“I have been an IHG rewards member for almost 10 years since a great stay in Albany Oregon (wish I started as a rewards member sooner.) I have had great experiences in Holiday Inn Expresses like South Lake Tahoe, Twin Falls Idaho, Forrest City Arkansas, and especially Winnemucca, Nevada.
Already, I had to ding a star for the room refrigerator not only lacking a freezer compartment, but also figuring out that I had to briefly unplug it before going to bed due to its fingernails-on-the-chalkboard “buzz” that occurs as it runs after a few hours - luckily I figured it out. Also, the pool was rather icening cold and there was no hot tub to complement it. Not only that, the pool hours are limited from 9 to 9 - EXCUSE ME: some people are on work trips and would like to jump in before 9am and Ukiah is a great town where it can be difficult to return to the hotel before 9pm and relaxedly enjoy the pool.- both of those limitations apply to me. This is the first hotel of any brand I ever stayed at that had NOT ONE hallway garbage can on the second floor - WHICH IS AN INCREDIBLE INCONVENIENCE for those who make their own lunches such as myself. Here’s a back story: a hard-learned lesson was that I once saved an unfinished pizza for later in a Hampton room and the pizza box was loaded with ants at the time I wanted to finish it. So, it is important NOT to throw food scraps away in your room, so imagine having to go the distance and go down the elevator to throw scraps away when making your lunch. Formulaicly, Holiday Inn Expresses and Hamptons have a medium large garbage can near the elevator, some with garbage cans near the staircases at the end of the hall. Breakfastwise, I wonder why when I grab myself a breakfast table seat, turn off the TV due to its awful content, leave the table to get something additional from the nook, I SAW THE CONCIERGE turn the TV back on. The “importance” of TV’s being on featuring “if it bleeds, it leads news” makes me have to eat breakfast in my room instead of the spacious lobby with nice furniture. And, I find the per night rate not competitive.
On the positive note, it was a nice convenient location with quick access to the “non-car” trail for going downtown. It had one of the best breakfast options (I harshly dinged the Windsor Holiday Inn Express for poor breakfast options.) Here, I learned that sausage gravy is great on potatoes. Yea, the buffet has it all except fruit (which is sadly rare nowadays in a hotel.) I really liked the perfect-sized toaster for my Bordenave’s Euro-wheat as a breakfast add-on and the Bordenave’s Rye that I use for my work lunch sandwiches. The room microwave easily fits an individual pizza. And, I like the fact that the fitness center has 2 ellipticals available; I used one of them (an unfortunate Windsor experience was the only one was taken during my limited morning time.) When I came in midday to get my phone charger, it was an interesting “suite”(pun intended) sight to see the maids at work. The night concierges Norma and Jade are quite smiley and nice.
In the aftermath of more often overpricing combined with shortcomings of value, I have another single credit card that has deals for Hilton, Marriott, and yes IHG too: so, a past-boss’s beloved Hampton (I’ve stayed in Hamptons on him) or the idea of a first time to experiment with the Fairfield Inn are open options for future Ukiah trips. In other words, the points advantage of this Holiday Inn Express is not entirely a slam dunk with my choice.”

“Room was clean and comfortable! There's a microwave and a mini fridge. Breakfast was in fact stocked, but my critique is that- there was very VERY limited options. I have a dairy allergy, and I pretty much was left with an apple. Maybe add a non-dairy milk? Some allergen free options?”

“I stay at this hotel for work, and my experiences have been a mix of good and bad. This visit, however, has been great. My room was clean, comfortable, and exactly what I hoped for. AP at the front desk was absolutely outstanding…friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful. He made check-in a breeze and provided exceptional customer service. Definitely a 10/10 experience on that front, and I highly recommend the hotel because of employees like him.

My one complaint is the room keys. They seem to stop working frequently. As AP jokingly advised, you might want to have the front desk rekey your room key every time you walk by on your way to your room. Thankfully, the staff is quick to help, but it would be nice if the keys were a bit more reliable.”

The new management is awesome, it's like night and day the rooms are cleaned daily and the managment actually cares for their customers. They're extremely respectful and are working on making the rooms better and better. Upgrading wifi and wiring they are making this place of business very good for its price range. “Pretty close to the 101. Thought it would be noisy but wasn't.. Plenty of parking, room was clean, shower/water pressure was awesome and seemed safe for a solo traveler/woman. Breakfast was simple: bagels, cream cheese, fresh fruits, waffles you can toast and beverages”

“A Great Value Stay
I recently stayed at the Quality Inn Ukiah and was thoroughly impressed with my experience. From the moment I checked in, it was clear that this hotel prioritizes cleanliness, comfort, and genuine hospitality.
The room was spotlessly clean — one of the cleanest hotel rooms I’ve stayed in recently. The bedding was fresh, the bathroom was immaculate, and everything was well-maintained. I felt very comfortable and safe the entire stay.
The hot buffet breakfast was surprisingly good! They had a nice selection of hot items including scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles, and fresh fruit. Everything was hot, tasty, and replenished regularly. It was a perfect way to start the day.
Another big highlight was how quiet the property is. Despite being conveniently located near restaurants and shops, my room was peaceful with minimal noise from the highway or other guests. I slept exceptionally well.
Finally, the staff was genuinely outstanding — friendly, helpful, and attentive. They made me feel welcome and were quick to assist with anything I needed.
Overall, the Quality Inn Ukiah exceeded my expectations in every way. Excellent value, great cleanliness, and wonderful service. I would definitely stay here again on my next trip to the area and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and affordable stay in Ukiah.
Thank you to the entire team! Keep up the great work! 🙌”
