Longhopes Donkey Shelter is a special place dedicated to improving the welfare of donkeys through rescue, rehabilitation, rehoming, and permanent sanctuary. It is a well-run, compassionate, and professional operation with a clear mission to provide a safe landing place for donkeys at risk and to educate owners to prevent abandonment. The facility is incredibly clean, super well kept, and advanced. Visitors consistently describe wonderful, awesome, and great tour experiences, highly recommending the shelter.
The staff and volunteers are passionate, knowledgeable, friendly, super friendly, informative, amazing, and gracious, providing incredibly warm welcomes. They exhibit exuberant love and steadfast dedication to every donkey. The donkeys themselves are gentle, sweet, friendly, happy, bright-eyed, curious, and social, clearly well taken care of and safe. Tours offer a deeper understanding of these gentle creatures, allowing guests to learn each donkey’s story, give pets, and see the thoughtful care firsthand.

What a cool experience! All the donkeys were as happy to meet us and we them. Definitely take the tour, you learn some cool things and it helps keep this place going, plus they treat these awesome kiddos really good. Meet, learn, pet, and befriend.

We visited the Longhopes Donkey Shelter with our kids for my daughter's birthday, and it was such a fun experience! The staff is extremely knowledgeable, and we really enjoyed the excursion. The donkeys are very much loved and taken care of. My daughter had a lot of fun petting and feeding them!

I cannot begin to express how amazing this shelter/sanctuary is. You can visit and leave happy because the animals are SO well taken care of. Sweetest animals and people around every corner. If you have a chance to visit; DO IT! We had the best tour/tour guide (Carol) and cannot wait to be back! Thank you!
