Called to get physicals, cash pay. Just told No.. not accepting new patients. Asked for just a one time visit, not to seek new care and again told no. Also had no list for referrals. Short and curt.

Dr Wise is everything you want in a primary care physician. He has an amazing bedside manner, very knowledgeable and very easy to reach when you need him.

I have had the pleasure of being treated by Dr. Wise, MD, in Walnut Creek, CA, since 2007, and he consistently provides outstanding care. From the moment I enter the clinic, I am greeted by a welcoming and highly professional staff. Dr. Wise has always taken the time to genuinely listen to my concerns, thoroughly explain my diagnoses, and discuss all available treatment options with clarity and patience.
Over the years, I have also been under the care of Dr. Sher before his retirement, as well as Dr. Hohman and Nurse Practitioner Lisa, all of whom provided excellent, compassionate care. What impresses me most about Dr. Wise is his warm, compassionate approach, his sincere concern for his patients, and his ability to communicate complex information with clarity. His extensive expertise is evident, and the practical, insightful advice he offers has been invaluable.
His follow-up care is timely and attentive, making me feel truly cared for at every visit. I highly recommend Dr. Wise to anyone seeking a knowledgeable, compassionate, and attentive physician in the Walnut Creek area. My ongoing trust and positive experience are a true testament to the exceptional care he provides.

Dr Wise is a great provider but receptionist is extremely rude & has a terrible attitude. Does not listen to understand then says you are upset when you match the tone she gives you. It’s unprofessional to get on the phone with a bad attitude because you do not want to do anything or try to help. Dr Wise will be better off with someone else answering his calls who care to help the patients.

Dr. Wise has been an amazing doctor but his receptionist is SO rude. She responds to all calls and requests as if they are an inconvenience to her. I’ve had pharmacy and insurance issues and it feels like she tried to purposefully delay solutions out of spite.

His staff don't return phone calls, say they allegedly lost part of my medical records, and I had a misdiagnosed meniscus tear for years thanks to him. Do yourself a favor and find a different doctor.

I switched doctors a few years ago after my regular doctor changed his practice to a concierge-style membership one. Although I respected my prior doctor, his bedside manner was not he best. He was extremely knowledgeable though and I stayed with him for many years. When his practice changed and I was asked to pay $79 per month to remain his patient, I decided a change was required. I asked my friends in the Walnut Creek area about their doctors and checked reviews online, on Yelp and other sites to try and find highly rated doctors. Needless to say, what I found was a mixed bag of the good, bad and the ugly...until I read some reviews for Dr. Wise! I switched and haven't looked back. From the very first time I met with Dr. Wise and his staff I have felt welcomed and cared for. I've had regular check-ups, physicals and went through a serious heart illness a few years ago. Although I have a great cardiologist as well, during every situation, Dr. Wise and his staff have taken better care of my needs than any other doctor I've ever had. When an urgent situation comes up, I can reach the office by phone or their web portal via email and get the answers, care or prescriptions I need. If I need an appointment right away I can get it. I can't speak highly enough about Dr. Wise and his staff. They are simply the best!

I've been with Dr. Wise since he purchased the practice from Dr. Sher, and with his assistant Maria longer than that. They are both AWESOME!Dr. Wise has always given me whatever amount of time needed to listen to my concerns/complaints. Not once have I felt like I was being rushed out the door (like some doctors will do).The rest of the staff is always helpful and very friendly.

The doctor and staff are great. I’ve been very happy and they were a referral from more than one family friend source. Highly recommend.

Has been the doctor for our family (me, my wife and my daughter) for at least 10 years. He was recommended by a specialist because I wanted someone who was smart, knowledgeable, would listen and would be more of a partner in our health care. He has been great! He has helped us with support when we needed medications but were out of town, always provides options for how to proceed, been very flexible and has gone out of his way to meet our needs and has helped my wife with her diabetes using diet and exercise, and medication when it was clear it was needed. I am surprised by the other review that was skeptical. That has not been our experience at all.

I called to try to make an appointment as a new patient as Dr. Wise was highly recommended by one of my specialists. Unfortunately, when asked about my health insurance (which is quite substantial), I was told that Dr. Wise is not accepting new patients with original Medicare. Once again, $$$ rules over patient care.

Dr. Wise and staff are Rock Stars! Over the past several years, Dr. Wise and I have developed a real partnership focused on my continued/on-going health care. His medical manor is obviously present during every appointment ... he listens closely and discusses openly my health issues and concerns.

I have been a patient of Dr. Wise for over 10 years. My wife discovered him a year prior, after her network forced her to switch Primary Care Physicians (one of her close friends recommended Dr. Wise). For the first six or seven years, I saw him only when ill – or for physicals/immunizations. I was very impressed with his knowledge, efficiency, and ‘bedside’ manner. Many years prior, I was diagnosed with severe arthritic conditions (bone spurs) in my spine. Ultimately, the degenerative nature of this disease forced me to retire from my professional career and seek pain management care from one of the Bay Area’s several pain clinics. By that point, all that could be done for my condition had been tried (surgery, physical therapy, neurobehavioral feedback, etc.) and the only thing the clinics were providing were prescriptions for pain medicines – usually with office wait times of 30 minutes to 2 hours. I would rarely see their physicians – instead, I’d be seen by physician assistants. These clinics offered nothing but hassles and out-of-pocket costs for “medical monitoring” (which was simply an over-priced drug test to cover their rear). When these fees exceeded $1,000/month, I needed to make a switch.Fortunately, Dr. Wise had been my PCP for several years and knew of my history. He agreed to take over my pain management – during the recent trying times associated with the hassle of procuring opioid pain medicines for those that truly need them. To say that the switch in pain management has been good for me would be a true understatement. Not only are my monthly visits (much) less costly and with (much) shorter wait times, I’ve found Dr. Wise to be more knowledgeable about pain management then most of the “pain doctors” I visited prior. He identified a hormone deficiency through routine blood work, provided a supplement, and has worked with me to decrease the drowsy, constipating medications I’d been taking. As a result, I have increased energy – yet still with effective pain control. It’s just one example of his skill. My wife and I were discussing the switch to Dr. Wise a few months ago, and I commented that he’s made a huge difference in my life during that once a month visit. She added (and very correctly), that BOTH our lives are significantly better EVERYDAY – not just once a month. He is the simply best all-around physician I’ve ever seen.
