The service was amazing, they never stopped, I admit I tipped 50%! They brought me dishes on the house as I had questions, I ate like a king and had food to go. Very charming atmosphere as well!

More than anything, the daily lunch buffet draws patrons into this downtown Ventura Indian eatery. And it's not just the smell wafting down Main Street. The food is considerably better than you'd expect. The low price keeps local diners coming back, and the regular menu has nice additions to Indian standards. For one, they serve Bombay frankies --- street food that could be considered the Indian interpretation of the burrito. Three types of frankies are offered: lamb, chicken and cauliflower. The Taj Café also realizes that masala is one of the most popular sauces; among protein options are chicken, lamb, fish and even shrimp. Under the heading of "Taj's exclusive" on the menu, there's a tandoori chicken in a mango sauce. The chutney sampler on the appetizer list is a good idea for fruit fans, and there are a dozen different vegetarian dishes. A few beers, including Indian beers, are available.
