Fantastic hike of about 7 miles with breathtaking views from the summit. The beginning was a bit rocky, but the trail is well-maintained by PCTA volunteers. Along the way, there's an abundance of flowers, butterflies, and streams formed from melting snow. Once atop Donner Peak rock, you're treated to a spectacular vista of Donner Lake below.

I hiked the Mt. Judah loop trail, which was relatively easy. Total milage was 5.6. The beginning of the trail had several switchbacks through a rock garden, which took some time navigating. The views of Donner lake and surrounding area were great.

Great hike on PCT with incredible views. A casual one hour uphill hike and easy rock scramble up Donner Peak in late afternoon when the angle of the sun is low for the perfect fall colors display.

Fantastic hiking area with well marked trails and a wide variety terrain to explore. Be aware these trails are at elevation and might take longer than expected to complete if you are coming from sea level, bring extra water & snacks!

This is always a must hike when we visit the Donner area. The start and end of the hike is the toughest as it is rock paved switchbacks. Once into the trees, the climb is beautiful and full of wildflowers at this time of year. It is closer to 5.5 miles if you do Mt Judah loop and also scamper to Donner Peak. Amazing views at every bend

Very confusing trailhead, if you park up by the main (east/west) Donner pass road walk South along the 1 lane road to get to the trailhead, that is if you're not going to the rail tunnels. The PTC and Donner peak are both nice, but can again become confusing due to crossing the ski area, so watch close for PTC signs.

Pretty narrow trails but it’s not too crowded. Difficult to back country ski or snowshoe when the snow is really packed. Otherwise, great views and easy to get to the top of the mountain.

Snowshoed up Donner. It was unbelievable, picturesque and empty. Would recommend microspikes near the top of you want to climb the boulders at the top.

Great place to ski, snowboard and snowshoe. Parking and traffics can be rough depending on snowpack. Amazing panoramic views on clear days.IG: @adventureoveramenities_

It's a beautiful and clean hike. Moderate to strenuous.. your reward would be to sit at 8,243 high and watch Donner lake and all the natural beauty you can enjoy. I couldn't help myself thinking GOP folks would want to open a McDonald's there and trash it. Anyways.. please go on as many wonderful hikes, like this one, as you can.. simply because you can. And nobody else can do it for you.. all this nature and beauty was created for you by the God.Its an hour drive from Roseville and parking can be little hard if you go late. We went at 9:30 in Saturday and grabbed the last one.
