Loved the front desk girl but I had a concern about being overcharged and hearing my animal yelping in pain when the vet tech popped his hematoma. I dropped a message in their website asking for a call back. The Doctor who owns the practice called me and was really rude and defensive. I told him, sir I'm trying to have a conversation- he continue to be defensive and go on about how he wouldn't give me a refund. Okay, I'm not as concerned about the money as I am about the ethics of charging someone more than you quoted them and not pointing it out before you run their card for $470. & yes I was aware that I paid extra for the microchip and sedatives. Also, their drop off and pick up policy was really confusing- another woman got upset about it too while I was dropping off my pup. Treat people better.

I was super nervous about my first vet visit with my new fearful rescue. The rescue I got him from had taken him here for all of his vaccinations and exam so I thought I'd bring him back to check on his ear infection, get a nail trim and anal gland expression. He would be absolutely terrified at a groomer's. The doctor was so gentle and understanding with him and they sailed through his procedures with sweet baby talking and made me feel relieved to know they are there for us! I'll be taking my other three babies here from now on, too.

Valley Oak Veterinary is great. They can schedule appointments quickly and prices are very fair.

My Pitt Bull Terrier lost a lot of weight and they ran blood tests...nothing showed. Then this vet said get imaging, but since it's a specialty, they don't do it. I took him to UCD in emergence services. He was diagnosed through UCD to have intestinal cancer. After thousands of dollars. This vet... Valley Oak Veterinary was the original veterinarian. Since UCD is and was for EMERGENCY SERVICES... they don't do refills and on going care. I reached out to the original vet, this vet, UPSET, CRYING and PANICKED....needing help to get any food for him he can keep down. Crying. and the dog has cancer, I reached out to them for Rx refills for special dod food on Friday. I learn Monday.....that because I used the F-word in my upset episode over my dying dog...... they banished me...and never filled my dogs 3 prescriptions. 3 DAYS later that my dying dogs food never got ordered. This is HYDROLYZED protein that is not over the counter. They will not help. And because I used the f word.... won't help with refills. The office people have no manners. Rude. Short and uncaring. The are the most heartless and cold people. Do not go there. The only reason you see 1 star is because you have to put 1 to publish your comment.

I take all my dogs here for everything.. But after today's call I will never step foot at this establishment again.I took my small female Maya for many of her back issues, her getting spayed and her teeth removal. I took my chihuahua Mia to be put to rest when she was really sick. I took my male Pekingese to get his teeth extracted it and when he had his glands impacted. They where always super nice and kind. Today I called because my Pekingese has an eye ulcer and the receptionist told me they don't have anything available until Friday. She sounded annoyed at me and asked for my last name. She said that with eye issues you have to be seen ASAP. I asked her if she could sell me the eye ointment as I've had other dogs with these issues. She said because they haven't seen my dog in over a year they can't prescribe me medicine. She said try calling around see if they will see you. I thought they are supposed to be compassionate towards animals but I guess this is not the case with this business. You would think with covid putting a lot of places out of business they would be nicer or accommodating. They are a business after all and customer service is very important as well.

Our vet that we have been taking our dogs to for years has unfortunately gone downhill so after asking for vet recommendations we decided to take one of our dogs to Valley Oak. The staff was so friendly and helpful when I called to schedule an appointment for my dog. When we arrived for our appointment the check in process was quick. All of the staff we had contact with was great! Dr. Thornburgh was very nice, professional, gentle with my senior dog, and answered my 20+ questions and he was very detailed about the options, processes, and procedures. Such a great all around experience. We will definitely be making Valley Oak our new Vet.

Recently came in to give my puppy his 3rd shot. The employee at the front desk insisted several times that I give him the Bordetella shot and when declined would scoff and continue to insist. My puppy is 11 weeks of age and has not had any Bordetella vaccination before, these shots are supposed to be administered between 6-8 weeks of age and then again between 10-12 weeks of age. If the puppy has not had the initial shot then they are supposed to get one single shot at the age of 16 weeks as their immune system has not built any previous tolerance to the vaccine. If that shot were to be administered my puppy's immune system would've suffered immensely. We were ultimately able to get the shot that we came for, it's unfortunate that when presented with conflicting information your veterinarian responded with arrogance. We work very closely with our puppy's breeder who was previously a vet and has been raising 3 types of dogs for over 25 years. My favorite thing your employee said was "well breeders aren't veterinarians."

Caring, more than competent care! Beyond the care for my own animals, which is excellent, I also love that Dr. Thornburgh and his staff care about finding homes for all animals.

I am so impressed with this small vet clinic I chose on a whim. My dog was treated like a princess, and the staff literally sang to her the entire time she was in the back with them. They were kind to me as well. Highly recommended.
