“I have had to talk to countless vets over the past 3 months dealing with my dog's cancer diagnosis, and Dr. Hartzel was the first that communicated promptly, directly, and honestly with me. I was planning on taking my dog to Tahoe and wanted to find a vet just in case her health took a turn for the worse while we were there. Dr. Hartzel called me back within an hour of my calling him on a Friday afternoon. He told me his schedule, listened to my concerns, and gave me his opinion based on his information and experience dealing with this disease in other dogs. We did not end up meeting because he made it clear that it would be best to keep my dog in the Bay Area without the trauma of a car ride to the Tahoe area, and that turned out to be really good advice. In just a ten minute phone call he prepared me for what ended up being a very fast decision to euthanize my sweet girl, which is something none of her other vets, including her oncologist, was straightforward enough to prepare me for. Very grateful for his call and hope to meet Bruce under better circumstances next time.”
