Do NOT take your Guinea Pigs here. They will misdiagnose which will ultimately lead to their death. We lost two under their care. I'm only leaving two stars because they're nice and I don't believe it to be intentional. They're just not properly educated to handle cavies. RIP Zero & Scraps.

My puppy was extremely sick last night and because I didn't have the $95 to pay, they turned her down and offered to kill her. They are heartless and didn't care! My puppies a 4 month old husky pit, I love her like a child. What in the fuck is wrong with these people?

My review is based on their customer service and lack of professionalism. I did not attend this location. Timeline of events: I researched their business and followed the steps on their website to schedule an appointment (first available appt was 3 weeks out). I received an email from them confirming my appt. the next day. My appt was for a Monday morning. I received a voicemail at 4:38 pm on Friday evening (2 days before my scheduled appt) saying if I didn't call back by the next morning to provide my credit card information and pay a fee of $70, my appt would be cancelled. I did not hear the message until the next evening. I called back Monday morning when they re-opened, and was told my appt was cancelled. I questioned how this could happen at the very last minute, when I booked my appt via their website 3 weeks earlier? I was told this is their business practice (no real answer to my question) and since I did not prepay the $70 they cancelled my appt. Very poor communication process. If you have a procedure of collecting an upfront payment, then why wouldn't you request the payment when scheduling the appt, or contact the client well in advance and request the payment? J***, the Office Manager, could have handled the situation with professional courtesy; however, that was not the case.

My mother has been taking our pets to East Ventura Animal Hospital for over 30 years. We used to see Dr. Fowell who was absolutely amazing, but has since retired. Unfortunately, recently we had an experience where one of our dogs was dying and we called to try and get her in to be seen and we were told that we could make an appointment for the following month. There wasn't an ounce of sympathy or any effort to try and get her seen by someone. So disappointing. My mom then asked to have the records of both of her dogs available for pick up as she was going to a different vets office. East Ventura animal hospital wrote deceased and the wrong date on her record which they hadn't even asked if our dog had passed. We will not recommend this animal hospital to anyone, it has changed so much.

Very discouraged with the lack of consistency between Dr.s and staff with their check in and check out process... along with their charges. Seems to change monthly. Anyone on a budget may be surprised here. Overall staff is nice, but the service really varies. Every time I walk in here, they are caring, but they are behind the times with their communication/ clarity/ consistency. I live down the road, but I will be going to a different place now.

East Ventura Animal Hospital has been so amazing. I have a 6 month old puppy who broke her toe and Dr Pelayo and the office staff has been amazing and is so kind and caring for our puppy. Would highly recommend this animal hospital for your fur babies.

BEWARE; do NOT sign up for the paw plans. Once you do, all they care about is collecting their money. Brandon will threatens customers with sending them to collections if you miss a payment. It's all about the money and the profits and not about the health of your baby. Brandon has zero empathy, compassion and no basic human to human interaction skills. He is very confrontational and doesn't allow you to speak. He will make you feel stupid and like a liar, and worse part is that they are the liars. I was told I would be able to use my paw plan benefits today and when I get there, he said"we would have never told you that". So they lie. All I wanted was to get some help for my doggy who is having seizures and coughing a lot but I was refused service by "assistant manager" Brandon. He finally decided to use the excuse that my baby was coughing to kick me out of the office and wait outside. He was unbelievable. Please do not sign up for their paw plans. Just go with regular pet insurance and stay away from this place.

After many many years and dogs with this vet hospital I'm angry snd disappointed. My 16 year old dog suffered either a stroke or seizure and I immediately drove her to their clinic only to be told they couldn't see her due to appointments booked that day snd doctors out to lunch! Had to drive across town to VMSG where she was treated well. They also told me they'd call if there was a cancellation the next day and or fit her in the day after that. Never got a call at all. I will never use this Veterinary hospital again.

The response of this company is not true. I called over 6 times and emailed and was told multiple times this was not possible. Your staffed refused to email or fax a prescription and said I must order through the site! Unreal that you guys would do this and be this dishonest. Trust me, there was no misunderstanding. I was very clear what I needed and you were very clear that I needed to pay an extra $20 to overnight a full case!!! Very dishonest company, DO NOT TRUST!!

There's one exotic vet I really like there for how attentive and caring he was (and he's relatively new), but the place as a whole really is off-putting. They are understandably always swamped, but whether I'm on the phone with them or in person I feel like they can't shove me out of the way quick enough. I don't like feeling rushed. I end up having to talk really fast, and I don't feel like they treat every client with anything more than a number. I want to discuss very important topics, but I never walk away feeling like my animal mattered.

I've become very disappointed in the "corporate" type care EVAH is offering. When my vet retired some six years ago, he turned his practice over to EVAH. The staff is friendly, but not very accommodating. My doggie has blood in her urine. I made an appointment, but it would be a week before they could see her. They offered to put me on the waiting list in case someone canceled. I was proactive and called every day slowly moving "up" on the list. After they closed on Saturday, I decided to take my dog to an emergency animal hospital for the long wait. Surely EVAH could have squeezed us in over a four day period. I've never been so shuffled in the wrong direction as to not receive even a urinalysis, when it's painfully obvious the dog needs medical attention sooner than a week from now. I really don't want to hear: "I'm sorry you feel that way," or "we understand your feelings," or "we try to accommodate everyone's pet's needs..." I believe the pet owner community is better served by having a vet who is not apart of a corporate structure type organization, where veterinary work is secondary to profit!

I would not even give the 1 star, but there is nothing lower. Years ago I lived on the east side of Ventura. I call EVAH and asked how much it would cost to get my toy poodle and cats teeth cleaned. They told me a price like $75 each. When I went to get my animals at the end of the day, they gave me a bill for $650! I was stunned! I said you gave me a price of $75 per animal when I asked. they said they "forgot" to include the price for putting the animals under to do the work. I never went back....until today. BIG mistake! I homestead, and needed to get my meat rabbit stock vaccinated for hemorrhagic fever, a virus that outdoor rabbits can catch. I called my regular vet Dr Bailey, but he did not have the vaccine. I called East Ventura animal hospital. The gal on the phone told me the price was $53, and that included the shot. I brought 4 breeder rabbits in. When finished, I was given a bill of over $400.00!! I was so mad! I said I was told it was $53 per rabbit. They said "oh, but its also $48 per rabbit for the office visit." I said had I known that ahead of time, I would have waited for my regular vet to do it. This place gives you one price, and by the time they are done, it is 4 times as much. I will never never go back there! I should have never given them the benefit of the doubt that they had changed their rip off ways!

Doctor Fowell is the best. She’s very knowledgeable and very loving and gentle with my little girl. I always feel so much better knowing that she got excellent care.

Few items for low: 1. Waiting outside never seeing the Vet. You don't get to see vet and have to wait in hot parking lot. I communicate better face to face and of course they bill you like face to face - but you can't come inside and speak to Vet. But they will happily take my credit card. 2. Called 4 times, each time get voicemail and have not received call back; four calls over two weeks - no answer / no call back. Now I need to go elsewhere for flea meds / general care. 3. If you don't call back - I don't go back.
