This new aafes management is a disgrace. Not honoring old agreements and pushing out mom and pop shops due to personal feelings. Mom and pop shops that were contributing to a healthy life on base. You should never frequent any of the affected stores on vannerg. Zero integrity, zero trust and horrible leadership. They are ruining life on base in vandenberg.

I had the best experience with Rachel. I walked through the store and no one asked if I needed help but Rachel. She was able to assist me with boxes for my move. And shared valuable information to help me with my future move. I’ve worked in retail for 6 years and was amazing by her customer service.

The Main Exchange closes early and opens late and it is one of the smaller ones I've been to. There is no appliance or outdoor section, online only. And im assuming its a Cali thing as why the prices seem higher than they should be.
As fast as the rest of the Exchange goes, it severely lacks in options.

Firearms are no longer sold at this location. The electronics section has waned over the past year. It’s now a cross between Ross Dress for Less and Big Lots.

Great place, a little dark inside the BX, though. You can get your fishing license here!

This is a small BX, but it seems to always have what I need. They have a decent fishing section and you can purchase a fishing license here. The clothing sections are nice, as are the electronics. There’s not much to do in the area without driving a long ways, so it’s nice to know that the BX has the things you need. The vendors and eatery’s in the entrance are decent as well with the exception of the Mexican restraint which I found overpriced and lacking flavor.
The manager and employees in the BX are great though. They usually have food trucks in the parking lot during lunch hours as well.

Review is specifically for the barber shop. Do not go. Spend some extra time and money and go to a barber shop in Lompoc or Santa Maria.
There are 4 or 5 employees at the base barber shop, and 1 of them cannot cut hair to save her life. You have a 20-25% chance to ruin your hair for the next 2 weeks. With the increasing cost of getting it cut, those odds just aren’t worth it.
Do yourself a favor, avoid at all costs. Get a professional to do the job.

Small but does have clothes, shoes, electronics, housewares, toiletries, makeup, picnic supplies, and a good selection of RV equipment. Also has cool specialty stores inside (licensed backpacks, video games, etc). You can find some name brands here, like Old Navy, Lucky, Columbia, North Face, Clinique, etc. It's just much smaller than locations on larger bases.
