The people at Avis in Vallejo are very good, cordial, polite, helpful, but the promotion Avis company gave us (20% of total charge will go as credit on Amazon) totally sucks - instead of $46.5 Amazon credit they gave only $10.04.

Do not Rent from this place. If I could give them 0 stars I would. For starters they did not hold the car that we reserved. They then tried to charge us way more for a similar car. Then our credit card was denied 3x according to the Customer Service Rep. We were on the phone with the bank and they told us they were not running the card. They were saying "you don't have money" "you don't have money." We showed them our bank account because we were so pissed off at that point. They were super disrespectful and did not want to run any other cards. I will not be going back there ever. Horrible customer service.

I have rented from this location several times in the past 2 years using my debit card with no issues. The last time however, Iwas denied because according to the rental agent Avis checked my credit score (without my knowledge) and stated it was not acceptable for some reason. First of all, my credit score is not bad, its middle of the road. Secondly, I have never heatd of such a procedure usedfor renting a car. This is absurd. I was not purchasing a car, I was renting one. The funds were available, I have a spotless driving record. I view this as discrimination. There is nothing in your policy statement that even references credit checks as criteria for renting a car. I intend to take Avis to task on this. Even the agent there could not explain this to me. I needed to be somewhere that I had made an obligation to be there and because of this I could not fulfill it. I am furious about this.As I said, I am going to get to the bottom of this disgustingtreatment.

The manager Steven - helped us out in a semi emergency situation with a rental car. He was professional, courteous and handled the situation with professionalism. He got us a car when there were only a few left in the whole area and got us out of the office in 15 minutes. Steven-deserves a raise and should be recognized by Avis as an outstanding employee.Thank you for everything Steven!Kind Regards,Mike Rowan

Ah yes, the hidden toll fees. When we rented a car for a daily rental the clerk offered us the all day toll fee of $12.95 and we could cross bridges in the Bay Area 162 times a day if we were so inclined. I refused because we were only going to cross one bridge on our day trip, $7 toll, which he said would be charged to our card later in the week. Come to see the charge of $12.95 on our card for the one toll crossing. After hunting and pecking on the internet and clicking on a pop-up with fine print we see the lovely fee of $5.95 to process the one time toll. Bait and switch!

Very easy experience and the associate who assisted me was informative, helpful and polite. Extending the rental required me to call, I couldn't do so from the Avis app probably because I initiated the rental from the Uber app (even though the rental had nothing to do with utilizing the Uber platform it was just an option as an Uber customer). I had a slight issue with my billing, a incorrect fee but it was quickly credited at the time of my return. If you are renting with a debit card he was does accept these for payment there is a $200 deposit that's initiated with the total rental fee so beware of that those funds are not available to you until the car is returned. Also it may take about 2 to 3 business days for you to see the total amount that you will charge for the services deducted from your bank account. The car that I had a 2021 Toyota Camry was very nicely equipped, it was clean, and it had wonderful gas mileage as well as plenty of room and I also want to know that I chose the option at $11.99 per day to have the fastpass or the toll service option associated with my rental which gives you the ability to travel all over the bay and pay one fee for bridge toll at $11.99 per day instead of the individual tolls for the bridges which can vary. I will be renting with this particular location to Avis again and if you are looking for a smooth process a quick pick up a quick or drop off and pleasant service I would recommend that you use this location as well.

I've been here a few times. The customer service has always been good but they have been sneaky with the charges. On my most recent rental I turned in the car exactly 30 minutes late and was charged a $59 late fee on an $80/day rental. I think is safe to say that if I had turned in the car 30 minutes early I would NOT have received a $59 discount.Lastly, the operator likes to have you sign the vehicle condition form before inspecting the vehicle. I suggest kindly asking him to wait until you've walked the vehicle together. When I do this, he obliges with no problem. Remember, be your own advocate!

Do not rent from them! Multiple things went wrong during AND AFTER our pickup to where we literally just left without cancelling our reservation because of how uncomfortable and UNSAFE we felt. 1) POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE - When we arrived, a customer before us was dropping off his rental car and was complaining for 30 minutes. I'm not sure about what, but it set us back on our schedule. Shortly, we understood why he was so upset because of our own experience 2) THEY ASKED FOR OUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS - The clerk (assuming it was the owner since the location seemed franchised) asked for my friend's license, since she was the original driver on the reservation, and payment card for the deposit. He clearly stated a debit card is okay, but there would be a $250 hold. She handed her debit card over and he suddenly changed his mind and said, "No, no, no. No debit. It has to be a major credit card." Although he said debit is acceptable, but for a $250 fee. My friend did not have a credit card on her, so he asked for her social security number for a "soft credit check" and we were so confused. Reluctantly, she gave it to him, and he "ran her credit" and said she has been denied. Since I had a credit card on me, I asked if I can change it under my name. He said yes, but I have to change the reservation name by calling corporate. 3) THIS LOCATION WENT AGAINST CORPORATE - When I spoke with corporate to change the reservation under my name, I asked if giving our social security numbers was necessary and they said NO 4) THE LIES WE WERE TOLD - Other than saying our social security numbers were needed and that we can't use a debit card, he tried giving us a mini SUV although we reserved a small, compact car because that is what we are comfortable driving. In his lot, there were 4 Corollas and 1 Civic. We asked if we can use one of those instead, but he said they were unavailable and needed to be serviced. After switching the reservation under my name, he offered a smaller car to us only because we spoke with corporate and they confirmed that is what we reserved. 5) OUR LAST STRAW - or so we thought! Finally, we switched the reservation under my name. I gave him my major credit card that he swiped then said was declined, although upon leaving, I confirmed with my bank that I had more than enough available funds on there. So, he proceeded to ask for my social security number, which I secretly gave him off by one number (which is important information for what is to come next in #6) because it was sketch he asked for it in the first place. He also told me I was declined for a "soft credit check." So I gave him a second major credit card, which he didn't even swipe, but still told me it was declined. NONE OF IT MADE SENSE AND WE FELT UNSAFE, so we just left. 6) FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD - I will be reporting this location to the BBB! Fast forward to today (10 days after visiting the Avis Vallejo location on Solano Ave) I got a text from my bank saying there was suspicious activity of a $70 charge at a rental car place in Hawaii, while I am currently in California. I thought it was skeptical that it was also a rental car company charging my first card that he took (which, remember-- he swiped my first card and didn't swipe my second one) so I called my bank. While I am waiting to speak with an agent from my bank, I notified my friend who was with me and she told me how she got a text message 2 days after we went to Avis saying that her application needs to be completed to "build her credit," so obviously it had something to do with her social security number. Everything is leads back up to Avis in Vallejo being the issue because of the text she got, clearly linked with her SSN he obtained + me not getting that text because I didn't give my SSN + me getting a fraudulent charge on a card he swiped at a rental car company. I have attached her text message as evidence.

Came with a friend who booked our 2-day car rental here My friend booked under my name (she currently doesn't have auto ins), I suggested she can book under my name so we can use my auto ins to bypass the insurance coverage Avis offers. When we were checking in to pick up a car- He said I can use my debit card for the hold, which would be $250. I give him my license and debit card only for him to ask for my social, then tell me I can't use my debit card I need my credit card. Made no sense to me and I didn't have one on me. He said he has to run a soft credit check - I frequently check my credit score and anything when it reports, no soft credit check was pulled. My friend had her cc on her, so she asked why did he need my social and if she used her cc would we avoid all of this? He told us to call corporate to change the reservation name to hers. It took over 30 mins just to change the reservation name, only to go back inside for him to "swipe" her card to tell her it declined. He proceeded to ask her for her social and she asked why? He didn't have a valid point and I never experienced this when renting a car. Anywho, she gave him another cc and he said it was declined. We didn't even see him swipe it! Not only that he tried giving us a bigger car compared to what we selected when we made the reservation. We walked outside and agreed to walk away from this. 2 days later I got texts messages from places telling me to finish my application, weird cause I didn't fill anything out! 10 days later my friend got a fraud text from her bank, this is the first card she handed, from a car rental place in Hawaii! Idk how much of a coincidence that is, but NEVER GO HERE. Now I understand why the man ahead of us was so frustrated! Something shady must've happened.
