Worst experience ever. Reserved a 15’ truck over a week ago, and the day before got a call that only a 10 was available. Told them I would have to make 2-3 trips because of the difference, and was given an extra day, and the promise of enough miles to cover the trips. When I got the truck it was considerably smaller then I thought, and called back. Was basically told “tough, we don’t have any 15’ trucks and this sounds like a “you” problem.”.
Was charged almost $500 for a 10’ truck for 36 hour. And that’s on top of the $200 I paid in gas. And what’s more, they switched the drop location on me at the last minute, which ended up with me standing outside of a gated locked storage unit at 7:30pm, frantically calling U-Haul numbers to get an idea of what to do. I will never use U-Haul again in Southern California again. Most of their people don’t seem to care, and they will rack up your bill in any way they can. The ONLY saving grace was the woman Ashley, who helped us figure out how to drop the truck off in a way that didn’t leave us liable for their piece of crap truck.
U-Haul corporate people, shame on you for hiring such condescending, sour employees. I don’t know if they make a commission off the rentals or what, but you can take the $500 I just paid you, knowing it will be the last from me, and from anyone who will hear me regarding this interaction. Horrible.
