If you are a military person, a police officer, anyone practicing their 2nd amendment rights, they HAVE BANNED YOU from rescuing dogs from their shelter. As someone who has been rescuing for over 25 years I am stunned that political ideology comes before finding animals homes. I used to frequent their establishment every few weeks in search of my next rescue. I have even considered fostering a senior and was told I can't because we have a gun.

Dani adopted a cat with giardia to us, and proceeded to ignore our concerns about his health and his behavior towards our other cats (even drawing blood in fights). I paid hundreds of dollars to get this diagnosis and treatment from a vet and they aren’t even willing to give back my $50 “adoption deposit” even though we fostered him prior to adoption . DO NOT do business with this shelter, please go to a reputable shelter that can provide a certificate of good health at the time of adoption. Not just one that asks for 50 bucks on Venmo and calls it a day. Unbelievable.

On my way from the gym I stopped to look at a cute poodle in the Shelter Hope window. The sign said "Open" but the door was locked. The woman who owns the shelter unlocked the door and tells me "You have to sign a release to put your hand in by the dogs", then asked "do you want to know how it works?". I said I just wanted to know more about this dog, and she starts by saying "These poodles had their barkers removed at the breeder and when they try to bark it sounds like a cough". I said "so they had surgery?" Suddnely she became rude and said "You are not listening. I did not say they had surgery. I said they had their barkers removed at the breeder and when they bark it sounds like a cough". I said "So how do they have their barkers removed?", and she replied "I guess you can call it surgery* if you like!" then abruptly turned around and walked away from me.As I left I took a last look at the doggy and felt sorry that such a rude, condescending, obstructionistic individual has power over her destiny. I am in the medical field and know what surgery is. And I am an animal lover and have taken good care of many pets over the years. I won't say "Avoid Shelter Hope" - because the animals deserve placement and better care than this horribly rude woman provides.*it is surgery - look it up

We couldn't be happier with our recent addition, Gizmo (formerly Arctic)! Everyone at the rescue was extremely kind and loving to their puppers. She gets along so well with her new brothers and sisters -- cats, dogs, and a bun! Special shout-out to Raquel and Imogen for their help with everything.

Worst place ever!!! First I received a phone call saying my application was approved and I could pick up the dog on Sunday at 1:00. I call prior to leaving to confirm the price 450.00. I am told by Raquel the dog is not there??? Then the run around begins the dog is getting vetted, the dog is getting neutered, the dog is with a foster. I think it’s the bleach blonde hair dye that is affecting her judgment. I am so upset I had my heart set on that lil guy. Then the so called owner calls me and tells me, “I was never approved.” WHAT!?!? She doesn’t let me even speak her mouth is running non stop. She didn’t want to hear a word I had to say. She definitely can use some customer service training. The only nice one there is the young daughter. Be very careful with these people. I felt I was discriminated against for being Hispanic.

This is the absolute worse place to try and rescue a dog. I was told I was approved by Danielle to adopt a particular dog. Danielle schedule an appointment for me on a Sunday to pick up the dog. I call on Sunday to confirm the fee only to be told by Raquel the dog is not there. Raquel also tells me I need to have an interview by Cynthia. I speak to Cynthia who also tells me I am approved and she will call me back to give me a date to pick up the dog. The call never comes. I call in vain no call backs. I ask for the manager Kim who finally calls me back and will not even listen to what I have to say. Kim talks over me is RUDE and tells me my application is not approved. Bottom line they all lie there and you end up broken hearted with no dog. This rescue is not professionally run at all. I am going to pursue further action against this rescue. It is not right the way they treat people who want to give a dog a loving home.

Wow, so evil people really do hide behind and represent the innocent anaimals. Please don't walk, run away from this place. They should not be in business, and not be supported by the community. Visit your local Humane Society!

We found a stray and tried to find the owner so we took him to the rescue. We new we made a mistake and called asap and requested the dog back we had grown to love him. We offered to pay the fees but was told no with out explanation. Asked the clerk to have owner call us but never happened. So unsettle clerk was awful. We want the dog back we have a good home big yard but we made a bad choice and they refuse to let us have him. They said wait till he's put up for adoption then try to pass the requirements. It was only 2 hours from when we called them took him then asked for him back. Rudly told no. We are heart broken

Five reasons to go to the Agoura Shelter over this place. 1. They don't care at all about the dogs. 2. Based on another review they adopt out other people's dogs??? 3. They use dogs who need homes as political weapons. They deny dogs good forever homes if they don't like a potential pet parent's political views. They ask your views and if they disagree with your views, then they will not let you adopt or foster. You could have a beautiful loving home perfect for the dog but the dog will have to go without because they don't like your views. This is evil. 4. Staff is rude, especially Kim the owner. 5. The owner and staff will talk badly about you behind your back in front of the whole business including other customers, so unprofessional!!

Do not do business with this place. They are nothing more than a political my way or the highway business that stated if you don't agree with our political views we will not allow you to adopt a pet. Look at all the negative reviews for this pathetic business. Go to a place whose only concern is finding good homes for animals.
