This is a nice huge store. There is plenty of parking, especially on the upper level. The workers are super nice. My only quibble is that the medication aisle isn't always well stocked.

I have seen so many dogs in this store. Here is a dog sitting in a cart that someone else will be using to put their food items in after this person is done. Once I saw a man carrying a dog under his arm as he was leaning over the meat counter selecting his items. Sorry but I find this unsanitary and rather disgusting.I called the dog in this photo to the attention of the store manager, who asked the woman to take her dog outside. I firmly believe the store manager would not have taken this action if I had not spoken up. And what about the many, many other dogs I have seen in this store? Did the manager approach those customers, too? Not that I ever saw. . And when this particular dog owner approached me in an aggressive way, did the manager show any concern? Nope. And the manager can stop with the "I only get to ask two questions" defense. It's not working.Dawn - Stop being condescending. You know that isn't a service dog. Apparently the customer admitted as much, since she removed the dog from the store when asked by the manager. I hope other customers will take photos of dogs in the store and post those photos here, also. Too bad no one took a photo of the "mess" in the elevator. People need to know about the unsanitary conditions there. I have filed an Environmental Health Complaint with the Contra Costa Health Services. I'm hoping they won't be as dismissive. And as for "sharing", Dawn, I would rather do that in public. The light of day does wonders for situations like this.

If you have to shop here be sure to check the prices at the cashier. Also be sure any coupons you use are correctly credited. I've been overcharged several times here -- Safeway has a long history of this.

Waited several minutes at the hot food counter watching the guy refill squeeze bottles, and yes he knew I was there. Went to grab groceries and then came back, guy was still fiddling around. Another guy came out, did not make eye contact, and started refilling trays. Apparently actually selling food is not a priority.

There's a either a manager or the women in charge of the Deli/ sandwich area that has no CS at all. Always rude with customers and employee in front of me she was yelling to the poor new guy just because I did ask if they had more mac and cheese. Very unprofessional

I am Always have a good time with all the workers at the Safeway Salad Bar. But today is not one of them, I waited for more than 10 minutes to get served and they are not even that busy. And this guy who came in and help me with my Salad sampler which is the usual item that I get weekly. And the guy just seems like not there. He doesn't seems like want to be there at all. Not mention my food is not even all the way filled but Over charged. I was in a rush to get back to work and noticed the overcharge once I sit down and trying to enjoy my food. If I can give my experience a 1 start for today , I would. But since I had so many good experience with other Females employees who making conversations with you , At the Food bar. So I will give a 3 star. 1 employee doesn't represent a whole team. Just do better next time.

There are several things that are causing me to go elsewhere than this Safeway and Safeway in general. The Orchards store is new and therefore was originally pleasant because of that. It seems to me that either this store's management, or Safeway executives, have never taken a marketing course. Every store that wants customers to feel relaxed and feel good about coming in, leaves a "decompression" zone just inside the doors. This is a clear space to enter and not be "in your face" about "stuff" they want you to buy.1) Last week (August 21) I noticed CHRISTMAS decorations!!! right there inside the door forcing a narrow aisle. Today, August 28, I go in and not only are the CHRISTMAS!!?? decorations still there but the other side of the entry is "in your face" cluttered with soda cans all stacked up to narrow the non-existing decompression area some more. This left no place for the shopping baskets that used to be conveniently available for customers to pick up as they walked in. Now people have to be careful not to bump one anther as the entry/exit door area is so narrow and the baskets are away off in a direction people coming in the door usually don't go. I had to go looking for them.2) Lately I have noticed that every time I go to check out I have to press extra keys to get by the solicitation for donations on the screen. I cannot just pay and go as before. I am tired of being solicited for financial donations when I shop. It's also a waste of my time to navigate the time to get through to paying.3) As others have commented, the prices are ridiculously high for a Safeway store. I can go the extra 5 miles to Lucky, on Clayton Road, and if I buy one tomato, I save more than the gas I use to go there and back. Lucky prices are almost always a more economical than Safeway and you aren't required to be a "member" to get the regular price. Lucky parking is never crowded as well.4) This membership that Safeway required their customers to join is a fraud. Years ago, when Safeway started the program, I did some checking. The "member" price was the normal price of that grocery/product that other stores charged. If you did not join you did not have the "savings". What Safeway did was surcharge you if you weren't a member. The announcement you hear when you are finished at the screen is that your "Savings are $x". What they mean is that you were not charged the penalty for not being a member. Safeway originally wanted to target market you so this was a way to get your phone number and other details about you and get information on what you bought. If you were smart you used an old landline number and an old email address when you originally signed up.

It took me 50 min to get my Covid 19 shot. There was only one very slow pharmacist available that created a long line. An Asian lady who finally gave me a shot is not trained well. It was the most painful shot in all my life. It's better to drive father but get it right.

It's a very long time and still I'm waiting for someone to help me with Enfamil finally I ask a worker to help he said ok and left and never come back. The lady saw me 3 time and kept going. I have to chase her to ask for help and she said wait I'm doing something else when I'm done I will get the keys to help you. I keep pushing the button but no response and I was looking at 3 works in the corner by flowers just laughing and doing nothing. I'll never return to this place again.

The best customer service in deli department by Dennis! Love his attitude and the care in making four full sandwiches under 10min. There was no need to rush I told him. He was just an amazing person. So if you go in to visit the deli please treat him and his crew with respect. They do a great

This is a massive Safeway located in The Orchards Shopping Center. It's one of the anchor tenants for this shopping center, and is located on the far side off of North Via Monte and Ygnacio Valley Road. There is a lot in stock here and merchandise is really spread out throughout the store. I've needed assistance in finding certain items or aisles, as each Safeway seems to have its own layout. No matter the time of day, there always seem to be a lot of customers here! It's also a convenient location since it's right across the street from Whole Foods in the Encina Grande Shopping Center that is also on Ygnacio Valley Road. Parking is always available in the large parking lot. Just be careful of the aqueducts next to the parking spaces!

Bought the safeway select deli chicken enchiladas, $11.99, it was awful, bland, 90% rice inside and very little chicken, what a rip off...

I stopped here to get a breakfast burrito this morning and it's safe to say I will never come back. From arrival the young woman (who I came to find out was the manager of the deli) had a very apparent attitude. While preparing my burrito I noticed that the potatoes looked old. When I asked her, she confidently confirmed that the potatoes were from the night before. I was disgusted. Once I got into my car and opened my burrito, it looked gross. I could barley manage to try and eat it because it was dripping oil. If you actually want a decent FRESH burrito my recommendation is avoid this Safeway and take the extra time to go to the one in pleasant hill.
