We signed a contract in October for a March installation. The installation was supposedly delayed due to permit issues. When we inquired again, it was delayed due to a bond issue as the owner had died in November. They should have been forthcoming as to the death and possible issues. Moreover, they should have offered a refund. They've been unresponsive in the last few weeks. Very disappointed with the service or lack there of.Service: Design

April 2021 by Dj B.
We booked them in October of 2020 to start our pool project in April of 2021 to be completed in May 2021. I contacted them in March and we were told that the reason it was taking longer and needed to be pushed to another 30-45 days out was due to permits. It was not until April 2021 that we found out that their contract license was cancelled in December of 2020, and did not renew. I have started a claim process through their bond with the assistance from State Contractor's Board, the claim is through, Golden State Claims Adjusters, another bad reputation company. Just search it. Also, according to the State Contractor's Board, I should have not paid over $1,000 for a deposit, but I did. Last I want to also include the lack of communication from their employees, as sometimes takes over a month for responses. At this point, I have contacted an attrorney and he recommended to place a complaint with State Contractor's Board, BBB and other means to make sure people are aware. Last, I might need to go to smalls claims just to get my money back. What a headache they have put us through. I will update this review when I have an update and hope for the best. UPDATE 4/21/2021 - We sent ot certified mail requesting refund, started a complaint with the State Contractor's Board and also started the bonding claim about 2 weeks ago and the bonding company finally ask us for more information, however, they also have bad reviews ( just look them up. The foreman left us a VM that he was getting laid-off and he was picking up his tools. The receptioninst moved to Redding. I also found another person with the same issue in Arbuckle, CA about lies that the county permits were taking long. Last, I am trying to see if any news cast is willing to go with the story. I will update as more updates come. UPDATE 5/3/201 - After I also started a BBB complaint, I was finally contacted via email and Facebook that I would be getting my deposit back via certified mail. Full deposit has been refunded.

10/22/18 It hurts me to write this evaluation, but the thought that my recommendations might still be supporting Lauff's Pools hurts me even more. My wife and I have been doing business with this company for over eight years and, unfortunately, we have believed in them and recommended them to dozens of people in our area. Lauff's has always been nice to us and happy to sell us their products and replace our broken pump or other equipment, and we have been content to pay their higher prices because we believe in supporting local businesses. In the end, we have spent more than $50,000 on the pool they sold us. Unfortunately, when we developed a more serious problem with our pool--our skimmer started to leak--Lauff's wasn't interested in helping us; they were far too busy building more pools. I contacted them in January of this year to tell them that we were losing water too quickly, about two inches a night, and I asked them for help. Jeff, the manager, finally came to look at the pool in June, half a year later. By then we were losing five to six inches of water a night. In fact, it had gotten so bad that I soon had to stop running the pool altogether. Of course, being fiberglass, I could not let the water level get too low or it could cause major problems, cracking and such, so I began to heavily chlorinate the pool and to brush it twice a day in order to fight the green nightmare it was becoming. Jeff said, "We just put the pools in the ground, we don't fix them." So, I asked for a recommendation, the name of someone we could trust to come and fix the problem. He had none. When I contacted Bill Lauff about this, he said he would try to find someone, and eventually, he gave me the number of someone he did not know. I made an appointment with the man; then I told Bill I hoped that he would show up and do a good job, and Bill said we will "keep our fingers crossed" for you. That is the real Lauff's Pools philosophy. That is how important their customers are to them. And by the way, the man they recommended did not show up, and Bill Lauff has never asked me how it went, or if it went at all. Viking Pools, the corporation, did not respond to any of my attempts to get help from them, not once. What did I want? The name of someone who would do a good and honest job--that's all! I randomly called about a dozen companies. Most did not want anything to do with a fiberglass pool. A man from Viking Pools in Williams, where our pool was made, did keep telling me that the pool was guaranteed for thirty years, but he couldn't help with the skimmer (even though it came attached to the pool), nor did he know anyone who could. I deeply apologize to all of those folks my wife and I have recommended this company to, and I know some of you have purchased a Lauff's pool. We had no way of knowing that when it mattered most, this company would just say, Sorry, you're on your own. In the end, I got a company to fix our pool. It took two men about six hours to patch-up what they called the shoddy workmanship that had been done in the first place. And like most of the repair people and builders I spoke to, they said all of this would have been much easier if I had bought a traditional pool instead of fiberglass. It took my wife and me eight years of double payments to make our dream of having a swimming pool come true. Sadly enough, it took just about the same amount of time to find out that the professionals who built it are not so professional after all.
