A company should take pride in assisting its customers who require financial assistance. When TDS ended its government Internet assistance credit program, it doubled our bill. We were told we had no cheaper option. As I go to cancel our service and move to another provider today, who offers an assistance program, I’m told that TDS has created their own internal program and that I would be eligible if only I inquired. Disappointing that accompany would sit on this information, double a customers bill who had demonstrated need for financial assistance and then when asked to correct this billing discrepancy flat out refuses to help, preferring to lose you as a customer. Shameful and I’d like to speak with senior level leadership.

TDS's internet service is HIGHLY unstable. For the year that I had their service, it would regularly go down. One time, it went down for an entire weekend. Anytime my internet was up, it was very unreliable, with buffering errors while streaming and large fluctuations in speed. I would get dial up speeds, up to about 2MB/s. Now, this was in a brand new development in a rural town, with all new wiring. I guess I should have seen the red flag when they were installing my service and added an amplifier to my line. Never heard of such a thing in the 3 states that I've lived in and 5 different internet companies that I've had.
It has now been 4 years since I dealt with TDS, and I can tell you from my coworker's recent experience with them that nothing has changed. If anything, they've gotten worse. My coworker's daughter got a work from home job that she couldn't do because TDS's internet service was regularly down or unreliable. After almost a month into the job and almost losing it, they switched over to Starlink and haven't had any problems.
As far as my solution goes, I ended up selling that house after just 1 year of living in it. Though I didn't sell it just because of TDS, they were the 2nd most contributing factor when making that decision. TDS's service was so bad that when I was looking at a new house to buy, the literal first thing that I looked for was that my new house was out of TDS's service area. If you live in a rural area, as I did and as my coworker does, you have options. My coworker highly recommends Starlink.

I have had a very poor experience the last 4 years as a TDS customer, and it was sent off by a very rude customer service representative during my cancellation call. Good riddance!

Tds they are horrible! They quote one price and charge another. They can’t do anything to restore service and don’t care if you don’t have service. 1.5 star rating total is generous. I would give them negative 5 stars if I could!

Terrible company. Terrible customer service. I would strongly advise any and everyone to not use this company unless the last resort. If you do use them, be extremely careful when canceling as they double charged me for my final bill and then told me it would take between 100 and 120 days before I would receive my credit back in the mail. I use TDS because it was the only option available where I live, but if you have any other options I would strongly encourage you to look into them instead.

Absolutely abysmal company. If you can go with another provider in your area you will be better served. No matter who it is, TDS will be worse

Paying $125/mo for what feels like dial-up and goes out 3 times a month. Literally the worst internet imaginable in the 21st century.

Absolutely the worst digital services provider I have ever dealt with. Our service is up and down on an almost daily basis. My kids are unable to do their homework because we have no internet service half the time. The TV lineup is pretty good but it spends a lot of time buffering and interrupting the programs we are trying to watch. Customer service is an absolute joke. When you call TDS it takes you several minutes to get through to a live human being who then is unable to resolve the problem remotely and wants to schedule a service appointment but it's a good week before they can get anybody out to your home. We have had multiple in-home service calls in the last 3 months and the problems have still not been resolved. I had a customer service appointment scheduled at my home this afternoon and they never showed up. Absolutely would never hook up to this service if you have any other choice
Update - shortly after I posted this I received a text from TDS that their technician was in route it is 4:40 in the afternoon and his arrival time is showed to be not until 5:45. This in spite of the fact that my window for his arrival was between 3:00 and 5:00. Now I'm expecting a tired technician who really isn't going to be deeply invested in solving my problem because it's so late in the day.
Another update later in the day. The local technician and the area supervisor both arrived at my house and worked very hard for over 2 hours trying to diagnose and solve the problem. These local guys are great coming out of berthoud. Still a lot of frustrations with TDS as a company but it's nice to know that there are some local guys that are really invested in helping out.

Have had to call no less than 20 times to complain about the same issue over past several months. Someone comes out says they fixed it, and the next day the problem is back. Then you have to call again, and start the whole frustrating process over again…if their prompts are working that day. Half the time the prompts don’t respond, and the other half they hang up on you.

This is the worst company I've ever dealt with. We are paying $110 for internet and phone service. Unfortunately, if you are outside of city limits there's not much of a choice. Customer service is horrible and the survey asks if you would hire the person you spoke with.
