I work for kroger and I have never been in a store with such rude employees, including the Starbucks staff. Also merchandising needs to be done desperately, the chip isle was a mess

I’ve been shopping at the Venice Ralphs for over 25 years. It used to be a local store that was friendly and welcoming. I knew the employees by name and they knew me. The staff were always willing to help out by answering questions or getting an item from the back if it had sold out on the shelves.
In the last few months there has been a complete change of employees, from managers to cashiers and bagger’s. Some of the new people seem to openly despise the customers and hate their jobs. I would love to know what went on at the corporate level that caused this to happen. The new employees either don’t know or won’t say.
The bottom line is I don’t shop as much at the Venice Ralphs, even though it’s the closest. The new places don’t know who I am either, but at least they are pleasant and helpful.

The 5 stars are for Richard, who delivered remarkable customer service this evening. I was desperately searching for the Miso paste I had found on the Ralph’s website. It was supposed to be on aisle 8. I approached him as he was helping at checkout, and he seemed actually excited to help. When I explained that I was half way into making dinner only to discover we’d run out of Miso, Richard took me to two different shelves, explaining that the store just had some E-check, or something like that, so things weren’t exactly in place. Then he checked the computer and went searching for a not-yet unpacked box, and then joyously handed me what I needed to finish the NYT’s delicious sheet pan Miso Salmon. Cheers to Richard. Ralph’s is lucky to have him!

Please take your business somewhere else. I have been a customer here for 17 years and I recently joined a non profit stray rescue program which consolidates food in Los Angeles to feed abandoned pets. I called the meat manager John/ Johnny because they throw away just pounds of the fat cuttings they trim off their ribeyes, tri tips and new york strips every single morning. He told me that they will not give them away, I offered to even pay for them still would not give them away. Said it was a "health hazard" you know the fat on the side of the ribeye that was cut that morning is now considered a health hazard. As if a stray dog could eat a pressure cooked fried piece of fat and get sick then hire an attorney to sue Ralphs. It's like asking for orange peels they just get tossed in the garbage when we could easily feed hundreds of dogs with this fat. Other supermarkets have been very kind but this one has not been.

I have shopped here for 25 years as the store is close to my home. In the beginning, they were terrible. Then improved in 2003. But sadly now, the stock, management and selections are greatly in need of help. The prices rival Whole Foods and many shelves are sometimes empty. Long waits to check out at busy times with few stations open. Management seems to be the biggest problem as the people are generally nice. Really too bad as there is great potential. Gonna start shopping at Whole Paycheck down the street, I guess.

Hands down the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I witnessed an employee actively ignore a senior citizen. It took 15 minutes to find a manager so I could sign up for their membership.
