VCA Cottage is one of the best vet providers in the Bay Area. Very friendly staff, and they truly care about our pets and getting us the most effective and affordable options, even if that means alternative items we can find online. Super flexible with appointments too, can often get an appointment on short notice within 2-3 days, unlike other locations where there is week+ wait times. Thank you VCA Cottage!!!

Excellent care. This has been our go to veterinary for the past 20 years. They are frequently busy, but when they are helping or your pet they will give you their full attention. I trust this staff with my little buddy.

This place used to be the best; I’d recommend them to everyone. For the past couple years it has been getting worse and worse. I really hoped they’d fix it but it’s just completely different now:- They don’t return voice messages.- They changed their policy so now they won’t give online prescriptions so you have to buy medication directly from them. (Their costs are wildly higher than Chewy.) They finally agreed to give me a hard copy of the prescription but wrote for it to expire same day so it was expired before the pharmacy could receive it in the mail.- I brought my older dog in for a routine checkup and they refused to look at the dog in front of me. They took him to the back (not for shots, just to review) after I had expressed that I was not comfortable with that. I hadn’t met the doctor (as they’re ever changing). Afterward, the doctor told me that they do it because they can do a more in depth review of him (Why would it be more in depth in the back w/out me?) but she also said he was stressed and didn’t let her check everything. He would have been calmer if he wasn’t taken to the the back and she would have been able to check everything. This used to be the best vet clinic and I really hope they reprioritize and make the service about the clients again.

My cat was taken there by my daughter and her husband. (hard for me to, old and crippled). They charged me $600. My kids were surprised at the amount. They had never been charged that for their cats.

Good veterinary staff, but they LACK FORETHOUGHT/FORESIGHT. Dog was seen for an oral issue and advised the blood and urine testing would be required prior to surgery. They took the blood, but didn't even attempt to get the urine and sent her home with a kit to collect the urine. Long story short urine collection with the tiny cup they provided is all but impossible. So, now they want me to bring the dog in again (traumatizing the dog and inconveniencing me due to their limited hours).Overall service: C- (for lack of forethought).

I am very disappointed with the care and exploitation at this vet office. I took my dog in for a vaccine and an ear exam. Fine, they charged me for a full medical exam (not happy about this, but whatever), ear cleaning (great) and medicine to treat the ear (fine). But then Dr. Adar came in and told me that my puppy had a foxtail in each ear and they wouldn't be able to treat the ear infection without removing it because she couldn't see the eardrum. So they needed to sedate my puppy to fish it out and then clean the ear. (I'm feeling stuck at this point because I want the infection treated). So I consent and leave my dog there for treatment. When I get back, a totally different tech (Donna) came out and told me there were NO foxtails and showed me a couple specs of dirt, maybe microscopic pieces of grass that A DIFFERENT tech removed. I was FURIOUS - clearly the doctor didn't want to admit the mistake to my face, neither did the tech who did the crappy work. This place is a racket. So, they ended up charging me another $78.15 for the foxtail probe, $164.20 for sedation, and $27.33 for observation after the procedure. WTF, I am NOT MADE OUT OF MONEY!!! I have three kids to raise and this kind of BS is so disgusting. I am totally looking for a new Vet now.

This used to be a good hospital, twenty years ago, I'm disappointed. Inadequate care for the cost, I couldn't get my dog an appointment and had to take her to emergency for a simple ear infection

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE!!!!!!!!! Every time I give this disorganized vet a chance, they screw up! Last time I was here, my dog had a lump in his toe and I had them do a biopsy, but before the results were even back, the vet told me it was cancerous and I should be aggressive and cut the digit off to get rid of the "cancer". Turns out it wasn't cancer at all! I took him to another vet and they were able to simply remove the lump and he's perfectly fine and still has his toe. This time, my husband called to see if we could bring our boy in for a nail trim and was told since they didn't have a current exam of file within the last year, we would need one. He asked if the previous vet could send over the records and if that could work instead of having another exam done and he was told YES, if they send over the records then he wouldn't need another exam, they could just do the nail trim. I called vca cottage right after he hung up with them to book the appointment and confirm the time worked for me, and I confirmed that I wouldn't need to pay for an exam if the other vet sent over the records and I was told YES, that will work. I show up to the appointment this morning and it's a completely different story. They didn't even check to see if the records were sent over (they were) Now I have to pay for a vet visit $121.85 and a nail trim $59.05 and the gal who told us the wrong info, Natalia, is playing stupid like she didn't tell both of us the wrong info even though she remembers speaking with both of us. I asked her if the calls are recorded so she could go back and hear herself providing the wrong information, and she said calls are not recorded. Weird. Never again will I give this shit hole vet another cent of my money.

Good. No clue if they are closed every other day now or if they’re saying those are the only days that have changed hours
