There is an entry fee per person and activities are extra like the mine tour, panning for gold, etc. The fee covers parking. There is ample parking but it is gravel. It's an actual old mining town with lots of cute buildings, shops, restaurant and restrooms. I love old town like these to explore! This is fun for adults and children. The views are beautiful as well. It is definitely worth a stop if you are driving to Vegas.

Fun little ghost town about a stone's throw from LA. Perfect for a day trip. There are plenty of shops and a few attractions. We walked through the mine and also rode the little train around the hill. Some of the areas were marked for no entry. Maybe it was the off season. There's a small campground here as well for anyone wanting to camp. It seems like a good jumping off point for ORVs. We saw several. Each of the small tours requires a different ticket. They aren't expensive, but it was a bit curious to me. Most of the buildings are retail in some way. I had no expectations and it was a surprise trip! Super cute and fun but maybe a little more retail and a little less rustic than what I'd prefer. Everyone we encountered was super friendly.

Fans of Knott's Berry Farm, this is your Mecca. Operated by San Bernardino County, Calico is a unique immersive experience in Old West frontier town life. Don't let the touristy snack bar or souvenirs discourage you. There are historic gems scattered all around the Main Street, and one can easily imagine the daily life of the real miners who lived and passed through here. More activities are scheduled for weekends. Watch for seasonal events (and the resulting crowds). A weekday visit can be quiet, peaceful--and magical. Not for those who need continuous flashy rapid-fire stimulation. Take your time, explore--and make a new memory here.

So I've passed by this place a hundred times over my life and never stopped to check it out. Well... This year we decided to have a ghost town adventure and this was one of the spots on the list. We didn't do any research on the place other than it was a popular stop. It was $8a person to enter. I didn't realize it was a functioning ghost town so I was a little taken aback but we were doing this. Straight out of Knott's Berry Farm, this was the original mining town that inspired the theme park Ghost Town. There were a lot of buildings to meander through. Just about every one has done type of business selling something. It was a lot more touristy than I would have liked but we did have fun walking around. Everything cost an additional fee. You want to walk through the mine... That's more $$. Take the train... $$. See the vortex house...$$. Pan for gold.. $$$ Eat..$$. Drink..$$. You get the picture. If you are coming with kids, expect to spend what you almost spend going to Knott's after it's all said and done. It is a really cool place to visit.. Once. We're glad we went but there are way cooler ghost towns that are free.

Maybe it's because I've wanted to go to this place since I was a kid when I thought it was a literal village of ghosts, but this place is fantastic! We got there just at opening, so there was no problem parking or with crowds. Despite the listed time, not all the attractions were open until 9:45, but it's fine since there is so much to look at. It consists of a sit-down restaurant, other casual eateries, gift shops, a saloon, and other places I did not go into. You can also pan for gold, take a train, explore the mines, and visit the mystery spot. It's a shack of illusions with a hilarious, themed guide. They have in-character miners moseying about, and they are super entertaining. Not only do you have the main street to charm you, but in the distance, there are so many shacks, dilapidated homes, and a chapel that add to the authentic, historical goodness of the place. This is a wonderful ghost town and only three miles from the freeway on the slog to or from Vegas. I highly recommend a side trip here!

We have been here twice with Boy Scouts. The kids had a great time. My son bought a walking stick with a flash light on it, came in handy on his hikes. We also camped here and it was miserable. We were in a tent and the wind was so bad that the tent was lying down. I have never been so uncomfortable camping. I ended up in our truck. I will never tent camp again, this experience ruined it for me. If you are in an RV you will be fine. If you are planning to bring a tent watch the weather forecast and beware of gnarly winds.

Quaint full on town, retired from it's days of mining silver. With stops like gold panning, a train ride (for a price) the blacksmiths, gift shop with crystals and magnets, a $5 silver mine tour of Maggie's mine and a whole town of folks dressed in period piece regalia from the time the Old West was won, a delightful experience! $10 entry per adult, pretty well priced. Make your own mud-clay-straw bricks as in ye old times, they come apart in the rain, hence the bold arbors and long roofs old clay brick homes would have, and you can still find in developing countries. The Calico festival was in full swing on a sunny weekend in September with live shows, some too loud for my liking, but all spirited, and fun, a nice stop over on a cross western road trip!

Calico Ghost Town in Yermo is an absolute gem, tucked conveniently off the 15 Freeway on the way to Vegas. This old west town is a perfect family destination, capturing the imagination of kids and adults alike. From mining tours to the intricate details of the reconstructed buildings, it's like stepping back in time. My kids were thrilled with the activities tailored just for them; it's a fun and educational experience they won't forget. You can easily spend an entire day exploring, dining, and soaking up the rich history. Highly recommend for families looking to break up the drive to Vegas with an unforgettable detour!

Cabins were dirty full of cobwebs , bathrooms were dirty no toilet paper. We were harassed by officer Dennis he told us people complained about us being loud , he's done this every year fir the last three years. Other officers were friendly. Our friends were bitten by spiders inside cabins #8 and #1 was full of flies when we entered. The price we paid was definitely not worth it this time around.

I was extremely disappointed with Calico, I had not been there since 1979. It is just a "Tourist Trap ". Few to none of the original buildings are there. The center road is paved with asphalt, and it makes everything hotter. The old mining equipment is difficult to find. Unless you're seeking to wander around a bunch of old looking buildings with modern stores in them it's certainly not worth the price of admission.

Great place to enjoy with family. Took my kids 7/11/23 had a blast. Only thing I would do differently is not go on a very hot day.

Me and my boyfriend went here and was very amazed at the historical buildings and mines here. Scenic and definitely one of the workers say it's haunted. Which is cool. Go early! It's HOT THERE.

Calico Ghost Town is an amazing relic of history that should not be missed. It takes visitors back to the early days of western travel and exploration in the region, and pay his respects to the mining community, adventurers of the Old West, and much older Native American heritage of the region. It also features an excellent assortment of activities, ranging from various shops that are all phenomenal and offer something new, to tours of the mines, and a train ride. During my visit here I felt it would be much too hot out to ride the train and so often for the mind excursion instead, which was a perfect way to beat the heat. A major highlight was the saloon, which offered natural sarsaparilla without any of the weird unhealthy additives that most sodas and soft drinks have, with a wonderful employee running the shop that make sure we were properly taken care of and welcomed in the midst of one of the hottest days of the summer, a free deck of cards to play with while we were there, and wonderful western ambience surrounding us during our rest stop. A few tips that I would suggest for this monument would be to include a discount for teachers and those who work in education, more prominent Matt placed throughout the Ghost Town to help people find their way, and perhaps even some bulletins and information detailing various influences on pop-culture shown here; Calico Ghost Town is one of the settings featured in the popular Fallout series, and adding more markers and indicators of this fact would likely bring in even more tourism. With the small points listed above aside, I cannot recommend this attraction enough. Any historian, history buff, western enthusiast, or any traveler would appreciate this unique snapshot in time.

Gracias Too commercialized Nothing left to say! This 66 year old is "old school!" Thx but still looking forward to my more authentic experience. I was fascinated with the money upon each grave marker.
