Well it's a safeway in a place that otherwise might not have a big grocery store. My impression is it's serving a lot of the tourist community -- I was there on a Friday night doing shopping for my own ski vacation -- so prices might be a bit high and grocery stores as a whole have become less service oriented. The self checkout line moved relatively quickly and they had lots of stuff but nothing too specific (e.g., if your looking for more rare spices you probably won't find them there). So 24 hours plus has a pretty good variety of stuff = 4 starts.

If you like to wait in lines, this is your place 2 checkouts at 4 pm. You'll wait 30 minutes Who could ask for more?

Convenient location. Anna (checker) was friendly and personable. Produce and other items I was shopping for was in stock and easy to find, which is typical of most Safeways.

I placed an order in the morning and waited all day and then never received it. They didn't notify me it wasn't coming. When I called them and they said it wasn't coming they said it would take a few days.

Price gouging! I've found the same items at the competition for less than half the price. They may blame it on inflation, but that's b.s. Inflation numbers come nowhere close to their price increases.

Very busy, crowded & high prices. Workers we're extremely slow and it took me over 10 minutes to check out my 3 items. The least they could do is add more checkouts.

A ton of people shopping and they only have two registers open. Absolutely ridiculous. Waiting in a line of 15 people long. Come on Safeway get your act together. No one can wait that long, where are all your cashiers? Do NOT come here, go to the Raleys down the road in Truckee. This place is a giant joke. And the people who work in this store don't seem to know where anything is located. Management can apologize all day long but there's no excuse for running a store so poorly. Definitely try the Raleys down the road. Even if it's crowded, they have a ton of registers open and their people are very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly.

The tune never changes as once again, another busy weekend and both Sat and Sun the checkout lines are halfway down the isle with only two check stands open. How can management be this bad???I seldom go on weekend's except our son visited for the weekend with some friends and we needed to make an extra trip. Raley's had six check stands open when I went Sat afternoon and today even Save-Mart, that does 1/2 the volume of Safeway, had three stands open.If Safeway's competitor can schedule the correct staffing on a weekend, the only reason Safeway cannot is poor management. Time to clean house maybe? I've been loyal to Safeway since the 60's when it was located where Ace Hardware is now, but no more.

This store is there... that's really about all I can say about it. Extremely crowded all the time, products mostly in stock, but because the store is so crowded, it's hard to shop. Prices OK for Truckee, nothing really special about it compared to other Safeway locations.

April 4th I entered to find all shopping baskets missing in the breezway. Odd. Continued to go about my business in the store and upon leaving, aha mystery solved. The short, chubby, latino Michelle just stood there in self checkout with a huge stack of shopping baskets all piled up the wall right behind her. Plenty of downtime to put them where they belong adjacent/near the Basket sign, it's 5 seconds away!! Just a few steps away to toss a few back. Instead she decided we need to fumble around carrying our items. Hindering customers from shopping by obtusely mis-placing baskets out of laziness is not okay. She acts as if you are bothering her when asking for assistance too

This Safeway met expectations. Clean well stocked store. Long check stands unless you're willing to use the self check. Worked great for me. Convenient parking. Unfortunately, vagrants hanging out in the front.

Safeway located in Truckee, CA is a good spot to Go if you'll need some grocery's when staying near North side Lake Tahoe area, they mostly have everything you'll need from Vegetable's, Fruits, Water, Adult beverages like Beer, Wine, and Liquor etc and frozen goods like Tv Dinners. One thing that I don't suggest is buying their steaks here it's very high in price (IMO) I wanted to get RIB EYE steaks And it was price so high like two steak slabs for $50-$60 dollars, I'd rather drive up to COSTCO at RENO (30 min drive) and grab their RIB EYE STEAKS there way cheaper and I'd say better quality and quantity. Parking - Don't have too worry about parking lots of parking space so it's a plus (I seen on other Yelp reviews that people had a difficult time with parking space owners who had Big trailers) One thing I wish they could do better is if a staff member could organize the checkout lines with a better System (there's some customers who think their right when forming a ling like ohh line supposedly be form this way that way etc.) LIKE CMON Also don't forget bring your grocery bag if can cause if not then it's 10 cents a bag for your grocery's

Delicious Doughnuts!! Nice one stop shop for anything you need. Store is ran very well but lines can be long. Ryan who works in Starbucks and sometimes in the self checkout area is fantastic. Everyone is friendly with one exception, Michelle. She's a short woman with black hair who sometimes appears at self check out. She comes across as self-entitled and can be curt/rude. She also works in slow motion

Bottom line: it's a relatively big Safeway with everything you need: milk, eggs, meat section, fresh fruits, canned items, and alcohol. It's about 6-miles away from Northstar/Ritz Carlton, so a relatively short drive to get your essentials for your cabin/condo/lodge/room. It's about 2-miles down the road from Raleys near Tahoe airport so if you want o save some money and come down here, it may be worth it. - Customer service was average - Venue was clean and items were well stocked - Just beware of holiday shopping like anywhere else and build in time to stay in line. Self check out is available.

Very nice large store. Shelves are usually stocked well. They can be busy on Friday afternoons when the weekend tourists arrive.
