Thanks to Tim at Athletic Outpost I can hike steep hills again without knee pain. After studying my stride, patiently listening to my issues and what activities I do, he outfitted me in a pair of shoes with a trail hiking vibram sole and a pair of compression calve sleeves. Made a world of difference. I can hike steep trails again without needing to resort to a knee brace or hiking poles. Or pain relieving meds afterwards. I am so grateful!

What a refreshing experience! I received personalized, expert advice from Tim. I had a concern about pressure on the ball of my right foot. He suggested Sole inserts & a metatarsal pad. Placement of the pad is important & he did it for me. I also purchased a Spenco insole for arch support to use in my slippers. I tried on a few pairs of athletic shoes & there was no sales pressure. Prices are competitive. I still wear the Brooks Adrenaline style the he recommended when I first went here on recommendation of my Podiatrist. They are the best.

Great salesperson named Shannan who guided me to a special request by my Dr. for specific shoes. She also pointed out the brand of inserts Kaiser sold me, ran small, which they did, so I was able to return them and come back with the right size. I would have been sorry had I kept the other pair as they would have been too short and not returnable to Kaiser. Very helpful and also sold me a pair of slides with the built in arch support.. Very kind and deserves a raise, due to her expertise and patience. My only complaint would be the man driving the Tesla who was backing out of the customer only parking spot and almost hit me, learn to say your sorry when your wrong and stop parking there, even if you own the place.

Tim is so knowledgeable and easy to talk to. He actually tells you what the shoes do for your feet and how each feature works and why he picked the shoes for you to try on over others. He really likes to talk and I feel like an immediate friend to him. He is so kind to do the runners lace for me instead of me having to do it which takes me longer before I get to experience the run test. He also lets customers switch the laces of the shoes for a longer one or for a different color or thickness without charging you extra. You can tell that he really knows what he’s doing. He says he the people that go to the store are usually by word of mouth(it’s true, me too) and by doctor or coach’s referral. So he carries more supportive shoes. I was surprised that he can tell what model my shoes were when I walked in just by looking at it like from top view, not like holding it close being able to see the model name printed on it. That just shows he knows everything about shoes and which fit who. I definitely recommend going to him for new running shoes. He even stayed open 24 minutes late for me to choose my perfect pair of shoes. He is really open about his life and can hold a good conversation with you like really getting to know his customers and who they are. I felt comfortable chatting with him and sharing my experiences in life. I would definitely come back when my new shoes got worn out. Better than hired employees at Forward Motion in Danville, there’s just something about having someone who specializes in running shoes to help you find your perfect fit. I’m sure the lady at Forward Motion is great but I never had the chance to let her help me, she’s always so busy. Athletic Outpost is a chiller business so customers can have more one on one guidance. The parking hard as it is in downtown Walnut Creek, no free parking anywhere except Wills Fargo bank parking lot, the rest are metered spaces.One last thing, this is the first time since a long time ago that I felt sure that I won’t need to return my shoes ever again. I had to many times before in other stores too. I felt confident that Tim found me the right shoes for me. I have narrow heels and most shoes don’t fit me except the popular clothing brands such as Adidas or Fila. But there’s got shoes that fit me there like nowhere else! Made me thought good quality, expensive shoe stores don’t carry shoes for narrow heeled people. This is a first for me.

Tim is fantastic. Very knowledgeable and patient. I had bought a couple pairs of "Brooks Addiction 14" off him and he had my size 14 in stock. It's so hard to find my size anywhere and he both wide and double wide in stock. I have since moved onto the "Brooks Addiction GTS" since there is no seam in the back of the shoe where your heel is. I have Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome and this is the best shoe for me, while wearing my custom inserts. I had called Tim in February of 2022 inquiring about getting a back up pair of shoes in black. He called me the other day, informing that he got a pair of "Brooks Addiction GTS" in black for me. He still remembered me and followed through. That is customer service. Thanks Tim! Tim goes above and beyond every time I've visited. He's fitted me for shoes, but also offered marathon training advice and gave me maps of trails in the area... He's extremely knowledgeable and tremendously kind.

They are very knowledgeable and helpful. Had problems with my right foot and helped me find the right shoe for my feet. I no longer have problems with my foot. Have been running for 45 years and this is the best shoe store I have found
