Jim VanGordon is the real deal. His vast old school experience with muscle cars, and his engine building ability is second to no one. The racing history and equipment in his awesome shop just overwhelm an old car guy like me. Jim did some custom work on my 63 Ford Galaxie G Code 406 distributor and the car runs at a totally new level now. He is one of the last true old school racers.

As any of us who have been messing around with the old card and knows it's very hard to find an honest and reliable shop. Mostly they keep your car for 18 times longer than they initially say would be the case. This is definitely not the situation with Van Gordon racing. His shop practically looks like a dentist office with everything nicely organized and clean, a true testament to how he builds his engines and completes tasks on time. I had him work on my 66 nova engine and I was impressed with my bill. Yes, I said the bill. All the parts and prices were completely detailed as well as the time I was charged for. There was no BS'n with how he came about the final invoice or how much the individual parts cost. He even finished my engine when he said he would. Amazing!!!

I've been going to Jim Vangordon for a few years. I initially met him for a tune up and dyno session after I assembled a small block Chevy. He was impressed but gave me some constructive criticisms on areas I should have changed things, cylinder heads and camshaft. He made the car run as good as it could. He is a wealth of knowledge and treats people fairly. He recently built me a Big Block Chevy for a Camaro project and it is great! Save the headache of dealing with a crate engine and buy a custom built engine from a guy who knows this stuff like the back of his hand. If you're very particular about your race car, hot rod, muscle car, or classic car, you won't be disappointed here. Every question will get answered. Money well spent when you consider the experience and knowledge you're paying for.

Well a pretty bad experience to say the least. Assured me he could fix a misfire my car had. "I wouldn't take your car if I couldnt fix it." He said.$1600 later to attempt to fix ans no remedy was found plus an extra $400 because he thought a new part would fix it still all the same."Its the big cam that's causing a misfire or it could be behind your firewall sorry bud don't t know what to tell ya."Well that's that.

Jum is the best engine builder I know. He's built me everything from a 455 Pontiac to a 426 Hemi.

I've had my 63 Plymouth in 6 different shops over the last 6 months for various issues, and I've had to take it back multiple times for the same issues. Not so with VanGordon. These guy know old cars like I know the back of my hand. Even though their shop is almost 2 hours away, I will not take my cars anywhere else. Lesson learned! These guys rock and their prices are lower than you would expect from such a high-end professional shop.
