Artie is a great guy. He gave me information for stores and shops around the beach. Felt very much at home. Prices are great. Lots of items to choose from.

The owner was so nice and helpful. A real chill guy! We had a blast out there. The rental process was smooth and quick. I highly recommend going here. He has boards and suits for rent at a great price. Lots of swim suits, hats, Flip flops, water shoes, and pretty things to but.

I really like this shop, but when it comes to renting a surf board the owner would recommend a soft top instead of hard regardless of your surfing experience. The board he let me rent was to trashy and I couldn't surf any waves. So the next time I come back I'm using a hard board, and hopefully he'll let me choose a board I'd like to surf on.

Great customer service. He helped make sure our wetsuits fit perfect and gave us some helpful tips for our surfboards. He was so friendly and kind. The location is perfect, it’s very close to the beach (and a very nice one), so you won’t have to carry your board far. And there’s bathrooms and shower at that part of the beach. Would definitely come back.

We rented a board from this place that snapped the first wave my brother in law tried. The inside was made of very cheap styrofoam and one thin piece of rotting wood held together with a strip of rubber along the top. When we went back and told the guy running it what happened (less than an hour after we were initially there) he told us it shouldn't have happened and we had to pay for the board and then he refused to at least let us rent a better board. The quality was so bad, I can't believe this hasn't happened before. Writing this review just to tell y'all to rent somewhere else. I recommend Anacapa Surf N Sport. I told them what happened and they rented us a board for the same price we payed for 4 hours at this shop but let us keep the board for the whole day.

My aunt was mistreated at this facility and yelp thought it was ok to place this comment as an "unrecommended review." Totally unacceptable from both yelp and the shop. Scroll down to the bottom and read the unrecommended reviews. They can shed some light on this shop and its treatment of POC.

WOW, I am also a close family friend of the women and her son that went to the store to look for bathing suits. This is one of the kindest families and for them to be treated this way is unexceptable. For her young son to hear the man say "What are these type of people doing here?", breaks my heart. Shame on the man for being so horrible to a women and her child.

My aunt was mistreated at this store and all facts indicate it was due to racial profiling. Scroll to the bottom to learn more. Beware. To this store- do better. If I could give a zero star or negative rating I would.

The only reason why I left 1 star is because I was not be able to leave a review without it. My husband and 2 children stopped at this store because I needed a bathing suit for the trip we were making to a family friend's beach house nearby. When we drove by we saw the sign that notified customers that there is parking in the back, so we did. When we walked into the store there was no one to greet us. My husband took my youngest son to use the bathroom at another establishment. I have no idea if this store has a bathroom because there was no one there to ask. My oldest son stayed with me. I looked at bathing suits for about 3 minutes. After I was done looking I heard a man ask if I needed help. I told him that I was looking for a bathing suit but I did not find anything I liked. He then told me that if I wasn't going to buy anything that I needed to leave his store. I was perplexed because the reason why I was in the store was to possibly buy something. I told him this and his reply was the same, if I wasn't going to spend any money that I needed to leave and that I needed to move my car. I told him that the sign in front says that there is parking in the back to which he said again that I needed to move my car. I told him that I would gather my family and leave his establishment. I am black, so my initial instinct told me that this guy is racist. I began to get really upset but throughout the day I second guessed my instincts. I kind of told myself that this guy is just a miserable j**** When we arrived home I checked in with my oldest son so we could discuss what happened at the store. My son said that the guy at the store said something under his breath as he passed him. The guy said "What are these type of people doing here?". My heart just sank. My instincts were right. I called the store today to speak to the manager or owner. Turns out the guy who kicked me and my son out of the store is unfortunately the owner. He said that he thought I was going to go across the street to have breakfast for a couple of hours. If I was going to have breakfast across the street, wouldn't I be across the street having breakfast? I was in his store for several minutes looking at bathing suits. My oldest son was also looking around the store for something to buy. This experience has left me really sad and hurt. He said my son is lying about what he said under his breath as he passed him. Mr. Artie Anderson (the owner) said he isn't a racist but I implore him to stop acting like one. Before you kick someone out of your store, I suggest you ask before jumping to false conclusions.

If I could leave a written review on 0 stars I would. So just know the 1 star is actually 0 in my book. Called for info to rent a surfboard for my son and I as we wait for ours in our furniture shipment. Man answered the phone. Didn't want to answer many questions. Refused to give name and when I tried to get pricing he hung up on me. Thanks for the bad service cause we found that Ventura Surf shop was very helpful, professional, awesome customer service assistance as well as receiving our money that Seaward Surf and Sport obviously didn't want.

Wow, I am not sure if I spoke with the owner(I believe I did) but I had less than a 2 minute conversation about my interest in a kayak and he shooed me away like I was nothing to him.He said I have “paying customers so I have to go “ if I took up 10 mins of his time asking aimless questions I could understand this response but it was less than a 2 min convo. Not where I want to give my business. I believe shopping local is important but I feel completely disrespected. Not cool.
