My son has been going there for 6 months! and today he had a new instructor who was very rude to him! My son stopped and started crying! first time this happens! If the place does not have people qualified to work with young children, they may close their doors! this is absurd! check employee training! Attention parents!!!!?? I'm waiting to hear back about a justification from (Veronica!) My husband called and this lady asked me to come back to the next class, and explain what happened, to see if it was possible to make up the class! And that's a joke! I must repeat the frustration that my son went through!

It's my first time visiting to watch my granddaughter practice. The place is impressive, however the instructor may be tired and didn't actively do her job. Hope the instructor for the next class will be active.

My 6-year-old daughter was comfortable doing some light swimming in the water before starting and just after just a few shared lessons (2 children per child) she is now swimming underwater and perfecting her technique! She feels confident and is excited about swimming far more than I anticipated. The instructors are fantastic, knowledgeable, and great with kids though there is a new one each time. I think this is a great option for learning how to swim, perfecting your technique or pre-swim team. I also love that you can easily change your time slot on short notice online but apparently you can only do this twice per enrollment period session. Swimming is indoors and available year round. We drive 25min each way for lessons. Get on the list now in case it’s full if your interested. Seems if you can stay consistent with your lessons this will work out great but if you need changes read the reviews as others have had issues with their policies.

The instructors in this academy is mediocre, and the staff is even less trained. They have inflexible policy and poor communication. I hate navigating through their confusing and inflexible policy, just to learn how to swim. And not even with good instructors. I have attended their classes before and the instructor give you very minimal instructions. The instructor put a new swimmer on the noodle the entire 30 mins. She never returned after that. If you have other options, don't come here.

My 6yo son are taking swim class in American Swim academy for a bit more than a year. He has a great progress. And what is more important for me - he loves his swimming classes and his coaches! I really appreciate American Swim academy and I keep spending 25 min drive to go there every week. I signed up for one more class next year, so we'll do it twice a week instead of once a week.Thank you ❤️

Overall it's been a wonderful experience. The teachers are all great. It's clean, organized, and classes are always timely. I love the ribbon reward system. We had one lesson with a teacher that wasn't a good experience. As soon as I addressed it with the school, they took care of it and gave us a new instructor. They were wonderful. I highly recommend them.

Not a safe place or inclusive space for parents who have children with autism. I signed my child up for first time swim lessons and about a month before attendance I called to cancel because I noticed he was afraid to get in the water without a parent. They don't allow parents to participate here, so I called to explain and ask for a refund. I was refused by management even though it was a month prior to his lesson. They offered to reschedule though, so now every quarter I get a call asking us if we want to come back. Horrible customer service and lack of empathy and education about special needs kids.

Very hard to get a makeup class. Not only that kids do get sick frequently and if you miss out on more than 2 classes you’re just out of luck and money. We weren’t able to find times to do makeups unfortunately. Just really sucks. Yes they’re transparent when you sign up but why not allow to makeup after the quarter ends. This is the reason we won’t be going back. The staff is great!

My son attended a few swim sessions at American Swim Academy but we quit about a year ago. At first it was great. He had a nice instructor who started who seem like a great teacher and he made progress week to week. In a later session he was mismatched with a classmate. They were the same age but she was a far better swimmer than him and I think it was tough on the instructor that they couldn't do the same things. Not the teacher's fault at all, but I could see it was frustrating to her. The last session we had was an absolute disaster. His instructor missed more than half of his lessons. In one instance there was no instructor at all so both kids got in the pool with no adult in their lane. I didn't realize there was no one there because we were required to drop the kids off in the showers (I'm not sure if that's still the case). When his instructor did show up, it wasn't any better. She made no attempts to engage my son. He learned nothing (and earned zero ribbons which was disheartening for him) and worst of all, when he was swimming, he would sometimes pop his head up to breathe instead of rolling. She would shove his head back into the water which would cause him to panic. I tried to address this with the office staff and the gentleman I spoke with told me that "sometimes teachers aren't a good fit for some students." And that was the end of the conversation. We eventually left for another local swim school. After one semester at his new school, he went from not being able to swim anything other than doggy paddle despite years with ASA, to swimming freestyle and backstroke well enough to make our local swim team.

American swim academy policies are ridiculous. They charged me for swim classes at the Fremont location (for a full semester) and not the location closest to me. They ultimately refunded me but I couldn't get the full refund due to their own fault and special circumstances. There are more affordable swim classes with more flexible policies for working families elsewhere.

We tried swim lessons with our 4 year old in three different places and failed. The American Swim academy is amazing.. the instructors have a way about themselves.. Mr Ryan is so patient and caring, we love him! And Mr Alex is very loving, he helped my son as he was going through a melt down like if it was a piece of cake. The facility is so clean and well kept, all the staff is so helpful and friendly. 5 starts FOR SURE!

It's been a year since my 5 yo son started swimming class. His progress is amazing. Honestly, I expected less progress than he has in fact. The ribbon achievement system is a great motivating tool for kids. Parking, service desk, waiting room - everything is well organized. Our family would definitely recommend it!
