Here is a place you don't see often. Specialty Vinegar. Oil. Such a unique taste with a hundred applications. These precious liquids are hardly a salad dressing - they are for everything imaginable. The education from the well informed employees are worth the visit alone. If visiting downtown Ventura, it's a must do. Be sure to have some free tastes!

Lured here by 2g2g, got a small bottle of walnut oil to try but you could just spend the same at the counter and pick an oil of your choosing. The associates were very friendly and gave free samples to try out

Love, love, love you guys. My husband and I walked in for the first time. So sorry I missed going in before. Staff top notch. Owners fun people. We will be back again. Loved and bought the passion fruit vinegar garlic olive oil sangria and a citrusy flavored vinegar. No more "We Olive" or whatever it's called now. May I suggest a frequent flyer program something as that is what kept me going back to the other place. (You know who). But I still like you better. See you soon

Amanda is the best! Instant employee of the month. She took us through the whole tasting experience and educated us on the different origins and processes to make each one. Incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend stopping by vomFASS and asking for Amanda if you are interested in Scotch, tequila, whiskey, bourbon, or oils. Will definitely be back!

What a great experience with Amanda! First, this isn't just another vinegar and olive oil place. Although both are there, the reason this is going to be a destinaton for us are the craft spirits and mixes. I had no idea places like this existed and being able to sample a few was pretty amazing. Will definitely be back

Ok first off, Rules are rules. When the governor put in effect that there is a mask mandate for all in California. That was the law, end of story. I 'am soo glad that this store decided to be aware and considerate of others peoples health and safety. Thank you soo much vom fass. For the people who are not aware of our rules because they are out of state, then they need to get acquainted because that's called respect. As someone who lost two people from this virus. I take it seriously! As far as the shop is concerned, they make the best craft liquor and mead in all of the town. Never mind the surprisingly tasty olive oil. I usually do my Christmas shopping here as well as fourth of July. This is the definition of a Ventura independent shop, just like the great Salzer's. I love the staff they are very kind to me every time I came in and offered to get me a face mask when I didn't have one. Also since the store owner is a kind old man how bout we be considerate and get vaccinated! Good job Vom Fass!

There are so many wonderful places to visit in downtown Ventura, but I have only taken the time to review a select few that stand out above the rest! Of them, our favorite is Vom Fass - not just because of the amazing selection of flavorful drinks and oils, which are always fun to sample, but because of George! He can go months or years without seeing my kids, but as soon as they pop their heads in the door, he makes hem feel like the only people in the world. He teaches them about oils and gives samples liberally to help them discover their taste preferences. And because of him, both kids can easily tell you theirs. Imagine getting a 3 and 7 year old to be passionate about olive oil. Thank you for your kindness to our kids, George. Time and time again you've made them feel special. As an aside: The pink grapefruit liquer is worth the trip! Grab a free sample :)

Store manager Josh was our tour guide and sample host yesterday. He was very knowledgeable about every product in the store. I appreciate that. Josh was happy to provide a sample of anything we showed an interest in. These are very high-end oils, vinegars, spirits, spices, wines and more. We settled on the fig & chili vinegar, and some delicious sounding Pinot Noir (which we were unable to sample), but Josh's description was good enough for me. I was happy to hear you can return with your clean used vinegar bottle to get a discounted refill once it is gone. Clever. Josh spoke of the German craftsmanship behind the product. I like that too. It is a very tidy, well organized little gift shop. We did the Absinth experience too, again another history lesson from Josh.....I am truly a history n*** and I loved that he had a backstory for everything. Of course I already knew the history and background of Absinth, but the others that were listening in did not, and they were very entertained. I recommend this shop.

I can't believe that I've walked past Vom Fass so many times without going in. I've really been missing out! My boyfriend and I decided to walk in and take a look around, and I'm so glad we did. All of the employees were so friendly and knowledgeable about the many products they offer. We tasted a few of the olive oils and balsamic vinegars. Our favorites were the lemon and basil olive oils. I also really liked the fig chili balsamic vinegar. George was kind enough to show us around the various liquors that they offer. I tried two of the tequilas and was pleasantly surprised by how smooth and delicious they were. We ended up leaving with a lemon olive oil and maletti balsamic vinegar. They paired well and were absolutely delicious with some pieces of bread fresh from the oven. Although their products are on the more expensive side, I really believe that you are paying for high quality. Definitely stop by and taste some of their offerings if you get a chance!
