You have to do everything online now. DL renewals, registration, change of address, etc. which is fine, but when I do it online, there’s always a problem. One time they sent my registration to the wrong address another time they sent me my tags and withdrew the fee from my bank then months later, said I owed and absurd amount of money because of how late my tags were. Luckily I had receipts and the tags to prove I paid. So this time I went in person to change my address (I just moved) and Renew license and registration. They kicked me out and said I have to do it online, took 3 days for my address to change/be approved. Then I tried renewing my license, only for the system to tell me I’m ineglbile for online renewal and need to go in to the office…. I work Monday-Friday 8am-5pm so I had to call off work a day to go in just to be turned away then turns out I do have to go in person… so now I have to call in again.. I tried booking an in office appointment but of course it says renewals have to be online. So I go back to try to renew it online and it tells me I’m ineligible to renew online. It’s ridiculous how much I go in circles. I can’t keep missing work, they need to figure out how to get organized because it’s hard to do things like this. When they turned me away the first time I explained the situation.. it’s just so frustrating so be back and forth

California needs to work on getting all offices running in a more functional manner with the changing times. Clear labels with direction would be a help. These offices get overcrowded too quickly, and it turns into a cluster jam far too often. With many services being taken online only, this should help eliminate any extra issues. It doesn't. California, do better for your people and expand these offices with more space, parking, and better signage for customers. Turlock is not as bad as Modesto. I suggest booking an appointment otherwise you may wait for 2 hours to be seen.

Every time I come here I think I get everything I need done but then turns out there random form they “forget” to inform me of and I end up needing to waste more of my time going to do that because for some reason they are incapable of getting everything in one visit

Horrible place to take your drivers test they find any little thing to fail you for , I was told I did good but only reason they were failing me was because of my tire being low that it was a automatic fail. Why let me take it if they knew it was an automatic fail? Just money hungry because now I have to pay to retake it. Lady with glasses is the worse person to be getting for a drivers test seems like she just wants to makes someone’s day automatically bad with her know it all attitude and rudeness .LEAVE if you see yourself getting her for your drivers test.Extremely RUDE.

Went to get a one trip permit. Waited over 2 hours. How? Something that should take 5 min took over a 2 hour wait on a non busy day. Workers suck. They feel entitled. Rude/mentally abusive. Wait forever to get yelled at? Manager with short hair and highlights walks out to look at the crowd and runs back into office instead of helping. You got to be kidding. Old lady that helps when u first walk in is stupidly rude. She's been like this forever. Pathetic place pathetic workers. No accountability. This is why they act all high and mighty. They don't get in trouble for anything
Update: 3 hours now. Saying there doing the best they can with 3 people working. Nice sweet. With over 10 people working but 3 helping customers. Cool much appreciated
Update: wow. Rude lady with salt pepper hair mostly salt and big is very rude. Don't know her name. Why are they allowed to noy wear name tags? Ridiculous....as u can tell i got time

They get you in and out pretty fast. The staff is mixed. Some are nice and friendly and a few are impatient. Parking is also good. Make sure you schedule an appointment if you have a computer.

1) There used to be a friendly employee at the front door, directing folks and answering basic questions. VERY HELPFUL. Not there anymore.
2) The footprint of the small south entry vestibule should be much enlarged, offering much more relief from the elements for those waiting outside, and even ….. (imagine!) chairs!
3) Or, at the very least, there NEEDS TO BE a PERMANENT ROOF-TYPE COVERING over the outdoor south waiting area. The outdoor lines can be very long, and the south side gets miserably hot waiting there in the unshaded direct-sun area, or miserable if it’s raining. This shelter from the elements IS NEEDED by those waiting for service there.
Not a huge cost to build. Would be well received and much appreciated - and those waiting would be less grumpy when they get inside.
4) I would very much appreciate a response on whether this is something that can be made to happen!
Thank you for reading.

Went to tags for my vehicle, vehicle was used as collateral for a loan. Had to add lien holder to registration, hadn’t noticed till I got home but they spelled my first name incorrectly, easy name to spell unless you work at dmv. They would not make the correction they created unless a rep from the financial office came down to dmv to make corrections. Now remember they (dmv)
Messed up, want me and finance company to do extra work for them when all that had to be done was add a letter in my name that they (dmv)
Left out. What a bunch of nimrods.

Even though the lines were long it went by fairly quickly. Just needs some attention on the lines either have a cone or personal directing because everyone was lost where the line ends or who's next in line ..very stressful ..

Always crowded, get an appointment if you can. If you only have to take a written check the box test, that is faster, it has its own short line, DON'T go on the regular line for all the other services.
I usually make my appointment on my DMV profile. It is so easy.
The parking lot was full (Monday 4-22-2024) and many were parking on nearby streets.
When you gotta go, you gotta go, to the DMV office of course. What were you thinking?

While it's still a daunting task, I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Times, they are changing, for the better if you can believe it. Sadly, I've been to 2 brick and motar DMV offices 5 times in the past two weeks for the same vehicle's registration request. Non-Op'ed since February 2010. Stolen in January 2024. Recovered by the Turlock Police Department in Early April 2024. ( Big shout out to them.. Thank you, TPD! You're awesome)
Payed registration fee. Smog Check passed emissions test. Insured w All-State. I was told that my tags were suspended and needed a reinstatement fee of 14 dollars but could only pay either the kiosk or online. Neither of which was possible due to a computer glitch. It is very frustrating in deed and not the average norm. Non appointment line times were surprisingly shorter than 15 minutes to initial check in & 30 minutes til exiting the building. Overall, 45 minutes to 1 hour is your average time lost on the TAXATION SITUATION. I digress. Kind regards...
