Uptown Provisions is a new mom and pop food shop and market in Whittier. It offers coffee, fresh bread, pastries, and an expanding deli case with cheeses and charcuterie. Deli sandwiches are made to order from 11am to 7pm. The sandwiches are consistently described as amazing, excellent quality, delicious, and an absolute gem. Specific highlights include an awesome Reuben with tender meat and perfect sauce ratio, a pastrami sandwich noted for being salty and super tender, and a spicy gabbagool that tastes authentic. The prime rib and BBQ brisket sandwich is also praised, though one reviewer notes the broccoli slaw may not be for everyone. The flavor profiles are called complex yet nostalgic. The staff is friendly, welcoming, professional, and patient. The shop uses high-quality products like Stumptown coffee. It is a very small place that can get crowded, especially during lunch rush, with wait times sometimes over 25 minutes, but it is well worth the wait. Delicious sandwiches! Small place to sit inside and limited outdoor seating. Parking on the street is a little painful but I’ve found a spot both times I’ve gone.
