Unbelievable!!! Tech asked a different customer to help him check my car!! Bad business ethics!! The other customer told the tech that he thought I had a problem with a head gasket due to smoke. Clearly unqualified and not an employee. Tech takes his word for it and failed my car!
I went straight to a local shop in my town and it passed with no problem!!!
This business was trying to take advantage of me for being a woman!!!
I give you no stars!!!!

I just moved to Modesto and needed my car smogged. Mike was running the place alone and worked diligently to take care of the 4 customers waiting in line for the same thing. Mike was bright, kind, and very customer focused. Grumpy's will be my go-to for all future smog checks.

Although I was not able to get a smog due to an odd problem, the service was fantastic. I had a 2003 Buick car that somehow could not connect to the smog computer's software. The attendant's scanner as well as my own connected with my cars computer. Mine showed all my readiness monitors were completed and ready to go. The mechanic tried 3 times to get the smog computer to connect with no success. While I waited the attendant happily answered questions to all comers even while he was busy in the auto bay. I followed up the next day with my own dual OBD2 connector to see if it was the external connection as a problem. The mechanic tried it for the fourth time to no avail. They charged me nothing. The smog attendant told me he had one instance like me last year. Was it my car's software or the smog computer's software we won't know. I then went to Turlock Quick Smog off Fulkerth and got my smog certificate there. Tony, the owner, told me he had no problem with his smog computer. Anyway thanks to Grumpy's smog for not being grumpy and trying real hard to make it happen.

Super friendly!
Professional, courteous with a sense of humor.

He's a young man who is fast and efficient in getting your vehicle smog checked. And yes he is star certified! Easy in and easy out location on the corner of Canal and Golden State. I highly recommend this place.

I was in and out with in 20 min, Sergis the inspector was polite and on it. I would recommend this place to anyone who needs smog. Ask them about their window tinting to ,oh and least expensive in town.
