Nijiya Market in Torrance is a favorite Japanese market in the South Bay, appreciated for its variety, hours, and location. It is a moderate-sized spot tucked away on a residential street. While not as expansive as other locations, this store excels in quality and offers a fantastic shopping experience. A major highlight is its quite good bento section, known for large quantities and good taste at a reasonable price. The deli is great, with a nice selection of bento boxes and prepared meals. Shoppers find a wide selection of fresh produce, Japanese groceries, and specialty items in a neat, clean, and cute environment. A notable feature is the 20% discount on all prepared meals close to the 10 PM closing time. The market provides a great indoor and outdoor eating area, though the outdoor space can sometimes be left messy. For many, the store offers a wonderful experience that feels like home.
Awesome place to find imports from Japan. Their Fuji apples were as delicious as the ones I had in Tokyo a couple of years ago. Also, great sushi and sashimi selection. Worth trying it.

this is my favorite market in CA period. service staff is great. customers are normal-ish middle class. products are solid. cherry on top? they don't accept EBT. no 3rd world vibes aka star wars cantina contingent is non present. this ain't the nightmare that is costco.
