a no frills type of Tahoe adventure. This is my new favorite place to stay, only wish we could bring my dog too who loves the beach (but totally understand why places don't allow pets). Pool was across the street, Safeway 5 min away. Just keep your cooler inside your cabin even if it's empty!!! Woke up at midnight to a giant bear on my porch looking in my cooler (my fault). Also I arrived at noon with my kids, we were going to play outside until 4pm check jn but they were able to check us in early which was really nice. Great staff.

This review is hard to write because based on the location, advertised amenities, and the great reviews and photos on Yelp I had high hopes that I'd have an insanely wonderful weekend staying here. That said, this is a solid 3.5 and that's because a few things just left me feeling like the value proposition here was a little off and left me wanting a little more to push it reach four stars. The location of the Franciscan is tough to beat, and sets you down in a spot far enough from the crowds where you can enjoy a quieter and more local Tahoe experience. The accommodations are nice too. Cabin vibes abound whether you're on the lakeside of the lodge or just across the street by the pool. We had a one bedroom on the pool side and the living area is quite large with a sofa and loveseat that turn down to a bed, while the bedroom was actually quite small but adequate for two people. The refrigerator and freezer were residential sized, perfect if you're staying a while or just want to keep a lot of beverages cold. There was also a stove and microwave available, and all the utensils, glasses and plates you could need, which was greatly appreciated. I'm glad the room had a coffee maker, but they only put one packet of coffee in the room, and that packet had a coffee pod inside versus filters and coffee. I brought my own coffee, but I didn't pack filters so I couldn't enjoy it. Due to COVID there was no housekeeping so the coffee wasn't replenished, though I'm sure I could have asked for another. The bed itself was a disappointment. I was expecting a Queen and it felt like a full. The mattress was also pretty firm and just not really comfortable. The pillows were all different, some lumpy and uncomfortable while others were just fine. The sheets were kinda scratchy too. The lodge doesn't have AC in the room, which isn't abnormal for the area, but we were there during a summer weekend and despite having all of the windows and doors open during the cooler hours and running a box fan in the doorway and window to draw the cool air in, the room would not cool down. Despite the warnings from the front desk about keeping windows closed at night to avoid issues with bears we had to open them, and even with them open in the dead of night, the room wouldn't cool down either. The evenings were incredibly uncomfortable.I loved that the pool side of the resort had several picnic areas with gas grills so you could enjoy the outdoors and cookout with the family while on vacation. The open space was also nice for kids to runaround, ride bikes etc.The pool was great. A large concrete deck with great lounge chairs and small tables, shade, and sunny spots too. While the pool was advertised as heated, it was actually pretty chilly. After some time in the water it was more enjoyable but it certainly shocked the system. Staying in Tahoe, access to a private beach is what you want and Franciscan offers some great beach frontage and a private pier to take in the lake. But the amenities kinda end there. We didn't find many or any beach chairs, loungers, or umbrellas out for guests, and that's surprising considering guests are visiting from all over and aren't necessarily coming with their beach gear. The Franciscan beachfront looked especially bare when yiu looked just down the beach at the wonderful amenities of the Martis Camp beach club and Mourelatos. You couldn't help but be envious of the guests enjoying the amenities at those places. Adding this to the lodge seems like something that would greatly enhance the guest experience for a modest investment. All in all, a solid 3.5 star experience, and while the stay was enjoyable and the service very nice, I can't go to four stars because there were too many little things that made the experience less than ideal for me.
