“The Luckman is located on the campus of Cal State LA. It is pretty easy to fine and parking is great, unless you are disabled and then good luck. Parking is also a little too expensive.Once there, the place is quite pretty, plain, but pretty. It is also very clean. You may find getting in to be a tad irritating because the staff at the doors need training. They are not volunteers so they really should know what they are doing and how to direct someone. Again, if you are disabled I wish you luck. They have an elevator at the back of the stage and then there are still a few steps to get to the rows. The seating is pretty comfortable but way too close together. That goodness for AC.The sound is great and they have some good shows there. We will be back, but not if the same act is playing elsewhere. The ushers that help with seating are very nice. The theater seats about 1,200 people so you will be able to see where ever you sit.Have fun.”

“Professional, high quality and affordable.Purchased some art pieces as Christmas gifts and needed them hung onto frames. Called Artist Brand Canvas last minute and spoke to Nick. Nick was super friendly, provided creative ideas and was willing to help us same day. Showed up and was quickly helped with our project. Nick needed to customize the frames and offered us creative solutions. He provided us a super reasonable quote and asked us to return in about 10 minutes. We went to grab a quick refreshing drink and returned in about 15 minutes. Nick had prepared all of our paintings onto customized frames. It made the pictures more lively and exquisite. Thanks Nick and Artist Brand Canvas! Will be returning for all future projects.”

“Nucleus Art Gallery is such a flex and cool art gallery in the heart of Alhambra on Main Street. There's plenty of free parking in the area. The Gallery is quite small, basically, one large room followed by a stairwell (with another gallery space along the walls) leading to a second floor for another gallery space exhibit. So they can hold about 3 different small exhibits, and I have to say I was really impressed with the exhibits! The curation is spot on! I do have to preface that I love art galleries and museums, and this is a stellar gallery. Walking around the area, it's sad to see so many empty spaces for lease. My wish is that the City of Alhambra can work with other nonprofits to create a museum row along Main Street that is of the same caliber as Nucueles, similar to when you go to Chinatown and find a row of various art galleries. Imagine all these empty storefronts turned into various galleries with different types of art and Friday or Saturday nights with art block parties. Just putting it out there. I bet the leases are high, but if the city can work out a contract to turn the area into a bustling art scene, it would be great for the community. Just my two cents and hope it can happen because Nucleus has set such a fantastic model of what more can be done in the area for the arts.”

“Every time I come to Los Angeles, I have to visit a Chinese antique store. This store is my favorite, and I can receive my favorite collection every time. The prices of this store are reasonable, and the service attitude is also good. The main thing is that every time I can always receive old items I like; every time I don’t come to this store, I feel like I’m not in Los Angeles. I hope I can come here to find good treasures next time I come to Los Angeles!”

“Went to see Scott for my first tattoo -- big back piece that I had been thinking / dreaming of for 6+ years at that point. Expectations were certainly high going into it and Speakeasy / Scott delivered on all fronts. Absolutely loved the whole process.Getting ready to make another appointment here now, so I'd say Speakeasy is very worth it!”

“The past is the way to the future. Without further ado let's begin the landmark review.El Molino Viejo aka The Old Mill (est 1816) is a two-story architectural landmark with huge grounds and tranquil gardens in the city of San Marino. It was the first ever grist mill constructed in the early 19th century California to serve Mission San Gabriel; and personally designed and supervised by Padre JM de Zalvidea. It's facility was powered by a waterwheel. Impressive!!Walking around The Old Mill you'll notice it has a fortress-like design with five ft thick brick walls surrounding the mill's 43,500+ sq ft grounds. It serve as a protection in the event of disturbances during that time. Moreover, throughout its history it was vandalized, foreclosed, sold and passed down to state/city, to prominent California families and a company. Blimey! At present time, the El Molino Viejo is a lovely museum and event space. I bet most LA locals were oblivious that this exist; who knew this historical landmark was right under my very nose. I spent 35 minutes and 30 seconds to visit and explore the entirety of the museum grounds. Street parking only. Admission is free. Hours are limited. Beverage is permitted in and around the museum. Overall, I enjoyed my visit and recommend you visit.”

“Went to a watercolor slam after work. It was really wonderful. We started with basic techniques and worked our way up to layering, using non-realistic palettes and other techniques. I was very satisfied with the class and will continue painting in my journal. Katherine is a great teacher because she meets you where you are. If you need baby steps, she's got you. If you need a push, she's there. She encourages and never criticizes. I'm timid and she helps me roar.”

“I think some of the lower reviews here are from people who perhaps do not speak Chinese, or are not used to the slightly more direct, "brusque" way in which we Chinese do business. We don't beat around the bush or use flowery talk to loosen up your wallet. Top marks for Chaing's Frame. I came here at the recommendation of several friends who have had traditional Chinese art and calligraphy mounted and framed here. Make no mistake -- you cannot take traditional art painted on rice paper to, say, Aaron's Brothers. They will mangle it. Chinese rice paper needs to be either steamed or ironed to flatten all the wrinkles out, and then soaked in a special glue for perfectly flat mounting. Chiang's Frame knows exactly how these techniques are done and executed them flawlessly. I could not be happier.”

“Such a fun experience! I wasn't sure how my kids (ages 8 and 10) would do with a painting class via Zoom, but it was incredible! They were super engaged and had such a fun time being creative while on quarantine. We will definitely take another class!”

“I have had a painting once owned by my great grandmother that has been in the family for a long time but has seen better days. My wife and I were not sure to do with it, because it had become discolored/dirty over time and also had a tear. We could not put it on the wall, yet it was such a shame to keep it stored away. This is my first time having a painting restored, so I was not entirely sure what to expect. We spent a lot of time researching the best place to go and the best person likely to help address the issues of this artwork. Hammer Art Conservation gave us the best quote, as well as was the most informative, friendly, and easy to communicate with. When we brought the piece in for a quote we did not feel pressured to follow through with the treatment, and Joseph even wrapped the painting up in better materials (than our bubble wrap) so it would be safe as we transported it back home. When we were ready to do the treatment later that year, the same price was honored. They even give you a slight discount if you do not need your painting's restoration to be prioritized. Art conservation is actually very time consuming because they clean paintings inch by inch, and there is a lot of tedious minute work involved. So it took about 4 months to get our painting back, but we did not mind. The changes were astonishing! Just the cleaning alone breathed new life into the work. Aside from that a tear was mended, and small areas where paint were missing was filled in. They also put it on a new stretcher and made sure any other tiny cracks were stabilized so flaking and loss of paint would be less likely to occur in the future.Overall, this was an interesting process and we appreciated having the technical aspects explained to us. Art conservation can seem pricey but when you think about all the work involved, it is actually rather reasonable. Hammer Conservation gave us the best price we could find and we couldn't be happier. We now have this painting displayed in the living room and our other relatives who remember it from the distant past get a real kick out of seeing it on the wall again.”
