I'm so grateful that the VCA Animal Medical Center has become our to-go vet... Since we adopted our pup 18 months ago, we've already relied on the VCA for several health concerns. Each time we've been able to get an appointment quickly, and with each visit, the staff and vets have been nothing but compassionate and attentive to our concerns and needs. I will say that patients should give themselves a bit of extra time for parking. It is a very limited parking lot, but there is ample street parking if no spots are available.

Nice staff and doctors.I appreciate how easy it was to book an appointment online, and they had a decent amount of available appointment slots. My cat was very comfortable there and they had a nice waiting area.

I have been going to Dr. Pilch since he got out of veterinarian school in the late 70s. He’s amazing.

This used to be a five star place. Dr Pilch was fantastic. He's only there Thursdays now, though, and that won't work for my dog. Emergencies arise. Recently, I brought my dog in because of a growth. We had to see the vet available, not Dr Pilch. Given that she had mast cell tumors before, they had to be aspirated. I was told $300. I said can we aspirate and review in house (as had been done in the past at other vet clinics with ease - mast cells are easy to detect under a microscope if trained). That was supposed to be less money. I was told by that vet in house that it looks like mast cells but she wasn't certain. Because he's her vet, I asked for Dr Pilch's opinion on the slides. I learned a day later when Dr Pilch came back and saw the cells that it might not be mast cells. I agreed to pay more and send it to the lab. The lab results were inconclusive. I was told by the other vet to monitor the areas and it could likely be a follicular cyst. We could re sample (for a discount but I'd have to spend more). It could also be something cancerous(!). The lab report indicated samples weren't sufficient necessarily. I read the report and had a friend who is a vet look. Absurd. I'm fairly certain I'm still owed about $100 but it's not worth dealing with (I could potentially be wrong but don't think so - was supposed to be refunded the in house cytology then charged only for lab).I then took my dog to a different animal hospital and vet who immediately aspirated in house and continued to aspirate until she got enough good cells for a sample. She let me know what she saw under the microscope immediately - cells with multiple nuclei. It should be removed and determined what it is. It was a plasma cell tumor. I wish this was the first time I've received the wrong info or diagnosis, and conflicting advice between Dr Pilch and other vets, but a few months before, after my dog had some stomach inflammation and colitis, I saw a different vet who could see her (again not Dr Pilch), was prescribed things and charged for her eval as well, and then decided to come see Dr Pilch on Thursday (a few days later). He changed course and ended one medication she really shouldn't have been put on earlier that week. I would give 5 stars to Dr Pilch. But I would probably give maybe 1-2 stars to others. And it's gotten insanely expensive. I get no answers and just spend money when it isn't Dr Pilch. I put three stars because Dr Pilch is solid. But my experience with other vets was problematic both times - two different other vets - and was super expensive, and resulted in me having to seek other care to get answers.I struggle to share because I really liked this place for a long time. But I also think other pet owners shouldn't be out hundreds without answers or given drugs, etc, that aren't needed.

I was just reading these reviews and felt compelled to submit my own. We have been bringing our dogs to this VCA for years and have always been treated with kindness, compassion and respect. The level of care we've received has been thorough and excellent. Dr. Viete and most recently Dr. G have been patient, thoughtful and caring. I feel like they care for our pets as they would care for their own. The front office staff is always pleasant to deal with and they're really helpful. I know sometimes people have negative experiences from time to time anywhere but we feel lucky to have these vets overseeing the health of our dogs.

I came in this morning on a referral from a friend looking for vet care closer to my home, and who's hours are reasonable (my old vet not open on weekends or past 2p daily.) I will say you have to make an appt, but I got in pretty quickly. Everyone was so kind and treated my senior dog with such care! Dr Khanbabian was AMAZING! So thorough and knowledgeable. I am just sad I haven't made the switch sooner. I highly recommend!

35 minutes waiting in the hot parking lot with my dog. 95 degrees. Did not see the remote check in signage, walked around to multiple doors. Knocking. No one came. Multiple technicians came out to help other owners no one had decency to tell me about the check in policy. Just walked by. Signage for the checking in is sparse and not great. Dog litter out front, in the parking lot they want us to wait in. Service not great, people don't get basic customer service. And if you're "late" because you're lost in this remote check in orientation, they'll make you wait. And wait. And wait. Will not come back again.

I will NEVER EVER step back foot in the Van Nuys facility. They have great doctors, but their staff is incompetent. I called on a Friday and told them our little girls was not well. They said they would call back, NEVER did. The following day we went to urgent care at Mc Clave in Reseda, we had to put our little girl down. Dr Lori at Mc Clave was caring and compassionate. This is not the first time the Van Nuys staff has shown their ignorance . Management needs to take the time to TRAIN their staff.

When I adopted my new puppy from the West Valley Animal Shelter a few days ago, I was given a voucher for a Complimentary First Health Exam from VCA Animal Hospitals. Okay. I decided to take my pup in.Even though I was 20 minutes early, I had to wait forty minutes. Finally, the Doctor came into the exam room. I told him that my pup was 9 years old and that the Shelter's papers indicated very heavy tartar, and I had noticed a small bump near her spine. I asked if he could remove it while she was under for her teeth cleaning. He told me we couldn't do it that day. I would have to come back, and only after several blood tests, we might be able to proceed. The cost would be 'somewhere in the area of $900'.For doggie teeth cleaning? Wow. Pretty expensive. Thanks, Doctor. See you soon.

This place is more interested in money than actually caring about your petTheir care club puppy plan consist of : Puppy PlanUnlimited Exams'Visit us for as many exams as you need to keep your pppyhappy and healthy.On-Demand AccessManage your membership through the myVCA app and stayconnected with 24/7 Live Chat. 2Early Disease Detection and Diagnostic Testing?2 fecal exams to detect parasites (including Giardia).Vaccines?Rabies, distemper, parvo, leptospirosis, Bordetellaand canine influenza.Deworming• Up to 3 deworming treatments• Includes medication for positive fecal resultsMicrochipping and Annual MembershipGet piece of mind knowing you have the best chance of finding your puppy if they ever get lostThey wasted me and my puppy’s time on 4 occasions due to telling me they accepted cash and then telling me they accepted only a debit or credit card. When I told them I had a visa debit they changed the care club plan from $50.99 to $58.99 out of thin air I said you can’t just change the price when the initiated price is on all your flyers promoting the Puppy Care Club for $50.88 a month.I am so appalled on how they treated my puppy. It was like her health (she desperately needs her shots) and being chipped was completely ignored on why we were there to begin with. They told us my Visa Debit wasn’t good enough for payment so my puppy could be apart of their ‘Care Club’. After 4! Visits and NO ACTIONS WERE TAKEN into giving my pup her booster shots and being chipped. So discrimination was definitely apart of my puppy and my families experience. Dr. D & the supposed supervisor Gisell were the worst. Very cold towards my pup & thats a number #1 sign of keep your animals well being and health issues away from this cold hearted VCA! I’m going to be taking further steps on the way they treated my beautiful Siberian husky pup and my family. My money and visa debit is just as green as anyones else’s money. So why wasn’t mine good enough?!¿ They basically said I all of a sudden needed a credit card when my 3 previous visits YES 3 and no shots given or chipping done to my puppy. When they kept saying cash was accepted as well. Well they wasted our time and in their eyes if you don’t have a credit card you’re not good enough to own a pet and that your pets health doesn’t matter. All animal clinics/hospitals should obviously make the animals welfare #1. But at this location money talks & bs walks. I hope this place loses it license to stay open and the Veterinarians who work here all realize why they became vets and work at a place that truly care more about the animal that comes in through their doors. Shame on this VCA on Oxnard!

They take great care of my pup Jinx. When I first adopted him he was very sick for months and VCA helped me get him healthy again. They have told me how much they love it when they get to see him and it shows. He gets really nervous so they always try their best to get us into a room quickly. They have even given him toys to help keep him distracted. I would recommend Dr. Khanbabian to anyone!

I met Dr. Amit Lancet this morning for the first time. I've been going to this medical center for over 30 years, but after Dr. Kennedy left, I was not able to get established with another regular vet. However, since my cat had had diarrhea for over three days, I needed for her to be seen. I was able to get an appointment with Dr. Lancet, and I'm writing to compliment his concern, care, thoroughness, and gentleness with the cat. I feel confident that he will follow up to make sure the cat's issues are resolved--and that I will be able to connect with him when necessary. Thanks, Dr. Lancet.

AWFUL! We are so VERY LIVID! 1. Our cat was bloody and the spay wound was draining when they gave her to us. Part of it is stretch and the other part seems doubled-over.2. NO CONE! We were given her with no cone! They said she was too feisty, so they gave up-they gave up! Just let it get infected! WTF!! After we insisted they put one on her but now it won't stay on.3. One employee said she wears the cone for 3 weeks, another said 5 days, and a third employee said 2 weeks. WTF!!! 4. The bandage on her leg, WE CAN'T IT GET OFF, it's so very sticky it's pulling her hair and skin off. She was shivering and shaking, so we stopped.5. She still had a plastic tie around her neck with her name on it. They should have taken that off before giving her to us. It was dangerous trying to cut it off. My son is traumatized over this. We've been seeing Dr. Pilch for almost 30 years, today was NEGLIGENT in so many ways. We are so heartbroken, upset, and in such emotional pain and worrying she will bite the wound open, get infected.
