Federal reserves mandate a 2-3 day business day hold on a local check yet this bank has its own rules of one week or more; when in reality they clear the next day. sucking every penny they can get from depositors' money so they can pay their slow-moving employees offering no service to their clients.

When you have to walk into a bank and sit down to discuss your finances, it can be very intimidating and embarrassing. As a married couple looking into homebuying for the first time, we were very hesitant about talking to a financial institution out of concern for being sold on something that wasn't reasonable for our finances or lifestyle. I was really grateful to be able to talk to Kyle Maitland, who was both deeply considerate of the stresses we were under but also really comforted us about PatelCo and their operations. He helped us work out a financial plan to help grow our savings and after chatting extensively with Kyle about our long-term financial goals, we were referred to Fred Williams for further mortgage discussions. This is a really big deal for us, and we're so grateful to be able to work with a non-profit credit union that's really taking into account the human factor in finances.

I had signed up for a car loan with another bank but walked out when the person helping me didn't understand the process. I didn't expect to be assisted as it was lunch time without an appointment. I waited for 10 minutes then was helped by Deisherey. She was so professional and extremely knowledgeable of the process. She signed me up for a membership and got the loan approved. Service is everything these days and highly recommend this location.

Every time me and my husband go to the Patelco credit union, in Walnut Creek, CA, we get an excellent customer service. And today we met an amazing Financial Specialist, Jasmin McPeters, who exceeded all our expectations. She provided us with the highly professional help, incredibly warm, patient, communicative and understandable attitude. Jasmin really loves her job and doing her best, she values her customers and supports them professionally and emotionally. Her smile and friendly attitude made us pleasant to work with and we are so grateful to Patelco to having such a wonderful person. Thank you very much dear Jasmin,

11 April 2022: we filed a complaint against Patelco with the CA Department of Financial Protection and Innovation for atrocious mistreatment we suffered at the branch after appearing in person on Sat, 16 Jan 2022, to enable an online account disabled the day before without notice or reason: disablement inflicted as a result of previous online contact with Member Services concerning the account's Zelle feature. No reason for the disablement was given at the branch office by either the regular teller or the Member Solutions Specialist we were referred to once we presented ourselves and our credentials to resolve the problems. Our primary complaint was that the holder of the questioned account is a language-challenged Thai national whom the Member Services rep, after complaining about how our messages were generated, ordered to CALL a telephone number for assistance or resort to CHAT. The branch teller admitted that was a wrong recommendation in the circumstances; she suggested that we become CO-account holders to preclude future problems since the online rep rejected my right to communicate on behalf of the member even after we recounted the complete details of our 7-year relationship: including the fact that I helped the member first open her account at that branch assisted by the branch manager whom we referenced for verification. Reps, online and off, inexplicably ignored our personal referral to the former manager, relocated to the nearby Danville branch. The Member Solutions Specialist provided us with the Universal Signature Card to co-sign, mistreating us as criminal suspects every step of the process with a condescending and suspicious attitude, suggesting at some stage to cut a check for the balance to close the account, despite the fact that between us we boasted a combined TWENTY(20)YEARS of membership at THIS branch! She harped upon the member's understanding, resorting to GOOGLE TRANSLATE trying ineptly to prove us fraudulent. In response to our first complaint about that mis-treatment, their dis-information office waited until 23 FEBRUARY to make their harassing telephone call to the account holder at her workplace, trying ineptly to disprove her consent to completing paperwork at their branch office over a full month earlier. Their written response to the DFPI is riddled with outright lies, omissions, distortions, misrepresentations of fact. Outrageous. Complaint accepted by the Better Business Bureau, so even if Yelp censors it here(again), Patelco will be compelled to account this time without fail.

I was helped by Deisherey, the branch manager. She was patient and kind, and answered all of my questions while walking me through the process of opening an account. I am glad I worked with her and feel secure in my membership with Patelco!

So I am thinking about "Switching to Petelco" from Chase Bank... My problem is the "Unauthorized Charges" that seem to come upon any account... The part that isn't tolerable is the 10-day wait that Chase has to issue a new card. - It's too long, I need a card just to get to work... I can do a week (if I start on Thursday but I would have to prepay things (Lyft/Uber/Clipper) to get there (I work in Santa Clara live in Walnut Creek) I am tired of BANKS, I HATE them all, Years ago a good friend used Peltelco he used to tell me "Paltelco is the way to go"... Recently a Girlfriend made an account at Patelco, So I figure "to give them a shot"... and so here I am Reading the many reviews at yelp... What am I reading? Many bad reviews? and I know the good experiences are seldom recorded by customers... it's the bad experiences that we remember... Customer service? So look I could give a s*** about how people behave, so let's talk Policy, Can Patelco's policy make me happy? If I find a fraudulent charge, Can Patelco help find others, and handle it without exceeding 7 days of waiting for a new card? Answer this and I'll be in tomorrow...

I guess I've been very lucky that I haven't had any problems after reading some of the reviews. It seems like they had issues years ago and have rectified them...I hope. My husband had passed away suddenly and they were very helpful and compassionate with my accounts (he did the banking). I also have B of A accounts which I'm switching over to Patelco. I know people don't seem to have any patience in this era of Covid.

This place doesn't apparently know how to use computers. They rejected my HSA transfer form on the basis that PatelCo doesn't want to have an electronic signature, but they want me to print the document and email them the signed form. Not even a Docusign verified form. Someone tell me the difference between a copy of my signature on a form and printing the form to email the copy of my signature on the same form?

If you're cautious like I've become and you're looking for ratings on this credit union, let me share a bit of information with you. I'm choosing this branch because it's the one I dealt with the most. IDK how bad this company was before CV but I can tell you now, it's not well run. The real trouble began when I moved out of state. I needed to close my account but I didn't have my account number since my important things ended up in storage much longer than expected. Nonetheless, the issues have nothing to do with that, really. First: know that, if you are unfortunate enough to have to attempt to reach someone in customer service by phone, you will be on hold for an hour at most times. Second. Some of their representatives are extremely rude and not helpful. It took me three attempts to complete what I needed...well honestly I'm not sure because I was on hold with the final call and was cut off. Oh yes, that also happens. I had finally gotten a very helpful person though, unlike the first two representatives. One more thing, specific to this branch: I had asked a financial question, which the teller passed on to a manager. I finally got a call back from that manager 6 WEEKS later. By then I had already moved on with that issue.

I love Patelco, they have helped me with a few auto loans. They always have the best rate, and they're honest if they can't get you a better rate on something/don't try to trap you into something you don't want. So easy between the website payments and their online service. I will always use them for my auto loans.
