We stayed in one of the cabins on the property of the Awani for our trip to Yosemite. It’s a little deceiving that you get a cabin, it’s actually a part of a cabin. Small but had everything you need, a bed, a couple hard chairs, and a bathroom. It’s in the center of everything you’re going to want to see at Yosemite. You can hop on the shuttle bus right at the property and get off and on as many times as you like to see all the sites. And it’s free. There’s not much in the way of restaurants nearby. If you choose to eat at the restaurant at The hotel, I will warn you that it’s pretty pricey, a limited menu, and the food was Soso. All in all, we had a great time. There’s just not a lot of options on places to stay that have this sort of location

We could get last minute rooms (the week before our stay). First we started with a twin room with the 4 of us (2 adults, 2 kids - 10 and 13). That did not really fit - the beds are only 120cm wide. Fortunately they had another room available, so we split and that worked out better. It is really great that you can start of with your hikes right from the hotel - no car needed! Breakfast is great and different every day (oatmeal, fresh fruit, eggs ...). We were a bit disappointed in terms of dinner - it was a buffet and we are not really buffet people. The food was not bed, but we would prefer a la carte. 1 day we had dinner at the Yosemite Valley Lodge (we had to drive there though) but the food there was much better.

Our family stayed in one of the cabins on the Awahnee grounds. Air conditioning was not working even after someone in maintenance looked at it and declared it fine-usually wouldn’t be an issue but it was in the 90’s. The ac was a cheap portable unit. The room had mold growing on the walls as well as bug nests. The electrical also was less than desirable-half the lamps and plugs didn’t work. The Awahnee needs to address issues of aging that have been deferred. The Concierge went to lunch and there was NO ONE to help me. When I finally asked a front desk employee (who obviously saw me standing there as there were NO other guests and I was 2 feet from her) she begrudgingly helped me. At almost $600 a night you expect more. VERY disappointed in the lodging and I’m the staff but not the scenery. The EL Tovar (a similar type of lodging) at the Grand Canyon FAR eclipsed the Awahnee is personnel attitude, food and lodging. The Awahnee could be a STAR-but instead it’s a disappointment!

We stayed at the Ahwahnee for three nights in July. The location, of course, is amazing. We had a view of Half Dome from our room and the hotel is removed from the hustle and bustle of Yosemite Village which is still just a short walk away. The hotel has so much historic, rustic charm. And if you've seen The Shining you will definitely see how the interiors were the inspiration for many of the sets in the movie. It's got an understated, old-school kind of elegance. We stayed in a Classic King Room which was very spacious and nicely decorated with great storage space, comfortable seating, huge windows, high quality soft goods, etc.. The bathroom was on the smaller side which is typical of hotels of this age. However, there was lots of shelf space which is appreciated. I'd love to see them upgrade the tub/showers at some point. The service throughout the hotel was very friendly and efficient. No issues at all. We enjoyed meals in the bar and the dining room and all the food was great. We enjoyed the pool on several afternoons after morning hikes. It was very refreshing. There isn't a ton of seating for some reason - perhaps it was reduced for COVID and has not been added back yet? There also isn't any bar service to the pool area, which would be nice (maybe a staffing issue?). We brought our own drinks so not a huge deal. Towels and ice water are available. This was a bucket list stay for me and overall it was wonderful. My only real issue was the air conditioning. It just wasn't enough and made sleeping a little difficult. It's an old hotel with an old system that just really needs replacement to keep up with the heat. At these prices, you really want to have a good night's sleep.

It’s a National Treasure people! Former Presidents have stayed here. The Queen of England has stayed here. Capt. James P. Kirk has stayed here. So… when your room has oddly mismatched replacement tiles in the shower, or if your bath towels have moth holes, or if the bedspread has mystery speckles… get over it. The views are unmatched anywhere else on Earth. The sunrise reflected on each granite rock face will wake the birds at morning, and they will prettily lull you to consciousness with happiness in you heart. Everything in this park must literally be TRUCKED-In, over hairpin-turn mountain roads. You are LUCKY to be here. That said, the room rates are $$$$$$. (Forewarned is forearmed.) The dollars you spend here keep this historic landmark alive. Kindly please notate any concerns to the VERY generous staff. (We all should take responsibility for keeping this American gem polished.) the staff will take care of you, and do everything they CAN to make you feel treasured and welcome. After that, the building will sooth your soul and pay you back with historic architectural majesty… all dang day. Word is that property improvements are on the schedule for this coming January and February.

We stayed here on 8/20-8/22/22 in room 221. We arrived early and found our room wasn't ready (4 pm is pretty firm here) but that gave us time to explore the hotel and a bit of the grounds (it was in the upper 90's low 100's while we were there). The hotel is pretty amazing and the public areas generally well restored. The ceiling in the great room could use some TLC but overall it's an impressive hotel. We enjoyed the restaurant (Sunday brunch and dinner), the Sat. tea which is tea and a cookie in one of the rooms off the great room and the views from outside the hotel. Our room was great, it had an awesome view of half dome, A/C which with the provided fan (in the closet) kept the room cool, a nice seating area and a comfortable bed. The room had a fridge, coffee maker, and a TV (a big surprise). It was good sized, clean and quiet. In addition to the half dome view you looked out on the back lawn area. The bathroom was good sized (with a tub and shower combo) had some counter space. The water pressure was only OK but there was plenty of hot water. The one issue is that the toilet is very close to the wall We found the internet weak and since we kept getting "network security" issues about it from our devices we never hooked up to it. For us that was not an issue. There is a business center which has better internet. The staff was generally pleasant and helpful. Housekeeping especially so. Parking can be a challenge but we were always able to find a spot. Pull up to the main entrance when loading or unloading your car. Overall, this was the best hotel we have stayed at in a NP (not a high bar but it's notably better than most others) and worth splurging for.

Well, it took some organising to be at this beautiful historic hotel but it was worth it! You have to book quite a way in advance and also book the restaurant separately (thankfully now on an online booking system for the restaurant). It’s in a great location and has some bikes for those who are prepared to get up early to rent them. Shame that some of the trails are effectively closed in 2022 due to maintenance on the road but the valley is beautiful and the rocks always breathtaking.

We arrived early for Sunday brunch as we were excited to look around such a beautiful and historic hotel. My son asked the receptionist for the wi-fi password only to be rudely told he could not have have it as we were "only non-residents". We walked straight back out. Poor attitudes like that have zero place in the hospitality industry. I wouldn't go back if you paid me ...

While this is a beautiful hotel with a great location, we had a very poor experience during the Wawona and Oak fires. We had reservations for two days and the Oak fire filled the valley with smoke - unhealthful air rating for our hiking and you had problems even seeing half dome. We called the reservation line to cancel our $600+ a night room and they refused saying they were upholding their cancelation policy (full forfeiture) which required us to drive to the hotel. The staff at the desk were very understanding and we were allowed to cancel after driving the additional 60 miles into the valley.

Quaint little sweet shop at the Ahwanee hotel in Yosemite Valley. We stopped by for drinks, snacks and sweets (of course!) on our annual family trip this spring, then enjoyed these at an outdoor table overlooking the lawn. The service is friendly and the drinks and snacks are reasonably priced. But watch out for the sweets - some of them are priced a bit on the exorbitant side. We paid $4.49 each for marshmallow and nut truffles! They were delicious though, so I guess you get what you pay for!!

Beautiful, historic, comfortable and very much worth the cost! We stayed here one night just to experience the hotel and were not disappointed at all. The dinner is amazing, the views spectacular, the room was bigger than expected and the beds were like sleeping on clouds. I would very highly recommend.

Two stars just because they had very large chocolate truffles that we needed as a treat post hike. Service was horrible here. The cashier made no attempts to engage and actually didn’t say a word the whole time to me. I thought it may have been personal, but we watched for a bit and he would just stare at people and ring them up. If it weren’t for convenience I’m not sure how this shop stayed open.
