Took my truck for a smog. 2 weeks later I pop my hood and see that they removed my engine cover but did not put it back on. So I called to inquire about it. Of course they denied having anything to do with it and told me they can't replace it because they don't know if I took it off and am just lying to them. Incredibly insulting.
There was no reason for them to even remove the cover to do a smog check. It's a 2007 f150. I have had it smogged many times over the years. This is the only time the smog tech took off the cover.
Stay away from this place. The smog tech is incompetent.

They are the best automotive shop in town, they offered the best pricing on labor and parts. The staff was super helpful and finished working on the car faster than expected. Would recommend anyone to go and get their car serviced here.

To be honest, while the shop was able to get me in same day for a smog check, he didn't follow up on the details of my catalytic converter, I had to go to the Cal ref for verification of my Catalytic converter and according to the ref, if he would have checked the numbers for that type of catalytic he would have fond the cat was legal and save me two days worth of hassle. All I can say is there find if nothing is wrong.

I can't say enough positive things about Pro Tech, the staff and service. I have a home in Tehachapi and my shop and other home is in Northern California. Without fail, my van develops a small and annoying problem when I am here a couple of times a year. This time, it was the high pressure power steering line. Two other shops couldn't be bothered to even look at it so I had been told it was the steering box. I swung by to have it looked at Pro Tech and the owner told looked at the van and told me it wasn't the steering box or its seals but the high pressure power steering line. He told me to get the line and make an appointment, which I did and when the line came in to the auto parts store, I made an appointment. I dropped the van off with the line, got a ride from staff to my home and quickly the line installed, an hour labor and my van back in order. 5 stars all around for the experience. I recommend Pro Tech on J Street to anyone who want's an honest business man and business that clearly operates with integrity. 5 stars for Pro Tech, Tehachapi.

You see all these 1 star reviews? That's because they deserve it. It looks like my review disappeared about when they tried to screw me over then locked the doors on me when I wouldnt have it. DONT GO HERE, worst place in ALL of Tehachapi!

Charged me $160 just to check the diagnostic to my car and it took them all day. Noting but a cash grab.

These guys are crooks, I brought my vehicle in for a brake and light inspection. A 350.00 dollar inspection. The guy at the front calls me, does not leave a voicemail so I called back. He stated my vehicle failed the inspection due to a brake light being out. I work in collision repair and my lights were all in working order. He then tells me he will put a bulb in for 80.00 dollars.I explained all light we’re working when I dropped off the vehicle. He said well they aren’t now. So I asked if I could come put a bulb in myself. He said if I did that he would have to charge me 700.00 dollars. It takes less than 5 minutes to install a brake light. So he pretty much strong armed me into paying the extra 80 dollars. I even called back to give tho owner a chance to call me before leaving a review. I never received a call. So here ya go, being in the automotive industry I don’t recommend this place to anyone
