About Chautauqua Auditorium
Chautauqua Auditorium is a historic and unique concert venue built in 1898, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Its open, lofty architecture creates a special atmosphere, and the acoustics are highly praised by visitors. Over the past 120 years, it has hosted many music legends, classical performers, film festivals, dance events, and speakers, offering a variety of entertainment for all tastes. The venue is appreciated for its great acoustics, comfortable seats with legroom and cupholders, and intimate setting, making it ideal for solo performances and smaller audiences under 2,000 people. The staff and volunteers are known for being friendly, helpful, and gracious. However, some visitors note that the audio can be echoey and quality may vary unless sitting directly in front of the speakers. Parking can be challenging, so arriving early is recommended. Overall, Chautauqua Auditorium provides a memorable, historic experience with a welcoming atmosphere and a diverse lineup of events.
The Auditorium is a must see place to catch a an eclectic melange of musical acts. We saw Rhiannon Giddens. She and her band were wonderful. The sound is remarkably good at this aged venue. The seats are vintage, so be prepared for that. Check out the transportation and parking options before going.
