Ugh, the women who work in this store are such rude snobs! I walked in last Friday (10/15/21). I said hello. There was no one else in the store besides two older volunteer women gossiping. The woman glared at me with this, " how dare you interpret our conversation!" look. Really? I've worked enough customer service jobs to know that when a customer walks in, the bare MINIMUM effort you can throw out is a HELLO! I realize you are volunteering and not getting paid, but check the attitude! I love used books, wanted to support the library and could have easily bought two bags of books. Not more as I was waiting for my car to be serviced and could only walk back with two. But her attitude was so nasty, I walked out without spending a penny. If you want to support a great Contra Costa Library bookstore, go to the Pleasant Hill Library bookstore where the volunteers are beyond polite and so friendly! Now, they know how to run a shop! It's no wonder they get so much foot traffic and customers who line up with stacks of books to buy! Walnut Creek, please screen your volunteers better. Manners count! Volunteer or not, it's a retail customer service job so leave that nasty attitude at home!

I cannot believe it has taken me this long to review the bookstore. It has awesome titles and rock bottom prices. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Today, however, takes the cake. I'm out of the habit of carrying cash with me. My daughter's book cost $1. Too little to charge. I realized I had quarters in the car, so I ran to the parking lot. By the time I got back, the women at the register was buying my daughter the book! When we profusely thanked her, she said, "We love seeing a girl who likes to read." So sweet!!
