BODY SHAMINGOk, the other day, I popped into this store on my way to dinner, thinking I might find a pair of cute jeans. The woman who runs the store hardly even looked at me. She was busy bragging about her styling skills to another uncomfortable customer. After about 5min, I got a tired “hi” from her, and then I initiated the conversation by complimenting her store, pointing to a pair of jeans, and saying, “You have so much cute stuff, like these jeans.”She looked me up and down and said with the snarkiest vibe ever: “They’re a size 23”.Never in my life have I felt so body shamed by another woman.I guess being a size 25/26 which I am, in her store is a crime.Lucky me (and her), I not only knew my worth and could brush it off, but I quickly reminded myself that our thoughts, actions, and words mirror what’s going on internally. In other words: I wouldn’t want to be this woman; she’s clearly her worst critic. The way she judged my body is the way she judges her own body. And that’s just sad.I’m writing this because she needs to know how she speaks to other women, especially young ones, and the damage it can do. A comment like that can send someone with body issues straight to eating disorder hell. That’s how serious this is.It turns out all of the bad reviews of this store and the woman who runs it are true.

Love this shop. Great place to find statement pieces and wardrobe staples.

I had such a terrible experience at this shop. The owner is rude and has the unwarranted confidence of Tucker Carlson. Their "vintage" is as fake as their 18k followers on instagram. What's the old saying? Anyone can buy fashion but you can't buy style. Well, at Satine you can't buy either.

Anna is the preeminent denim specialist in LA, with a HUGE collection of vintage. My girlfriend was wearing awesome jeans, and she told me to go to Satine. I went in with no idea how to pick a pair of vintage Levi 501s, and she walked me through exactly how to find the right fit for me with the right distress level. I NEVER buy jeans btw!!! So, I'm really glad to have someone who knows what they're doing help me. They carry a lot of other small designers, too. I'll definitely be back since they're just getting their swim in (also something I hate picking out for myself), and I need Anna's help.

The owner of the shop was the nicest person ever! She helped me pick out tons of staple summer outfits. I feel amazing in all of my new clothes. Looking forward to coming back and shopping here again!

This store won’t be lasting for long. The women who run it are rude and will lie to your face and demean you. Super snarky and just horrible way of doing businessI’d recommend to just walk by this store and go to another boutique that’ll treat you better.

Extremely rude service over the phone. She was sassy and outright impolite. I asked a simple question and she said something rudely which I didn’t understand and when I asked “sorry I didn’t catch that” she just hung up on me and didn’t pick up the phone when I called back.

BE FOREWARNED! I never leave bad reviews, I always chock it up to someone's bad day or a learning opportunity. But I just can't with this place and here's why: I've been to this store a few times and every time you pick anything up or try it on it's always "that's SO cute" and "that look AMAZING on you". Ummm ok lazy sales skills - annoying - but whatever. This last time tho I actually found something that SO cute and I looked amazing in and decided to get it - a pair of vintage Wranglers (or so I thought). It didn't have a price tag attached so I waited patiently to be rung up to see the total cost. I also informed her I had a store credit I wanted to apply. She proceeded to give me the hardest time about my store credit, saying that it is expired (false, store credit never expires) and made sure to tell me she's doing me a "really big favor" applying it. She then rang me up $300 for the jeans (my store credit was $150) and charged me the $150 on my card. I felt it was EXTREMELY pricy for a pair of jeans but I know this store is already overpriced and vintage Levi's and Wrangles can be expensive, and since I had my store credit I held my breath as she swiped my card. So you can imagine how PISSED I am after I did some research and found out these are not vintage at all! She basically charged me full price for the jeans and pocketed my store credit!! To top it all off, she appeared to be putting my receipt in the bag but there is no receipt to be found - so I don't even have any details of this transaction or proof of what happened. I take full ownership for not doing my research and verifying the jeans authenticity before buying, but you would think someone who runs a legit business on Abbott Kinney would be upfront and honest and not try to take advantage of you to pocket some extra money, especially in such a deliberate and disgusting way. SHADY SHADY SHADY. Worst experience ever. You have been warned! Watch your back in this mess of a store. Better yet, save your money and shop REAL vintage resellers!
