After living in Vallejo for years and years, I congratulate myself on finally finding Fred & Sons Automotive. As the owner of a 1982 Nissan Datsun Sentra wagon, I’ve worked with several mechanics in town to keep this little gem safely on the road. Fred is a gifted mechanic, and he’s a problem solver. He has the equipment, the knowledge, and the skill to do challenging automotive repairs. He detected and solved my ongoing overheating engine problem by following and securing an electrical wire. He used his shop press to replace the control arm bushings on my ‘82 Datsun. He rebuilt my carburetor without complaint because “(he knows) how to do it.” Little Betty’s now running like a champ. Fred provides reasonable rates for reliable and timely service. Wholeheartedly, I recommend Fred & Sons Automotive to all my friends in Vallejo.

Fred is honest and has stood behind his work. My review is long overdue, I have been coming here for about 15 years with various vehicles.He has worked on my Mercedes Cl65, Cadillac, two Honda's, Nissan 350z, Infiniti g37, Lincoln town car, Expedition, Dodge Dakota and will be working on anything I get in the future. He has saved me so much money over the years and has been honest and fair priced.Most of the services I do here are maintenance, like brakes, coolant flushes, belts, plugs, oil changes, AC charge and a few other here and there things. Best local shop hands down I've been to.Family business feeling, most locals know him well. If you haven't been to him yet, give him a try.

Fred use to be reasonable and fair. Now he doesn't have anytime or the man power to get the jobs done. He is also charging dramatically more than he use to just 5 years ago. I understand things change but something that use to be a few hundred is now just shy of a thousand.The shop is not technically savvy. It is not connected with carfax. So any work you get done here wont be reported to carfax, the bay is small. If he doesnt have room to park you inside the gates you have to park outside of his business and it is in the ghetto and right behind a gas station and right next to a bar. My dads stereo got stolen out of his truck one time and fred denied it was his worker even though it was parked behind the gate and nothing on the video tape showed anyone hoping into the property to get into my dad's truck. The only person that was in the truck was one of Fred's workers.If you have a cheap car that you dont mind getting cheap service but is expensive than this place is for you. If you need your car to "just get by" hes the guy for you. If you want it done right, professionally, and have everything reported back to carfax? Go to Milts Car garage service on tuolumne in vallejo.

I not good with car maintenance... but my husband Thomas is. We & our son's take all of our car's (Lexus, Honda, Ford & Nissan) to be fixed by Fred & Son's Automobile Repair. My sister in-law & her husband take their cars (Honda & Mitsubishi) there too as well my father in-law (Toyota). We also have friends who highly recommend this automobile shop

For many years, we have been taking all of our vehicles to Fred & Son's for our auto needs that I can't believe I haven't done a positive yelp review for him yet. Remember those days when you take your car to the dealership for routine maintenance and they come back with things that they "discovered" that need to be fixed which costs an arm and a leg? That's when we looked up local mechanics in the yellow pages (no internet then) and came across Fred and Sons. We told Fred what the dealership said needs to be fixed; he would look at it and tells us if the repair is even needed and if so, his services cost way less than the dealerships were charging. At times Fred would even visually point out fixes needed to our vehicles. He even shows us diagnostic readings if the engine light is on and explains its meaning for us to understand. In all the decades we have taken our cars here, we find Fred as one of those rare, honest, trusted mechanics that always goes the extra mile for his customers! I highly recommend him! I would give Fred infinite stars if I could. If ever you need Trusted mechanic, Fred is your guy!

Made an account with yelp and copy pasted my google maps review of this place.I saw that he had a Yelp review sticker on his store so I had expected great service from this shop. I had also received a tip from his neighbor that Fred & Sons does TPMS, I had went to the shop got them replaced and paid for the service to program them. Once I got the call my car was ready he gave me an explanation that the dashboard light will still be lit up and I would need to drive the car a bit.it has been several months later and the dashboard light has remained on. I had called him several times over the course of two month since the install and he keeps stringing me on, always with the promise of they will fix the issue. His reason was his TPMS tool was dropped and he is getting it fixed. From the time of writing this it has been over four months now if his story held true, which is unacceptable for a company to not offer a service for four whole months. He keeps saying anytime now the tech will come with his sensor or next week it should be fixed. I had left them my number and he has not called me once for an update since I had stopped inquiring him.I am not knowledgeable about car maintenance so I called a different shop for TPMS and was told that TPMS are not standardized so their device could possibly not work with the sensors installed on my car. I am now down 450$ with a possibility of having to go to multiple shops or replace the TPMS system entirely again.

We live in the Central Valley but we didn't mind driving to the bay area to get our car repaired. First, is because they are very honest on their diagnostics and they will recommend you only on what is the urgent thing that needs to be fixed. Second, very fair with pricing. Third is that they do an excellent job on their repAirs. Kudos to Rey on being so nice, accomodating and providing a quality service. We highly recommend this shop!!!

This is my first review ever I think but had to give give my recommendations to Fred and Son's. My old mini van didn't want to start all of a sudden so the gas station guy recommended I had it towed to Fred and Son's. Me being frazzled by the whole thing I must have called over there like 5 different times to try to coordinate since the tow truck kept being late and it was close to closing time and every time they were very friendly and the quote they gave me over the phone turned out to be exactly what I had to pay. I thought the price was very reasonable. The best thing was the car was already done at 11 am the next morning!!

Fred & sons is inarguably the best auto repair shop in town! They have friendly, reliable and knowledgable staff and owner. They are also very honest which I can't say is true with other shops. They really go out of their way to help and accommodate you. My car battery died and needed replacement. We tried to jumpstart but it wasn't working. So Fred even went as far as helping me get my car towed to his shop. The battery he ordered came straight from Mercedes Benz. My car was done within the day. Their service is comparable (if not better) to the dealership at a fraction of the price. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE, GREAT PRICES AND GREAT WORK! What more can you ask for?

Good service and knowledgeable staff! Had my car in another auto shop for days but Fred only took a few hours to diagnose and solve the problem. Will trust no other auto shop from now on.
