Great store if you're a fan of anime/manga/vtubers. Keep in mind apparently the vtuber merch is a little expensive even by vtuber standards.

More than half of the items they sell here are not authentic. ALOT of really cheap quality stuff mixed in. Make sure you check what you are buying.

There is a lot to see here for anime collectors, and their prices are pretty fair for a brick and mortar store.

Very neat location. It's not much compared to the huge japan locations but its nice to have. Most of the merch is mainstream anime stuff. If you're into more niche things, it might be hard to find here but there are few. For Vtuber fans, this is heaven for you bc half the store is that, which is a bit of a shame to me.

Where's all the Bleach TYBW stuff? Like what you see in this screenshot! My main disappointment stems from the lack of Bleach here and everywhere!

FINALLY MADE THE PILGRIMAGE!! As the first and currently only US branch for Animate, this is a must stop for all weebs and otaku out there. While I agree with the general consensus that YES, it is pretty EXPENSIVE there are still lots of merits to visiting the shop.Yes, you would be hard pressed to find any merchandise for any anime series that is over 5+ years old here (you know, unless it's had a recent movie released, revival, or is just always very popular -I'm talking Haikyuu and NGE). A good chunk of the shop was Blue Lock, Haikyuu, Chainsaw Man, Demon Slayer, Re: Zero, Quintessential Quintuplets, Sono Bisque Doll, etc. I saw like one item for Ousama Ranking and small sections for Oshi no Ko and Bocchi the Rock. Currently they have special small "event" for the BL series "Given" so there's art in the back and merchandise too. Actually for all the fujoshis/fudanshi, BL/Yaoi enjoyers they surprisingly decent selection. Of course there's manga in the back, but they had merchandise for Ten Count and the gacha game Nu Carnival. They also had some merch for some series that's harder to find goods for. Not technically anime, but there's also LOTS of Genshin Impact and OF COURSE V-TUBERS. You have a V-tuber oshi? And you have a fat wallet? Then you're good to go! You can easily create an ita bag with all of the V-tuber goods here and they even had really unique items like the coat hanger with the V-tuber shoulder up. I also saw some goods for Nikke Goddess of Victory and some FGO goods too (both game goods and goods for Fate Grand Carnival Phantasm and for the Camelot movie). I did manage to get some goods I didn't have and a Santa Karna stand so I left happy. There are some prize figures and some of the larger figures along with Pop-Up Parade and Nendoroids. Some CD's and vinyl records, manga, and art books. What I really liked was that they had some itabag/merchandise storage items such as these cute jar acrylic covers (I got 2 of them) and a cool acrylic/cheki holder (unfortunately $40...). I hope they expand this section though! It was a pretty busy Sunday, but staff was efficient and very kind. I joined their membership program (just add phone number and e-mail) and I think there's a point system. In the corner there's the good old Bandai Gachapon area too. Hoping they open more of these so I don't have to travel all the way here, but all in all, despite being quite pricey (I'd check online prices and how much most of these go for at cons), it's worth the visit if you're really into anime!

Surprisingly, they had some unique merchandise. 75% was just popular American anime items, but there was some rare items that shocked me.Fairly priced in my opinion. Definitely not overcharging.Very clean and organized store better than most in LA including Little Tokyo. All the mangas are still wrapped up, which is amazing because it prevents people from opening it, and ruining in the books.Sadly the whole middle aisle shelves were empty. I'm not sure if they're were restocking or if they haven't finished setting up the store. All employees were friendly and I would definitely recommend checking it out.

I was excited to visit the first Animate in the US. I just came back from Japan so that might have biased my perception a little. Everything was well organized but prices were double of those in Japan and similar to what you would get at Kinokuya. They had a little Given pop up exhibit which was cute, but overall only worth a visit if you're in the area. I feel like Book-off has a better variety of goods in the same mall.

Came here on opening day and had fun visiting. I loved shopping and window shopping. They mostly had mainstream stuff (not surprised). On day 1 I saw a big Nijisanji section (lots of nijipuppets, acrylic stands, some framed merch, etc), the Hololive collab (also lots of Hololive in general), a decently sized figure collection (none secondhand and of various sizes), lots of manga, artbooks, Nu Carnival, lots of Genshin, gacha machines, small BL merch section (but lots of BL manga), Jujutsu Kaisen, Spy x Family, lots of Blue Lock, lots of Haikyuu, Attack on Titan, Bleach, The Quintessential Quintuplets, Tokyo Revengers, Oshi no Ko, Obey Me, some Fate merch, lots of Radio Eva (Evangelion) merch, and much more. Don't recall if I saw Naruto. On what they didn't have, they didn't really have an otome game or josei section. No Honkai Star Rail (likely because it's very new). No Holostars despite having Nijisanji and Hololive. No Pokemon.Generally merch would range from figures, nendoroids, clear files, blind boxes, acrylic stands, nuis (chibi dolls), bromides, keychains, clothing (depending on series), and can badges (pins). There were also small acrylic stands in the Genshin section that doubled as a keychain. If you don't really collect merch, this is what merch is generally nowadays. In terms of pricing the items were marked up from their yen prices. Some items were still a deal depending on what you bought and taking shipping prices into account. Some stuff in the store you couldn't find online at a reasonable price anymore and wouldn't even be on their online shop either. But if you're an online shopper and spot something you like, check to see if the same item is cheaper elsewhere if you want to save money. I also compared prices with some other stores in Little Tokyo like Kinokuniya and Soragumi that had some of the same merch and Animate was just slightly more expensive (like a buck or two).

You want to be yelled at by a gray blue witch? Come here! First, Lots of anime goodies. Expensive but I have no idea why. All I know is I keep paying for them and they look like regular cloth plastic things my kids collect. My child was asking to come here after we got back from our cruise. I got yelled at by gray blue hued hair Asian WiTCH by sitting on the bench/shelves of the store which I unknowingly not know was a shelving because it did look like benches like in a shoe store. Her tone was really rude and loud like almost screaming but she did say PLEASE. After I apologized and said I am just waiting for my kid and I didn't see any sign that says don't sit here she made sure I don't sit again so she repeated "DON'T SIT on our SHELVES!!!" I guess I got my first "Californian Rude" attitude from all these years coming to California. So, don't make the mistake of sitting on those blue benches if you don't want that Witch to yell at you.
