I just had the most bizarre and upsetting retail encounter in all my 40 years of living. I’m going to start by saying like many women, I love beauty supply stores: They are one of my happy places and when I have free time I like checking out products and building up my self-care supplies.I’m strolling through my local shopping center on a Saturday afternoon while chatting on the phone with my mother. When I walk into Sally’s (around 2:30pm on 8/26) the young man at the register greeted me warmly and asked if I needed help finding anything. I said “No thanks! I’m on the phone” which is a perfectly standard thing to say to retail staff. He smiled and gave the okay sign and I headed to the first aisle. Mind you, I’m not talking at all, just listening with one ear bud in.I’m browsing through the hair coloring products when another employee *Hillary* comes up to me and asks again if I need help to which I replied with a smile “No thanks! I’m on the phone” pointing at my ear. Our exchange should have ended there but it did not. She’s says “Does being on the phone mean I can’t talk to you?” with the attitude of someone picking a fight with me on street. I couldn’t believe my ears so I put my mom on hold and said “Excuse me?”. She proceeds to clarify with a nasty tone “I get that you’re on the phone I’m just seeing if you need help”“Yes, and I told you I don’t need help… I’m good.” But she kept talking to me but I have her in one ear and my mother in another. I couldn’t make out what she was saying but I could pick up the nasty tone of it. I’ve never had to negotiate assistance and have person linger directly next to me while I shop.I say “What are you doing… What is this???”“I’m just doing my job”.“Your job is to argue with customers?”And this point I had to hang up on my mom because she’s getting upset and my fight or flight instincts were firing off. This woman was confronting me like I had done something wrong. I asked for her name. “Hillary, what’s your name?” doubling down on her unwarranted aggression!I asked “Are you seriously starting a fight me right now… You’re making me super uncomfortable” she said “I’m just trying to telling you about some promotions we’re running”. What in the actual F? I’m sure Sally’s sales training doesn’t include bullying customers into listening to your promotions. At this point my heart is beating out of my chest because I have NEVER in my life been so disrespected in a public space like that and for what? Not needing help and being in the phone while I shop in a store I’ve been in a gazillion times??? I chose flight instead of fighting and walked out because it was clear that for whatever reason, I was not welcome in this store. This review is only the first action I am taking on this matter. Hillary’s attitude was absolutely unacceptable and the confrontation was humiliating. I’ve been a Sally’s customer since I was a teenager and shopped at this location many times in the past… Never again!

Not the staff’s fault but they’re so understaffed that they can’t even keep the store open any time I try to stop by.Save yourself some time and call ahead or go elsewhere tbh

The sign on the door says they close at 7:00. We were standing outside at 6:30 with a group of other people because they close whenever they feel like it apparently.

Staff was extremely rude to elderly woman in front of me while checking out. Elderly woman was hard of hearing and unsure about credit card application. Staff loudly shouted to assist her in hearing and laughed about her after she had left. I was too shocked and disgusted to say anything. Wish they had better manners. Unfortunately I suppose they do not.

Amanda was everywhere at once. She was stocking shelves, checking people out, organizing and still had time to make great recommendations and tell us about a sale. Great customer service!

I see you, I appreciate all of you. I came in with so many questions and though the store was busy each of you took the time to help me during both my visits. I know some customers can be rough and the higher managersay not appreciate you. But I do, all 7 of you. Keep up the good work.Update 06/19/22: a lot seems to be happening with this store. Some of my favorite people are no longer working there. Then today the store was closed. I know the manager and the badass with the sunflower dye job left, bit why is it closed? I find it hard to believe that not even a district manager was unable to open the store today. I'm disappointed today.

The customer service here is horrible... I will never shop here again. I go to the Sally’s off of Leetsdale just for their customer service. This one makes you not like Sally’s!
