When you have a lot of money, you build things like this. There is one piece of « art » in a room the size of a warehouse. Pieces pf metal on the wall, that could have been pipes.I wonder what Monet, Rembrandt, Warhol would think of this. There are much better galleries in the city, don’t waste your time here. The cafe is supposed to have a view… but you especially have a view of the roof of the near building, which is awful.

There were some really beautiful and interesting pieces. Unfortunately, there were far more pieces that seemed to be featured based on something other than artistic ability. Would definitely not recommend that you take children.

For someone who doesn't ski, I needed a place to kill time while my husband hit the slopes. I loved that the museum is free to enter since nothing in Aspen is cheap! I got there right when they opened and pretty much had the place to myself which was lovely! The workers were all super friendly and knowledgeable! I also loved the rooftop cafe. After I walked around and saw the art I sat and drank coffee while looking at the mountains. I highly recommend!

Go here if you want to be totally confused and amazed at the same time. Free entry, beautiful location, and unique art! I NEVER know what to expect when I come here (a couple of times a year). Sometimes I relate to it, sometimes I don't. Overall, it is worth the stop. It takes me 2 hours at most to walk through, and again, it is very unique. It really shows just how anything can be art if you look at it that way! They also offer a small Cafe in the summer time.

The best and most interesting is the building itself, glass, concrete and wooden architecture, don't miss the terrace for a good look at the town and mountains or if you want to have some basic food and drinks. The art itself is a random collection of weird stuff, good for visiting before going to the airport if you have some extra time. Street parking.

A rare free thing to do in town though some of the locals told us not to bother going. It is a small museum but with three floors of exhibits it was a nice way to kill an hour or two.

The building itself is an impressive piece of architecture featuring an earthy woven exterior with a interior/exterior staircase that that reaches the rooftop. Entry and coat check are free and there’s a nice cafe on the roof with a great view of the slopes.

I am a fine arts major so I understand artists and their work. There was nothing here to see. I was greeted and asked did I have any questions on the collection. NO. The restaurant area upstairs was the only thing worth visiting.

Not sure how someone could be so pretentious that they’d give this gorgeous ***FREE*** museum one star. The exhibit we saw today was thought provoking and varied. The rooftop cafe was quaint and lovely. The building is architecturally marvelous. And the staff was super polite and helpful. Will definitely return on our next trip!

Suggest to only spend your spare time here in this small museum. No entry fee but be generous in your donation.Rooftop cafe is a simple eating place for coffee and pastry. We still think Starbucks make better matcha latte. Be ready to pay a little more in this cafe. For driver, street Parking is $6.20 for 2 hours.

I gave two stars because it was free or else absolutely one star. It is an expensively looking but empty bird cage (the facade). Inside more than half of it was closed due to ongoing installation. Basement had three video rooms (you have to try hard to understand what the videos are about) and an exhibit featuring one chandelier. The first floor has a really tiny room of exhibits themed “mountain time”. Step inside the stuff member’s eye will follow your every move—not his fault, there really isn’t much room for him to direct his eyes. It’s a pity —such an unusually and fancy looking place hosted so little art. I enjoyed Aspen galleries much more than this place.

Interesting to wander. Variety of exhibits including a plant/garden exhibit on the top floor. The exterior copper lattice facade was beautiful. Free admission. The receptionist was very welcoming though coming in with 4 kids from age 9 to 13 we had the security guy follow us around.

After hiking up and down the Ute Trail to a pretty rock outcropping with gorgeous views,I spent 2 quality hours at the Aspen Art Museum.I saw delightful creations by Contemporary Artist,Gaetano Pesce which is on display until October 9 2022.I expecially liked Pesce's"Friend Skin"."Este Self Portrait",and his depictions of volcanic mountains.I especially relished the videos produced by Contemporary Artist,Douglas Aitkin featuring wildlife in the homes of human beings. The staff at the Aspen Art Museum was very helpful and improved my knowledge of Contemporary Art,Admission is free, but donations help this art museum flourish.

Amazing contemporary art museum. I've seen some of my favorite exhibits here: Warhol, Mary Weatherford's 'Neon Paintings' and the local kids showcase. It's incredible that this museum is FREE to visit (thank you to the donor who made that possible). Huge thanks to the AAM team.
