For some reason this place makes you jump thru all these hoops to rent a vehicle....The U Haul near the Navy Base is much much more customer friendly and a lot easier check in and check out. Drop off at night, all I have to do is put keys thru door slot, this location, you have to put a steering wheel lock and go to this online link or they charge you money. Save yourself the hassle and go to the one on the base.

Easy, convenient truck rental. No issues from start to finish. Truck was clean and ready when promised. Fair price

Prices for packing materials here are waaay more expensive than you would find at a normal uhaul store. I got 5 boxes (a mix of smalls and mediums) and it totaled out to over $20????? Small boxes at uhaul are literally 99 cents. I realized my mistake after purchasing and asked if I can return them less than 5 minutes after the transaction and the desk person said they don't take returns. Uhaul takes returns. Save your money and go to uhaul instead. I literally live in alameda but I will make the extra time to go to a uhaul in Oakland.

First time I dealt with uhaul was 4 1/2 years ago. I ordered a trailer hitch and also rented a car dolly and a car trailer. Everything went smoothly with them and I was happy with my service. They have since that location. I just ordered another trailer hitch and after a week and a half of it not being shipped I had to cancel my order and order it from somewhere else. I had also reserved a box trailer from one location and I had gone there and they didn't have the reservation, they didn't have any trailers of the size I have requested and were not getting any in. They did help me at that location find one that was a half an hour further away and we got that one reserved. the first reservation was for a different amount that I was able to get a deal on. On the second one they would not honor it, U-Haul did call me and tell me that I would have had to go on to another location to pick up the trailer from the first reservation. I feel that U-Haul should have made sure that there was a trailer at the location where I had made my reservation and not tell me I had to go over an hour to pick it up myself. I feel it was U-Hauls responsibility to make sure to have the trailer at the first reservation location and that for me to not have to over an hour to get it myself. I am very unhappy with how this transaction was handled. The one star is not for any of the three locations I visited, it is for uhaul, and truth be told I don't even want to leave that!

**IF YOU DROP OFF TOUR U-HAUL DURING OFF HOURS** (yes it is a 24 hour drop off but there won't always be someone working there to collect the key) - you need to drop your key in the mail slot that's on the door to the kiosk where the person would normally be sitting. The mail slot is vertical. If you look in the mail slot you'll probably see other keys laying on the floor where other people dropped theirs. I spent a solid 45 minutes here looking for a key box and feeling like an idiot lol.

I am a newly divorced (28-year marriage), female who needed to retrieve items from my home that was about to go on the Market for sale. I had limited time, and thought renting a U-Haul vehicle would make things more efficient. I had a few "Technical Difficulties" because I've never had to deal with these issues before because there was a man in my life. WOMEN of Alameda... I feel so so Grateful to Sam (who has taken a few calls from me), And, absolutely love and recommend this particular U-Haul establishment!!!!!!

Don't rent a U-Haul here. It won't be there as expected. Every time something gets screwed up. Do they give a damn about their crap service? Nope. They can't even lift a finger to answer their phone (try calling them!). I've used them a few times (they're close to my house) and now I'm done with them. Every time I get a call that "the trucks not there and I have to go to Oakland" or "we're closing early get here now," blah, blah, blah. Just drive to Oakland for a rental in the first place. You'll end up going there anyways!

We reserved a truck to move from Somers NY to Jackson Hole, WY. We made the reservation 10 days ahead of time. We started calling the Cortland Town Center office 3 days prior to the rental date. The branch did everything they could to accommodate us. U-Haul however was just horrible. We were told they were looking for a truck. I thought that is what they do. Rent trucks. Take the reservation. Hold the reservation. Finally we are told they will call us by 6:00 pm Monday the night before we needed the truck. No call. I called the following morning and was told they did not have a truck. The rep then asked "do you want to cancel the reservation"? I said what reservation you don't have a truck. She then said I can give you $50 off. $50 off what you don't have a truck. Then she said "Sir would you like to cancel your reservation"? This was a supervisor I was talking to. I hung up. called Penske and had a truck 2 hours later. U-Haul you are horrible.

U-Haul customer service in San Clemente took the time to locate a hitch for my 1996 4x4 Truck, they kept me informed and worked me in their busy schedule. Their mechanic then worked around the custom bumper I had installed to make it work perfect. It took twice as long as it would have taken if I had on the standard bumper but he did it with a smile and didn't try to charge me anything extra. The guy cleaning up the yard while I waited impressed me with his work ethic and was happy and friendly. Nice to see someone thankful and enjoying their job in these difficult times. It was a Sunday so I couldn't thank the manager at the time, but if you read this I want to thank you and your crew for being so nice and informative. The three people I mentioned couldn't have been nicer or more professional. Can't wait to use my new hitch to put the used boat I just bought in the water. Thanks, Craig F

Worst experience ever, did everything online one day in advance, truck was promised at 9 am, when arrived only 2 people were "working" , the female was so lost , had no idea of what she was doing, her coworker had to correct several times what she was doing on the computer, anyways, got the truck 2 hours later! After paying in advance $223 , As a professional truck driver I performed a throughout pre trip and the truck was in great shape, just below the 1/4 mark on the fuel gauge, since I was going from Fontana to Hesperia I didn't see a motive to complain, after wasting 2 precious hours I just wanted to leave and start moving. Truck return was due the next day at 10 am, but my family and me did great so I returned the truck over 12 hours in advance, around 6 pm. When I dropped the keys at the counter of the 76 gas station they set up for me to return it, and after the clerk sent a guy to check the truck, he said; uhaul said you owe them $80 because is almost empty. $300 for 35 miles, 2 hours late to deliver the truck and truck returned after 8 hours of use? I don't think so, my daughter was paying for something and the clerk sent me back the keys with her, I went back inside and placed the keys over the counter again. $223 they charged me for their lousy service and $223 is all they'll ever get from me. Uhaul Fontana Ca on Foothill Blvd. I won't go back and I do not recommend it.

DO NOT RENT HERE!!! Should have listened to the other poor reviews! I would give zero stars if I could. Made a reservation one month in advance only to show up to a note on the door stating "manager is unexpectedly out sick." Thank you for not planning ahead to cover your absence and wasting an hour and a half of our moving day.

The uhaul at 3307 us hwy 92 are a bunch of thieves, the owner had the nerve to charge me close to 400 dollars for a small box gmc with trailer, then she so money hungry she said that i went over my miles, why the heck would i take a vehicle that had limited miles. Then she tried to use her paperwork by saying oh its in the contract, but she never told me a thing before i took the truck. Then whe i returned she hit me with a 100 dollar fee for going over her mileage, then she said the gas needle was a quarter tank short, it wasnt, it was a hair line off full, they still charged me. Beware these people like to play the hidden fees game, and i will never ever use this crappy company again, ill go to hertz.

Central Storage and UHaul Review Customer Service at Central Storage in Alameda Retail clerk gave me excellent attention to my needs. Thanks Miguel. He handled multiple customers as a solo customer agent. He adapted to multiple problems, for example when I had a problem on my truck, he gave me the only remaining truck, he was knowledgeable about products and services, very helpful. Operational System Disjointed The reservation system for trucks is broken. If you want to change your reservation time or date, the Uhaul team can't confirm if a truck is available. If you want a truck, you physically go into their office when it opens and cross your fingers. Uhaul customer service center can't talk to the local customer service agent, nor can they refer you to do the same. The local agent doesn't know, until they empty the key dropbox and look in the parking lot. Even then, you may not get a truck because a mechanical issue may lurk. I ended up going to a tire center to pump up a flat tire, in order to safely drive a backup truck, because my reserved truck had a dead battery. The business card they give you at the desk has a phone number that is for storage units and worthless for truck rentals. These two companies don't talk to each other. It's a terrible communication system if you call Uhaul, they can't forward your call to the actual front desk of Central Storage. Central Storage has no info on your transaction with Uhaul, nor will they make a suggestion to look on your bill for a different phone number. I received rude and disrespectful treatment when simply asking about my bill. Uhaul phone support finally came from a separate call center and separate phone number that I found on my credit card statement. By the way, it was different than their number on their rental agreement invoice. Go figure. Summary Getting What You Need --Truck-YES --Good Rate-NO, Home Depot beats Uhaul for non-local moving. HD does hourly billing, Uhaul does mileage billing. --Knowledgeable Local Rep-YES --Explanation of T&Cs-NO. Surprised to learn that default arrangement of 'In-Town' rental has a different set of terms from 'Local' rental, and was not offered an explanation.
