ALL Women: BEWARE! While I was staying there alone in 2019, a tall male employee with dark hair came into my room. He said he was allowed to do so and it was the Hotel Policy for him to check my room anytime he wanted to. WHAT?! I almost fainted. I'm a victim of past sexual assault and this triggered my post trauma. I'm still freaking out over this! The other front desk male employee said there was nothing he could do to stop it. I tried to complain to upper management and it fell on deaf ears. I wanted to call the police but figured they wouldn't care either. This is the second time this has happened to me while staying in a hotel by myself. HOW DO I KEEP THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN? And also be aware of the transients in the parking lot trying to follow you into the hotel. IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR SAFETY, STAY AWAY FROM THIS DANGEROUS PLACE.

My mom and I checked in for a one night stay a few months ago. I was recovering from a deadly illness and surgery, which gave me a lot of mental fog and short term memory issues. After we checked in and went up to the room, I stepped outside for a quick smoke. When I entered the lobby again a few minutes later, I was immediately questioned in a combative and accusatory way by the Asian (Chinese, if I'm not mistaken) man who seemed to be in charge about whether I was staying there or not. Apparently there was some homeless guy they found in the stairwell and I resembled him??As mentioned above, I had short term memory issues and being out on the spot, my anxiety went through the roof and I panicked as I tried to remember which room we were staying in. I tried to ignore him and go up to the second floor to knock on the door (I didn't have a key card) but the "gentleman" refused to let me do so, telling me to get out in no uncertain terms and that he would call the cops on me. Hardly professional or understanding! Finally, I was able to call my mom from outside and let her know what happened to me. Needless to say she came downstairs and let the man know I was in fact staying there with her. By now I wasn't at all feeling welcome or safe. She explained that I had memory issues, and was told about the vagrant they found earlier. She tried to calm me down and ensure me things were okay, but with what happened to me, I wasn't feeling safe and believed the same man might give me problems if I stepped out later for whatever reason. While it is true they eventually gave her a refund and allowed us to check out immediately when they saw the room was in the same state as when we arrived, I have nothing good to say about our short experience while there. On the bright side the girl who was working at the front desk was friendly, the man who seemed to be managing soured my opinion of the hotel, having zero compassion for someone who may have forgotten which room he was in, not wanting to let me knock on the hotel room door to let my mom confirm I was staying with her!I've never had something like this happen before and maybe others have had a pleasant time here, but all I can say is don't assume someone doesn't belong and jump to threatening to call the police on an actual guest!Safety: NOT safe for one with short term memory issues or who (apparently) resembles someone who caused trouble!

** UPDATE **As mentioned in a review that we posted a few days ago, my husband and I decided to officially check in as guests at this Best Western Plus location. After perusing several humorous, egregiously sad, unfair, and outright false comments, we felt it necessary to share refreshingly HONEST reports regarding our own overall experience. After all, consumers deserve to be kept apprised of all actual events and decisions, and not of petty gripes shared by those who obviously have a childish need for attention. From the moment we entered the hotel's foyer, employees were extremely friendly, helpful and professional. More importantly (and contrary to previous comments), check in was very fast and completely stress free. Despite the fact that we actually arrived over an hour earlier than originally anticipated, we were surprisingly told that our room was ready for us. We were also given detailed, easy to follow instructions as to the location of our room, as well as the hours of the pool, hot tub, vending machines, etc. (So much for all of the previous complaints regarding unfriendly and rude staff.)One complaint from others who had stayed at this property was the allegedly loud noise level posed by the busy interstate highway and service road located within feet of the hotel. Well, my husband and I found absolutely zero evidence of this supposed "noise" whatsoever. We actually both were able to enjoy one of the most relaxing and restful nights of sleep we have ever experienced at any hotel through the years.Next, apparently some guests were allegedly unhappy with the water temperatures in their showers. Once again, my husband and I were completely unable to substantiate any of these claims. If anything, we found the temperature of the shower in our room to be the exact opposite and, in fact, perfectly comfortable. Plus the shower was quite spacious and accommodating. As far as cleanliness and modern amenities -- while the building is older (appearing to be a 1980s era structure), the lobby and rooms have been updated and refurbished with modern furniture, bedding, paint colors, etc. Our room included a very comfortable king size bed, chest of drawers, upholstered bench, a large pull out sofa with matching upholstered chairs, a large flat screen television, a microwave and a mini refrigerator. A small hanging closet accommodated our clothing perfectly. The black out drapes completely blocked light from entering the room, which was a much appreciated feature. The pool and hot tub area was very clean, inviting and enjoyable, with plenty of striped towels readily available. The temperature of the hot tub was perfect, and the jets relaxed us in time for a sound night's sleep. The free breakfast was served in a large and pleasant dining area. And for the record, the scrambled eggs were prepared from fresh -- NOT powdered -- eggs. Both link sausage and crisp bacon were served, as well as fresh juices, fruits, and various types of bread and cereal. Guests were able to make their own hot pancakes. Once again, none of the previous negative comments regarding the free breakfast were even close to being true.In summary, we were extremely satisfied with every aspect of our stay here. From the moment we arrived, it was quite obvious that the staff wanted to make our stay as comfortable as possible-- and they succeeded. For those who chose to write negative -- and obviously false and fake -- words about this place, shame on you! It is so obvious that your so-called unpleasant experiences were caused by YOUR actions. The rules regarding deposits, availability, etc. are clearly shared on the property's website, as well as on the websites of all online reservation services. In the future you should read them BEFORE attempting to write painfully obvious mistruths regarding ANY business. (And before posting any photos, at least make sure they are of the right property!!!)Thank you, Best Western Plus Gateway Inn, for your accommodations and hospitality. We WILL be returning to stay with you agai

I was greeted very nicely last night with my friends and then in the morning a woman that worked at the front desk accused my friend next to me of snatching the card and was demeaning her, her fiance asked her to please try to be nicer because my friend didn’t mean to snatch the card as the lady said and we were all asked to leave because of that scenario. We got cops called because my friend who is autistic that got snapped at by the lady couldn’t grab the rest of her stuff and then we somehow aren’t allowed to come back. I watch these people be really nice and respectful to those of white skin and my friends and are mixed and black and had attitude thrown at us all morning. I will never recommend this place again to anyon weather I’m aloud there or not.

Horrible, horrible place When we got to the room, it was filthy, stinky…dirty underwear, and socks everywhere…. When we brought the room to the front desk guys attention, he said you can’t fleece everyone and that if we wanted the room clean clean, we were gonna have to do it ourselves .everywhere then they said that we had to request housekeeping and that they couldn’t do it until tomorrow didn’t refund our money and Richard the front desk Guy called my girl a filthy name that I can’t say here. Worst motel I’ve ever seen in my life! Said they wouldn’t take my debit card which is the card that I reserved it with gave them another card. They charge that $700 and then turned around and charged the card that I booked with $81 and would not refund it. Worst hotel ever I don’t know who hired Richard the front desk guy but that place can’t be well managed. Also we are at UCH health and The hospital rate that the guy offered was more expensive. And did not offer the hospital rate after we told him that we had a family emergency and Were a patient at the hospital! No empathy did not care very rude, quoted us $78.96 and then when we got there tried to charge us $150 a night plus a 50 dollar a night incidental charge. Do not stay there!
