Extremely rude for no reason. I just walked in to drop off a pre paid package and the lady working the desk was very angry with me for not knowing immediately where the drop off location was. I was the only person in the store

This store has always been so helpful and friendly in true Truckee style.
Until recently they have a new member of staff who is incredibly rude, unhelpful and dismissive. The person does not even acknowledge you when you walk in the store just continues about what they were doing as if you were not even there.

They close whenever they want, regardless of posted hours…
2 + hours in the middle of the day yesterday. Shut 3 1/2 hours early again today. They don’t care at all about posted hours, just stick another sign on the door.

Rude, Deceptive Management – Refused to Release My Packages Unless I Paid $100+ in Surprise Fees
I’m a seasonal worker living and working in the Truckee area for the summer. Like many others in this town, I live out of a camper in the mountains and don’t have a fixed address. I called this UPS Store at 12030 Donner Pass Rd in advance to ask if I could have several small personal packages sent there. I explained clearly that they were multiple lightweight shipments from Timu—not Amazon or a single bulk delivery—and I was told there’d be no problem. Not once did anyone mention any kind of receiving fee.
I picked up one package without issue. But when I returned to collect the rest—about 10 small packages—the manager suddenly demanded $10 per item, over $100 total, and when I said I had no idea there were fees, she looked me dead in the face and said “Well if you don’t have the money, they’ll be returned to sender.”
No empathy. No responsibility. No acknowledgment that her employee gave me wrong information. Just a flat, cold ultimatum.
These weren’t frivolous packages—they were important items for my dog and vehicle. I’d already paid for everything weeks ago. Now, thanks to this manager’s rudeness and the store’s complete failure to disclose any policies ahead of time, I’m stuck waiting another 3–4 weeks (if I even get a refund) and possibly losing money I can’t afford to throw away.
They knew I didn’t have a mailbox. They knew I was living rough. They could’ve warned me, worked with me, or offered a solution. Instead, they saw a pile of packages and saw dollar signs.
If you're a traveler, seasonal worker, or anyone just trying to receive mail in Truckee: avoid this store completely unless you already rent a mailbox. Otherwise, you’re one miscommunication away from a massive bill and an even bigger headache.
I’ve never been treated so coldly by someone in a customer-facing role—especially after trying to do everything the right way.
Shame on this store’s management.
