My first eye exam and I went on 1.24.24. Dr. Shimizu explained in detail and was very thorough. My eye exam went very well. Don Salguero (Optical Manager) excellent service and explained and was patient and kind! I purchased my first pair of prescription glasses at the age of 53! Thank you very much.Rowena

The doctor here is phenomenal! Top Notch!! The doctor has been here for years! And he’s a super sweet man!!I've brought my kids here throughout the years and never had any issues with the doctor or the optical department staff. However, the front office staff does not seem to retain their employees for long periods of time!Don Salguero, is their new Optical Manager. He most definitely needs to be replaced!He has brought down the quality of the front office experience! And I am afraid they may lose more customers if he continues to abuse their patients!He has poor customer service skills and zero listening skills! He imposes his opinions and flaunts his position! Arrogance and a total power trip! Belittling a patient should not be tolerated by any employers!! Some people do not belong in these types of positions!!If you wait too long to respond, think or answer, he assumes he is right!!?? It’s his sinister attempt to try to throw you off!! Who does this!!!?? This is called gaslighting!! WOW!!He really needs to learn how to be a professional!! Slow down and truly listen to hear a patient in a genuine way, instead of preparing for a response before the patient can finish their sentence!! This act in itself, proves the truth that he is NOT suitable for this role!! He simply cannot listen!! He is too busy trying to be right!! Cutting a patient off with his idea of what’s happening is terrible and just outright WRONG!!Dealing with the public in a medical profession requires special skills, especially when it comes to your vision!!In my 3 visits for my appointment, pickup and return, he was consistent in his ways!! I mean read the other reviews!!!He made assumptions, interrupted me numerous times trying to tell me about my own experience with responses in a snarky tone and a sinister smile!! I am in the optical department, NOT a PSYCH WARD!!He comes off imperialistic and gaslights you any chance you get to speak! The constant interruptions are unprofessional and rude!! They in no way show any compassion for what you are experiencing!! His answers and results are in NO way in any attempt to remedy the situation!He comes off like he's ‘trying’ to "take care of you" but I KNOW when I’m being belittled, disrespected and cornered to feel like I’m dumb or wrong!! I am the one experiencing the issue, not him for gods sake!!By the time I left, I was filled with anxiety and just straight out baffled by this behavior and the whole experience, ordeal!!Gaslighting a customer is horrendous and intolerable! Who does the hiring here??He tells you that:“he's his own boss and that he reports to no one! He makes his own hours and that if I have a problem with his service, I can call the customer service number posted near the register (pointing at the customer service number) that the number is no secret! That he will note my account!”He looks at you while smiling like you’re crazy!! You CANT get anymore sinister than this!!So my question is, why would I ever need to contact a customer service number, when I have a human in front of me who ‘SHOULD’ be able to help me?? Who SHOULD have the proper skills and abilities to provide professional respectful courteous customer service!!Not once did he apologize!! He just kept interrupting my attempt to be heard!!TERRIBLE!!I left frazzled, shakey and filled with so much anxiety!! NO CUSTOMER should ever be made to feel this way!!! This is abuse!!Whoever is doing the hiring needs to reevaluate their candidates’ qualifications!!!And BTW, I did end up calling the CS number and Jay was profusely apologetic for my experience and stated he would have the District Manager contact me.I am still waiting for a call 4 days later!!

So me and mom went in. Okay let's give them a try even though we read the reviews they were horrible that's why they have two and a half stars but anyways we went in and felt like we were so misled Don was very rude I had to go and jump some hoops and loops went downstairs talk to the manager they said they get so many complaints we wanted one pair of glasses when you're done getting talk into to pair which is supposed to be 149 and that being 194 we did not ask for the upgrade for the protection the glasses are cheap anyways don't even know the name of the company all I know is they r intCPenney's and we can use our JCPenney's card so finally got ahold of the district manager and she took down the complaint basically that was it she said nothing wasn't cancelled and she calls on a Saturday when I'm working and says yes it was canceled Thank God . Make sure peeps they have a consultation and they explain everything to you before you purchase✌? out and good riddance . Back were we started great customer service at Costcos and Sam's club thank God

Under new management! I believe his name is Don. He is super helpful and very knowledgeable! I’ve had bad experience with other opticals before where they don’t really give you options and just a price. I would like to understand what I’m getting than just given a huge quote and don explain everything I ask and there prices are great!

I just want to say that I love JCPenney optical. A very big shout out to Melissa that works there. She has helped me many times. I am not good at picking out glasses for myself. I had been in a rut for years always picking the same type of frames from somewhere else. I stumbled upon JCPenney optical and I have not looked back. Melissa was there the first time I went into the optical store. I will only specifically go when she is there. She is so sweet, friendly and most of all helpful. She has excellent taste in my opinion. I hope she works there forever. lol Highly recommend! I have bought several pairs of glasses and sunglasses there. I go in when my glasses get bent and I need new pads for my glasses. She always cheerfully helps me! I hope this review helps someone like me who didn't know where to go for glasses. I am a female and 58 years young.

Beware!there's only one optical associate and they usually take a 4 hr lunch break from 1pm - 5pm. Reminder this place closes at 6pm
