We went through several preschools before finding the best one, Snow Lion! We love all the teachers, and we have seen how much the teachers love all the children for their own unique little personalities. We have a "spirited" kid who was not always loved by teachers, but the kindness and intellectual stimulation at this school really turned the dynamic around. We also went through the transition from the original director to the new director, and it was all seamless and beautifully done. We will always be indebted to this lovely little school.

What stands out about Snow Lion Preschool is the love. The teachers go above and beyond to care for each student and each parent, and compared to other schools I've seen, this difference is palpable. The director is SO INVOLVED in every single aspect of the school, and she is so available to parents, making this a very safe place to send a child for a first school experience. She really cares. The other noted aspect is the creativity! The seasonal rituals and art projects and play-based opportunities that touch varied aspects of a child's learning are phenomenal. The uniquely insightful capacity that Kristin Lhatso used to create this school 30 years ago, and the commitment the current director, Rachel Flax Kaplan, holds to continue this legacy, makes for an outstanding preschool.

Snow Lion Preschool is such a special place. As the school director, Rachel is so incredibly available and involved it is remarkable and feels really supportive. She is loving, caring, organized, she does outreach into the community and beyond. The layout of the school is amazing....rooms for the children to find endless activities to do, they sing, dance, do yoga, they are very creative with art, they have rituals and festivals, and morning circle time. They have beautiful Birthday celebrations for the children and sweetly honor their life. Rachel really goes the distance with her WEEKLY NEWSLETTER with pictures from the week, sayings they heard from the kids, opportunities to volunteer and participate, any additional helpful community events that would support parents or children. We feel so connected to our kids experience there, which is incredibly special and unique. The teachers also do a graduation book for the graduates compiling pictures from their start of the school, some beginning at less than 2 years old. So much care and mindfulness goes into this school. Great place!

Snow Lion is a magical place for my daughter. We started sending her here early in the pandemic and she will graduate this spring. The teachers care deeply about each individual child and helping them discover their own sense of self. We will deeply miss Snow Lion next year when she goes to Kinder.The school itself is a really unique setup. They have tremendous outdoor space that really encourages imagination and creativity - we love how much time she spends outside. The school also encourages community. There are several family and parent events throughout the year so you can meet other families. We help each other out by creating meal trains or planning play dates as needed.Highly recommend for any family looking for care for their littles rooted in play.

We love Snow Lion Preschool. I couldn't recommend it enough! Our daughter feels loved and nurtured here. She has grown into a curious, caring, and playful child during her formative years due to the attention and care the teachers provide every day. I never have to worry about my daughter's well-being, I know she is in good hands. All the teachers and the head of school are amazing. Don't hesitate to sign your kiddo up, you'll be glad you did.

Snow Lion is such a magical place! The teachers do such a beautiful job supporting, nurturing and teaching these curious and innocent minds. I feel so lucky to be a part of such a wonderful community every day I drop my kids off.

Snow Lion is an extraordinarily unique school/space/community. Our daughter has been attending for two years and we plan on sending our youngest there as well. The intentionality and compassion that this preschool is built upon provide a most fertile foundation for the human development of little ones. Beyond that, it’s full of fun and imagination! We are SO LUCKY to be part of this brilliant community!

Snow Lion Preschool is not just a school, but an extension of home for our son. The love, guidance, understanding and deep knowledge of child development that is present in every staff member has been such a gift to our family. Snow Lion takes a contemplative approach to preschool, which includes tons of outdoor open ended play and the sweetest seasonal art projects and lessons, along with gross and fine motor skill building and the use of their many wonderful classroom materials. We are so grateful that we found Snow Lion for our exuberant little boy, and we recommend it to everyone who asks what the best Preschool in Boulder is!

We love everything about Snow Lion. The teachers are phenomenal, the space is warm, playful & inviting. The community built around this school truly feels like family. Our girls LOVE every day they spend there and I have loved watching their social skills bloom and creativity thrive at this school. It is truly an amazing place.

Snow Lion Preschool is a gem of a place. When looking for childcare for our kiddo, we went to several places and landed on this contemplative, outdoor, play based preschool and have been in love with it ever since!!! The head of the school, Rachel, and several staff have been there for decades and are a wealth of experience in wholistic child development, including parental and family supports. The staff is compassionate, ever present, and so loving. There are several celebrations throughout the year that so unique and magical traditions our kiddo looks forward to. Snow lion isn’t just a school, it’s a community. We’ve been supported and uplifted by staff and other families in the SL community during challenging times throughout the years. I would highly recommend SLP without any reservations! (I’m reviewing here since we hear about SL through friends and wouldn’t have found it otherwise. It’s a hidden gem :)

This was my kids' first school experience and we couldn't have been happier. The teachers and the facilities are outstanding. This is not a daycare, but a welcoming world for children and us parents. While there was a rhythm to the day, the teachers were always flexible to the flow of the children that day. I really appreciated how happy my boys were nearly every day and how excited they were to be going back week after week. It was clear to me that the school accommodates all children regardless of their growth styles, socio-economic background, gender, ethnicity, social/developmental challenges, religion, etc. I really can't say enough about Snow Lion.I also loved that there is a community aspect to the school (we're still close friends with some of the other parents) . Being a first-time parent is confusing! It was reassuring to speak with others who had similar questions and would comfortably share their experiences in a safe space. We've recommended the school countless times. Snow Lion is among the best of the best in the area!

We are SO lucky to have found Snow Lion Preschool! Our kids could not be happier and engaged in learning and play. Even after the pandemic restricted their initial social skills, they're thriving now. They hide when we come to pick them up and have new stories and adventures to tell us about every day!! I can't imagine not being a part of this great little family!!

We have had 2 kids there over 6 years and it has been the best early child education we could have hoped for. They have helped us parents through every twist and turn. The kids have been bathed in love, wonder and social skills. I am so grateful for Snow Lion!
