I love taking my kids here the trails are pretty easy for even kids that are age 4 years old. There's even a small man-made pond that you can play in during summertime.

This is my new favorite getaway. Spent the day here with my squeeze and we both didn’t want to leave. Best barely known wilderness ever…Um, nevermind, horrible place! Don’t go! Stay away! There’s zombies and rabid wolves! Our smiles were due to sheer panic from the hordes of brain eating creatures! Stay away!

I noticed the whitewater running under the 10 fwy as my family and I left Palm Springs. I decided to exit the freeway at the Whitewater off-ramp and discovered this amazing and cool place. The fast moving water is so clear and clean (but I probably wouldn't drink it) and the entire area is sooo peaceful with the only sound being that of running water over rocks and boulders. The weather was perfect as there was a nice breeze and the weather was not too hot. Many other families had the same idea and were simply enjoying the sounds of nature on the Sunday afternoon while several kids could be seen playing in the waterThis was a very nice and pleasant discovery before driving home and sitting in traffic for over two hours

Nice area nestled back deep in a canyon. Picnic areas, hiking trails and a flowing river after rains with snow melt.

Whitewater Reserve is a lovely place to visit with breathtaking scenery. I loved every second of my visit here! It is a small reserve with plenty of shade and trails that branch out through the hills. I loved looking at the crystal clear lagoons on site and dipping my toes into the wading pool.I came on a Sunday morning at 10 am and the parking lot was already full. The picnic tables (although plentiful) were already mostly taken, It's a pretty popular spot. I would arrive as early as possible to ensure you get parking close to the reserve. We left at around 12 pm and people were still steadily streaming in.I really appreciated the clean restrooms that were available, they even had hand soap! This is an amazing place to visit for anything really. I can imagine coming back here for a romantic afternoon picnic or just to sit and meditate in the grass.

This place is really beautiful, but it is not suitable for summer. At least in August and September, I think the wind here is hot. If you walk towards the creek, you may suffer from heat stroke. There are no trees to block the sun.

It was a beautiful Sunday and I wanted to go on an outing in search of wildflowers. We have had a lot of rain, relatively speaking, and the desert was in bloom. So we headed up to Whitewater preserve. The road in is amazing with all the different rock formations and terrains. We saw a waterfall sprouting out of the side of one of the mountains and I kept my eye open for Big Horn Sheep which are known to frequent the area. Parking is always difficult... Especially on the weekends so the parking lot closest to the ranger station and fish pond was full. We were able to find parking along the roadside. Lots of hiking opportunities are available in the area and the scenery is beautiful. I highly recommend it this time of year when the water is flowing and the wildflowers are blooming.

I was at the Preserve a week prior as well and the difference in the spring super bloom was quite evident. This is one of my favorite hikes, but the water in the river was flowing heavily and access to the mountain hikes was prohibited this time so it was mostly viewing flowers this time. Beautiful!Restrooms: Restrooms are nice and wheelchair accessible, though understand this is a Preserve used heavily for hiking.Picnic area: There is a very nice picnic area but no trash cans. It is a carry in carry out location. Please be respectful and do your part to keep this place pristine!

Stopped by Whitewater Preserve for the first time with my sister and her family while they were in town. The preserve is run by the same group as the Oak Glen preserve. Some nice ponds / park with surprisingly clean restrooms near the ranger station and parking lot. We didn't do any of the hikes but went down to the river a short distance away and the kids had a wonderful time playing with the water / rocks / sand. When we returned to the ranger station, they set up an arts and craft activity for the kids to make a topography map with a mountain, streams, etc which was was very much appreciated and enjoyed by the kids. Will return again for some hiking and riverplay in the future!

What a great oasis this place is. Peaceful and a nice place to have a picnic and see wildlife and nature. But leave no foot print. Please bag your dogs waste. Donations greatly appreciated and it's worth it.
